The "Say Something Random" Thread
roasted_marshmallow replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
It's times like these I'm gald I don't drive. A pipeline from Alaska is being shut down which will inevitably cause gas prices to jump. -
I think I'm going to have to have a late night study session learning manufacturers... You guys throw these terms around like candy!

I'm going to Silverwood!!
roasted_marshmallow replied to Splash_Mountain's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I guess I shouldn't assume other people will like the same kind of coaster I do... I like the out of control feeling, but I think TT has more airtime... -

Naomi... And yes, I'm well aware of what that spells backwards. -

I'm going to Silverwood!!

It's in Idaho, and Tremors is a better coaster than Timber Terror, though it's also pretty good. Are you going on the weekend or a weekday? Weekdays are quieter. Not too many rides but both wooden coasters are great. I see that you're from Calgary, and their steel coaster is much like the one at Calaway. I didn't hit the waterpark so I can't tell you about that. -
Hey all, quick question for you... Is there a way I can design my own coaster and include the terrain in there? Reason I ask is because I have a huge plot of land that is just sitting in the middle of nowhere, and I'd like to see if I can design a terrain coaster for it. However, to do that, I'd need a game that allows me to input my own terrain into it, and I don't want to go and buy all the games just to find out I need an engineering program instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! Heather

The Zipper
roasted_marshmallow replied to JJboy101's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At the Calgary Stampede, the Zipper is always the most popular ride so they've taken to bringing two Zippers every year. I just don't get the rush anymore from flat rides, so I never spend the money on ride bands, but I've always loved the Zipper. One year a 'Toonie' fell from above into our cage so me and my friend split it and each took a dollar... God Bless two dollar coins! -
What about some of the theme park names that you all shrink down to acronyms... I know what SFGA is... Six Flags Great America and such, but could we maybe get a list going for other newbs to the site, so they don't feel a lost as I do sometimes? The list of terms is great though, I'm reading through it right now...
-
That's another concern... there must be more than 50 people who want to go on the midwest tour, and those on the UK tour get first dibs already... It's going to be hard getting onto any bus at all. And I'm not scared of not making friends, I'm an outgoing person, (smart, sexy, have boobs... I've seen the pictures, I know it was a sausage party in the UK.) The comment was I guess directed at the bugging of the fanboys, who are probably members of this site, probably read this, and probably feel like crap. They may not have social skills and know what personal space is, but they probably have feelings... They spent a lot of money to go on that trip and have now been ostrasized (sp?) on this site. I feel bad for them. (Not that I want fanboys of my own, just that they don't need to be picked on so publicly.) That's all. I know that if I go on one of these trips (if I can get on a bus!) I wouldn't want to be made fun of on the forum when I got back. Anyways, I'm still excited about the possibility of going as I think it would be a great time, and it appears that you could use more women on the bus.

You guys both completely missed the point. This is a public forum, and you're bashing the 'fanboys' whoever they are. Whether or not I'd make friends, I don't want the kind of friends who would be so insensitive to others in such a public manner. It's rude. I'm sure everyone on the trip is super-friendly, at least to your face...

You know, I'd like to go and meet new people as well as ride some great coasters, but you all make it sound like a tiny clique of friends that if you aren't already part of, you'd be left to fend for yourself (buddy-wise). Makes a girl wonder if it's worth it, or if I should just plan my own trip again. I would hate to be considered one of the 'fanboys' you all are openly dissing here, although apparently 'fangirls' are welcome.

Well, a lot of those pictures are actually from a camera phone that takes video too... I wanted to add snippets of video, but you can't currently convert the videos into something you can add to a windows movie... So alas, the videos are just for me to enjoy. If I ever figure it out though, I'll be sliding in some random videos into that slideshow. I also want to take a trip next summer with TPR though my sister likely won't be able to go as well. I just hope I have enough saved up and get my deposit in quick enough!

Thank you! Any other acronyms you use here you can think of? Others that I recall seeing have to do with ride manufacturers, etc...

Hey all! I'm new to the site and had questions about the acronyms you all use so I searched for a list of them and came up unsuccessful. Then I emailed Elissa, and she told me to go ahead and post the question to all of you.... Alright... after such great response from you all, I've put all the acronyms here in the first post so that any newbie to the world of coasters can come here for acronym assistance, as well as other help! Backyard Rides
roasted_marshmallow replied to Angry_Gumball's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This thread is awesome and I'm so glad I found it. As stated previously somewhere, my family owns a section of land in the middle of nowhere, and it's been a dream of my sister and me to make a coaster on it. I think we'll likely start small and grow from there. There's more than enough land for a full themepark, the issue is funding! (Also my family lives there so I doubt the want a themepark in their backyard). Anyways, I'm going to send my sister a link to the logflume ride so they can get started on that. it's hot out so I think that's the best place to start.
