I am not sure if anyone has noticed this but on Six Flags Great Adventure's web site they are stating that the height of the lift is 188 ft but in the press release and on rcdb they are stating 181 ft. Does anyone know which height is accurate not like a few feet maters but I was just curious. This is from the construction journal Dec. 2- Bent erection on the lift hill continues at a steady pace. With the erection of bents 48 and 49 we should reach a height of 164 feet by the end of this week. The 188-foot height for the lift should be completed by Christmas. Demolition is finished in the area where Bugs Bunny National Park will occupy. The section is currently in the engineering design process. Planning and zoning application have been submitted and approved with a resolution expected by Dec. 5. Construction of this area will begin immediately in Jan. 2006. SFGADV - Chiller. It has speed, inversions, height, reverse, and on occasions the trains seem to cross each others paths in the inversions. Just hope Batman side is open next yr I prefer that one over Robin. The layouts combined have a lot of other coasters elements incorporated so it makes for a great ride. Be really nice if they will allow the ride to race again it looked amazing when they did.

News: Say goodbye to Mr. Six!
MF310ryb replied to ScOtT k's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sad to see Mr. six go he was a catchy add that worked. People may not of gone to the parks due to the bad crowds but at least Mr. six and the Venga Boys music stood out in peoples minds. That's a great marketing strategy. Snyder's clean safe fun motto is what every park should be like. I just hope he is able to clean up the bad crowds that go to some of these parks America and GADV and I guess SFMM. I have never seen it bad but only been there in the winter months when the crowds are not at their peak. If he is able to help eliminate the ghetto trash people then his motto will be great. These guests ruin it and make the parks not clean safe and fun. I have seen so many fights and foul language even the kids with some of these families are following in their foot steps. I have even seen a girl get beat up by her boyfriend in the middle of the park no lie. I really think that's why people don't go to the parks as much. You don't see that happening at Disney or Cedar Point. It's scary their are people like this I would not bring my little cousin to the park in the summer only spring when the crowds are at there lowest and calm. These are places for us to forget all the bad in the world and just relax and have fun. I wish the new CEO and team the best of luck with the crowds that come to some of these parks its definitely a different ball game. -
Superman The Escape
MF310ryb replied to Goliathdude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know what to say to this cause I can say a lot of rides at SF parks that I have seen are not always running the way they are supposed to be running. When I was at SFMM a few yrs ago Superman was not running fast at all we went maybe less then half way up and of course that same side in your picture was in operation. I am not sure why SF is unable to have the rides running the way there designed. Tower of Terror in Australia goes all the way from pictures I have seen. Does anyone know the last time Superman raced? Not to keep it on SFMM but even my home park Chiller blue was closed the whole season. Why can't they get these rides working properly is it due to the ride or they would rather buy multi million dollar rides instead of fixing what they have? I have only been to a few SF parks has anyone else experienced this at the other locations? -
Expedition Ge Force could kill you?
MF310ryb replied to TheStig's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still don't understand why so many people have to say roller coasters are dangerous or deadly. If you know you have a serious internal condition of any kind don't ride the rides. Take the time and read all the warning signs and ask the ride operators for advise. The news media and the rest of the population including that senator from MA needs to understand that. Other wise we should all stop eating, driving cars, flying airplanes, hell sex could cause someone to have a heart attack lets stop and nit picking. My god over analyzing everything today we will find out that walking can cause us to fall and break a bone. Its getting way out of hand all this rides are dangerous stuff. Theme parks and ride manufactures would not make dangerous rides cause then they would never make a profit. Sorry every time I read articles or hear this topic it aggravates me cause there are more important things in the world today then idiot peoples not reading warning signs. Do you not read the warning label on medicine before taking it? Once again sorry I just had to vent. Thanks for listening. -
The Revolution--back in the day
MF310ryb replied to coasterboy76's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember watching it in National Lampoons Vacation when they went to Wally World and I always wanted to ride it. I rode The Revolution a few years ago for the first time. I was so disapointed. I wish they still had the lap bars cause I could imagine it was a great ride back in the day. I actually compared it to riding the old Viper at GADV painful. If they ever go back to the lap bars I'll fly back in a heart beat to ride it. -
Most Excited About?
MF310ryb replied to coasterguy618's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I feel the world is lucky next year. Every park is getting a unique coaster and I am sure all of them will not disappoint. I know I expected a lot from SFMM with Tatsu but I'm sure that ride will be good. I think El Toro will be more of a coaster to shock you since it looks amazing with these ground hugging turns. Speed Monster I have got to get on that Pretzel looking Loop looks awesome. The theme of Black Mamba looks amazing. I voted for El Toro cause I had to pick one and since its closer I know I will have more of a chance to ride it more. Over all I think Black Mamba will be one of the best next year with all those feet choppers it might have. Any one want to loan me some money? LOL -
Disneyland Paris (DLP) Discussion Thread

