Why are parks going for the new B&M trains?
jarmor replied to tigerlaw's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The best way to get an accurate answer is to experience yourself. I use to wonder why the folks at KI loved the eagles sooo much but then I rode them and realized what the hype was about! -

Not really. While it looks good, it also doubles as a braking mechanisim. So it actually serves more of a purpose than just being pleasing on the eyes and a cool feature... -
just a basic coaster, something I did to break the cycle of river runner before I got bored with it lol! It's not the best constructed but it will do! This is suppose to be an intamin prefab woodie. I decided to make it that since going to GADV and el toro being down! hrp2.nltrack

Well my non-expert, expert opinion is that this coaster seems pretty original to me. It seems that B&M hypers are building on themselves and evolving. I mean it started out with the typical out and back style of apollo and now features sweeping drops multi helicies and various angles. There isnt much you can do with a coaster that only features hills and turns. I, for one, am glad cedar fair isn't into making hyper clones like the supermans and the goliaths. they are giving each park their individual hyperness...except CAROWINDS!!!! -

Hey it could be worst...the park could have ended up with a used boomerang! -
lol I like how you called the animals "things" when yu didnt know what they were. I would have done the same thing lol

^ I just get into a trance and start building then realize its 5 in the morning lol! Its extremely difficult escpecially when you are trying to put the buildings in on an angle. Some buildings have like 40+ segments to create them. NL is like a CAD program where nothing is premade for you. Now there are 3DS programs but I cannot understand them lol so I do it the old fashion way. The fencing is coming along. some I have to hand make, the others I had 3DS fencing and have to resize them to the desired size. -
Thats the reason I have seen alot of people say they arent going. While they arent saying it in those exact words thats the just of it. No park is built for coaster junkies but I find it hillarious that you say by people who are looking for coasters not going to the park isnt gonna make or break them. It looks like its breaking them from my seat... Im trying to give you the benefit of the doubt here but its hard to do that. I would think the established business in the area WOULD know more about the tourism than anyone coming in from no where and thinking they can "figure" it out. Just because 14mil come to vacation doesnt mean they will automatically run to the park. Thats like saying just because walmart sees 14mil a week means i'm def gonna get a profit off my onion scented bunyon remover... it doesnt matter how much the market the park at this point there is simply not enough show, rides, concerts to keep someone in the park. In in todays society people can turn on a channel and see the shows and concerts so why travel all the way to HRP to see a show when you can do that in your home town. I travel to SFOG because I simply cannot find a goliath in my neighborhood. I travel to Dollywood because the thunderhead just hasn't found its way i my city. I travel to IOA because spiderman beats any playground around my neck of the woods. No matter what you wanna believe people travel for the rides. How many people have taken trips to theme parks and come back and rave about the shows? HRP is generic to me. Nothing unique to make it any different from any park, carnival, fair so when it comes to having a family vacation would a family choose to go listen to live music, drinking beer on a lake or standard shows or a unique experience they could have at any busch gardens park or a seaworld. Knowing is half the battle...I know about the local go-kart track in my area but does that mean I wanna go? Nope not at all. I knew about wild west world but did that make me wanna book my flight? Absolutely not. I know about ripleys haunted adventure at the beach but it doesnt seem that interesting. Im not trying to be a jack but your "logic" is what runs business in the hole. The people have said time and time again the rides are the backbone of every theme park. The shows and food follows. It would be different if the park had atleast 2-3 out of this world unique rides but to have a partially working "ferris wheel" lift coaster with a lackluster coaster section leaves alot to be desired.

Idea's just keep popping in my head lately lol lol. I really wish I could make theming of my owns then I would be estatic about NL! Well I decided to add a splash battle style attraction using the 3DS from a coaster done on coastersims.com. I think its more challanging to have to use someone else theming and make it work for you so here are some shots! I wish it was a way to have it actually work... -

as always...more shots! These shots show off the enviroment around the ride. You have a snack bar, a photoshop for the coaster, an apparell store, a sit down resturant, and a restroom! I just finished an outdoor stage area and working on the entrance to the land! And thinking up something to get you guys involve in the planning process so stay tuned!! -

aside from what has been said I really liked the design. Something simple and unique. You dont see too many x-car coasters around here so that was cool! Loved the color scheme. The only thing I can say is that it hit the brakes a little too sudden other than that I liked it! -

Everything about dark knight basically sucked! lol I really was expecting alot from that coaster (even knowing it was a mouse and all) but Skull Mountian gave it a run for it's money as far as theming! They basically put up a steel frame and covered it with siding. No actual insulation or walls from what I can see. I mean you can pretty much hear everything from outside of the building when walking by I decided not to do coney island since I have done it several times in the past and nothing has changed. But thanks! Ok yesterday on my way back...once finding out Griffon was closed, I decided to go to kings dominion instead. And to my suprise DOMINATOR was DOWN also!!! Just my luck! But I decided to go in anyway since I was doing the 29.99 after 4 ticket. The park had a crowd but it wasnt crowded. I first went to Itali....err...back lot stunt coaster. I have to admit I really liked the coaster. The helix was pretty intense and all the effects were working. Although there was no audio on the cars it was still a really fun ride. I strongly feel now that hard rock park should have opted for this shelf model instead of that lame coaster it has now from premier coasters. They could have themed it up soo nicely and it would still be a family coaster. Now remember I'm with my brother and he has never been on pretty much any type of roller coaster that KD has so we headed to FOF. I just told him it was a "ride" based around space lol. He actually watched it launched but didnt say much about looking at it. When we launched he went crazy lol. He was like "where did all of this come from" lol. He didnt see the ride building in the back. Now, while we are talking about FOF...what is up with the que building? Is that a haunted house inside of it for the halloween event or one of cedar fairs bright ideas? And who's idea was it to turn all the lights on in the building and have absolutely no themeing working in the que area?? And I think they have brighten up the lights in the ride building and not use as many colored spotlights as it use to. Anyway...moving right along...my brother LOVES top spins (i mean after all thats all our fair gets that's kinda cool" so he wanted to ride tomb rai....ummm...the crypt. I have heard horror stories on this site about it being a nut cruncher so I was abit worried but I had a blast on that thing and it didnt hurt my nuts at all. I guess its from all the usage they get lol...oops TMI!! From there we went on to avalanche. He was stoked when he saw it had no track lol. I finally got the courage to ride drop zone. I have never been on a bad drop tower and this one is the most frightening. We went over to ricochet and I told him this is the "better dark Knight" and pointed out that this one isnt loud or vibrates lol! I decided to go take a spin on grizzly. That is one great coaster. It packs a mean punch and very fun...to me. While leaving out I decided to go check out dominators area and saw some construction workers panging on a section in the cobra roll. I decided to pull out my phone and try to get a shot of the crane near it then some fat park employee chick comes over and act like she was dick tracy or someone. SHe was all like they dont like their pictyres taken and blah blah. Now mind you, I am on a 1.3mp CAMERA PHONE! There is no way I would have been able to get a clear shot of their bodies let alone their faces. I basically told her no and just walked away. Well thats it folks and I will post the pictures I took with my phone as soo as I can! -
