^I totally agree with you guys on this...I think it goes just a little too far. I thought I had seen it all, though until I saw this: "Naked and Scared Challenge: Shocktoberfest 'scream park' offers nude haunted house for fright-seekers Patrick Konopelski, owner of Shocktoberfest, could not make his haunted house any bigger and louder, so he hopes to make the customers more vulnerable by having them go nude. He told the Daily News how the Discovery Channel's 'Naked and Afraid' inspired him and responds to critics who feel the attraction is immoral or dangerous. Full article here. Thankfully, as I suspected, this ended up not flying: "Shocktoberfest cancels nude part of its ‘Naked and Scared’ haunted house challenge The Pennsylvania ‘scream park’ will no longer allow guests to disrobe for the attraction following opposition from local officials." Full article here. I think this might have just been a huge publicity stunt...

Carowinds Discussion Thread
Jhcbiinoc replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks like this *could* be a giga coaster: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/09/18/4323933/new-carowinds-ride-to-be-70-feet.html#.UjqthhC76tN "Cedar Fair Entertainment, the parent company of Carowinds, plans to build a 300-foot-tall roller coaster – 70 feet taller than the park’s biggest attraction, the Intimidator – according to a closed-session transcript the Charlotte City Council released Wednesday." I am guessing this might be another coaster similar to Leviathan at CW... Full Article: -
I think they should put one of the Mack Twist and Splash rides in the old Windseeker spot. One, it would fill the void of another water attraction left by Perilous Plunge, two, they could theme it to Fiesta Village pretty well, and three, it would fit right in with their collection of family rides. IMHO, they really should consider getting another "big" coaster within a few years, be it a Wing Coaster or the long rumored Hyper Coaster.

^It was a pretty decent movie, too, at least it was back in the 80's. Had the original Mister Twister at Elitch's POV and Loch Ness Monster/BGW POV. -
The Official WEST COAST BASH 2013 Thread!
Jhcbiinoc replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was really hoping that things would work out so that I could make it this time, but with the layoff a few months ago and issues with my parents' health, I had to make some major edits to my 2013 travel plans and the contract leading to additional income that I was hoping would come through last month did not. So far, 2014 is looking better. Hope that everyone has an awesome time (and that SFMM gets X2 up and running for you guys at the last minute!) -
In all honesty, as someone who is just not into the water park thing at all, I personally thought this was disappointing. However, I do understand their rationale for this, and it is good for the park. They likely plan to use the old Axis Arena as their concert venue now, which is good, as it was not being used from what I could tell. I really hope that 2015 or 2016 will bring a new coaster.

Best Additions for 2014
Jhcbiinoc replied to GoBears's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know what if anything else will be announced this year, but these are my most anticipated, in order: 1. Banshee. Very original layout, a great addition to the park it is going to, and well thought out. It is also the only new addition that I will have a chance to ride next year. 2. The Heide Park Wing Coaster. I am really anxious to see how it comes together, as well as to hear how the ride is. 3. Goliath at Great America-this looks like a great coaster; interested to see what the response is on this one! 4. Dollywood's FireChaser Express. Although it is a family coaster, if it is executed as well as the park has done everything else they do, I look forward to seeing the end result. I think it might end up being better than it sounded in the press info released so far, based on an interview I listened to with Pete Owens from the park. 5. Although these are not really for 2014, I am excited for the Dream More resort at Dollywood in 2015, as well as seeing how not only their multi-year expansion plans unfold, but also the future expansion Carowinds is planning, and whatever else SFOG has up their sleeve for the next few years. -