Dude this ride looks awesome. I always wanted to ride that gnarly current with the wicked exit to Sydney. -
Can anyone help me comprehend why Premier parks put 25 new rides in SFGADV in 99 when they acquired SF? Over the years all of those rides have been relocated out of the park to other parks. I love roller coasters but what about a good flat ride. It seems they only keep the flats that don't work. If Rodeo did go to SFOT then the only rides left from that huge expansion is LTS, Top Spin, Medusa, Jolly Roger, Black Beards. I think its sad. Granted we are getting an awesome wooden coaster another kiddie section, and a family ride. I just don't understand. Is SFGADV just a storage park till they find the actual home they should of placed the rides in? I don't mean to vent but I think its ridiculous. Past rides from 99 Evolution - granted it didn't work but they spent the money to relocate it and fix it Pirates Flight - went to SFWOA now GL Jump - never worked but still could of been fixed does anyone really play paint ball? Time Warp - there's a stage in its place Octopus ride - never worked could of been fixed Pendulum - a great flat ride SFGA I think some of the others were in the old BBL And now Rodeo? I'm happy about another coaster but loosing more rides for coasters with slow crews will only make the park more crowed and lines longer. The crowds that go are not the friendliest bunch.

How You Became an Enthusiast
MF310ryb replied to MSLSM's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I became an enthusiast in the summer of 1988 when my Uncle took me on Rolling Thunder at SFGADV. It was my first roller coaster. I was scared to death at the time made a huge scene. I think the fellow guests thought he was a bad person. When the train returned to the station I was all smiles. I have been hooked ever since. He is definitely a great Uncle if he didn't take me on that one ride I don't know what I would be doing. -
^ I agree SFGADV really does not have any local competition I also cant see them pulling 5 mill a year maybe a couple mill a year if that. They are the companies highest revenue park and was listed in the top 20 most attended parks in the U.S. only SF park to be in that list. Its geographic location would be great for Cedar Fair. Plus the park is not fully developed they have a lot more land to use so it could be the Cedar Point on the East Coast. Lots of room for hotels more rides restaurants or whatever. I think GADV is a good buy for anyone looking to purchase a park or the company. I am not saying this cause its my home park its just Obvious. The only down side about the park is the park is a GIANT Wetland. So the ground would have to be reinforced and with the NJ laws protecting Wetlands it maybe hard to get building approval.

Awesome Video made my eyes tear thanks. That park will definitely be missed. I only wish I was able to of experienced it.

Which Coaster Is Smoother?
MF310ryb replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Generally B&M's are smoother at the same time Intamin's are smooth. Both companies design their rides great. I also think the smoothness depends more on the style of the train and how the wheels interact with the transitions. Also didn't B&M work for Intamin before branching out onto their own? -
Cedar Point wasting money with Skyhawk?

Cedar Point wasting money with Skyhawk?
MF310ryb replied to TopThrill1125's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Isn't this ride a paid attraction? So if it is then the through put should not be a question because a lot of people will not pay extra money for rides. I just hope this ride works better then the Eruption rides there nothing but paper weights. Not to mention there boring. -
Wild CP rumor.
MF310ryb replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can not see a 500 ft flyer that is insane you would have to be crazy to go on that. You pull so many G's in the pretzel loop at 60 mph. When your at 500 ft your going well over 100 mph that is too much I would not even think of going on it. If it was a sit down like MF then I would start booking my hotel. -
SFI Spills the Beans a bit
MF310ryb replied to ParkTrips's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If I'm not mistaken I read an article that Snyder threatened to sue SFI for them selling off the asset and or selling off any other assets. He wanted to put a freeze on it. Cedar Fair was looking to buying that park as well so anything is possible. When you run a multi billion company you can manipulate anything. -

MF310ryb replied to ParkTrips's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ according to my friends that work at GADV they are not getting SWAT and said that they wish they were so I would check your sources. Plus with the stockholders voting on Monday. If they vote Snyder in he wont close Astro World so SWAT will not be going any where. -
I have to say my home park GADV. The crowds that go there are ridiculous. They have no care for humans. Between yelling pushing fighting at times anyone remember the Halloween riot of 04'? Little kids are subjected to language from other parents and kids. The park needs a V-Chip to sensor the crowds. Their security is sadly under staffed since I don't always see a guard when I'm there waiting hours for a ride. The lines are where most of the violence starts. I feel bad for the staff that has to deal with the abuse for minimum wage and that goes for all other parks that have poor crowds. The only time GADV has nice crowds are the beginning of the season before the inner city people remember its even open. The only issue I had at SFMM is the staff. Those employees could care less they walk around with an attitude of whatever. Say hi to someone its not that hard. At SFA I saw an employee riding the back of Ride Of Steal that's so smart I may want to wait an hour and play chicken. I wonder how much is the parks location or just the parks management. They can control who they allow in right?

Boomerang Or Giant Inverted Boomerang?
MF310ryb replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like the Invertigo but when I rode Deja Vu I was blown away. I loved the vertical aspect over the inclined.