Funniest Ride Experiences
Jhcbiinoc replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mountain Slidewinder at Dollywood. I have never laughed so hard during and after a ride. The last time I rode, we had maxed the boat and I seriously thought we were going to keep going at the end of the slide! -
B&M Wing Rider Coasters - Love or Hate?
Jhcbiinoc replied to jfruge's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only been on Wild Eagle, and I love it; the drop is great, and I think the zero g roll is epic. Not having ridden the others, I cannot comment on those, but I would anticipate that I would enjoy them as well. I think it is a great design concept, and the only areas I can think of where they could improve on it would be: -Adjust it so there does not have to be a max height limit on the coaster; I am not sure if this is because of clearance or the restraints but I feel they would have more success with it if they did not have the max-height; -Fix the issue with the restraints tightening. It has never bothered me, but I have friends who have had discomfort from it; -Perfect the rotating seats and develop their own take on the 4D coaster. I would imagine they are working on all of the above. I have thought about it, and if I were building a park where I could only have one major steel coaster, it would likely be a B&M Wing Coaster. I know they are not popular with a lot of people, but the GP loves them, I think they offer a fantastic ride experience, and are visually stunning. -
B&M vs Intamin
Jhcbiinoc replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me, it's B&M all the way, no contest. Impeccable safety record, smooth, reliable, visually impressive, high capacity and re-rideable coasters, and flawless engineering. Nine of my top ten steel coasters are B&M (X2 is still the #1), and while all of them night not be considered to be very forceful they are all great rides to me. If I were building a park, I would go to B&M for all of the "big" steel coasters as I would go to GCI (and RMC) for wooden. The only thing I wish they would do is come out with their take on the 4th Dimension coaster... -

^Great photos, thanks for posting! I am actually planning to make a trip out there next year to ride this, as one of my friends whose finance is a coaster fanatic lives less than an hour from KI. Would be great to check out Diamondback as well as I hear good things about it. -

I think it was a fantastic addition to KI's lineup and a good fit, and although there is no way to be certain until anyone rides it, it looks as if this will be one of B&M's best inverted models in a long time. Great layout, unique and not so cookie cutter, and that drop and zero-g look epic to me. Not only that, but the marketing was brilliant. The Bat fake site was a great diversion from the leaked blueprints that turned out to be real. All in all, I think KI hit a home run with this and I hope it pays off well for them. -
Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion Thread
Jhcbiinoc replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That's the rumor I have heard in several places...they already have a sit down, and I don't see them getting an inverted/flyer/hyper. Given the success of Wild Eagle and the fact that it offers thrills while still being family friendly (especially with the 50" height requirement) I could definitely see them going that route. -

Silver Dollar City is a fantastic park, I am going out there in October and it will be my first visit since the 80s. Although I am most looking forward to Outlaw Run and Wildfire, it will be great to see how much the park has progressed. I have been hearing a rumor in several places of another major new B&M coaster for 2015, so they must be doing well. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Jhcbiinoc replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks, I was not sure. Looking at the blueprints again, I am seeing what *looks* to be 8 inversions: -Dive Loop -Vertical Loop -Zero-G -Weird element that has two inversions -Vertical Loop -Two consecutive zero-g rolls/inline rolls/flatspins in between the two helixes It's difficult to tell for sure but seeing the twist of the track I see two more inversions of some kind after the first helix. I am wondering what the pretzel looking element is-it appears from what can be seen that it is some kind of figure 8 thing. Even with what appears to be the real plans visible, there are still some blanks to be filled in later this week. One thing is for certain: whether this was an allowed leak or not, the park sure is getting a lot of buzz over it! -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Jhcbiinoc replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think the record(s) will be: -Most inversions on an inverted coaster at 7 or 8 (I might be incorrect, but I think all of the current inverts only have 6 or less; in any event, I see 7-8 in the blueprints.) -Height record for inverted coaster (over 200 feet tall); can't tell yet. There might be others, but that's just what I think from the information known at this point. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Jhcbiinoc replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Based on the blueprints, I think the "mid course" brakes will actually come at the end of the ride, similar to how it is on Tatsu. I feel bad for KI...they obviously tried so hard to keep this a secret, down to track not being out in the open at CSF-and then the blueprints were leaked. I hope in the future we don't see perimeter fences and armed guards around CSF! One thing I do find interesting: the way certain parts of the blueprints were covered (perhaps to conceal the manufacturer name or the coaster name/logo) and the fact that the video has not been taken down and the park has not commented make me wonder if this might have been a "sanctioned leak"...in any case, I am anxious to see the full reveal next week. I think a weekend trip to KI might become part of my travel plans for 2014... -

I would say yes, absolutely! If you enjoy a great swimming hole, waterfalls and a nice natural area it is one of Missouri's best state parks.
