  1. Nope, sorry. Anyone else?
  2. ^ Yeah, probably. Where this be?
  3. Toss in another vote for Doctor Doom's Fearfall, at IOA; It's a great space shot, with excellent theming.
  4. Well, I'm "from" California. But my home park is (currently) Dollywood, about 2 miles up the road. V.I.Me parking at Dollywood.
  5. You know, I was thinking about this. In some ways, The Voyage is actually the opposite of (my idea of) a terrain coaster--since instead of following the terrain, it mostly just blasts through it like it's in the way! While it's probably not "the best," Gold Rusher at SFMM more fits my idea of a terrain coaster. Kennywood's Thunderbolt may be the best mix of "great ride" and "terrain-following" that I've ridden. But, then again, I've yet to ride Boulder Dash. Gold Rusher Photo: Ric Turner
  6. Three favorites, eh? Okay. Arrow Mad Mouse car. This one is from Valleyfair! (Photo: Duane Marden, RCDB.) Millennium Force's slightly oversized Intamin megacoaster trains. (Photo: Joel Rogers, Coastergallery.com) Corball Express' old school PTC's with single position lap bars. (Photo from RCDB.)
  7. Yes indeed, Julie--Back to the Future at USF. Your turn.
  8. It opened about a week late, and it's been having lots of downtime so far. Supposedly, they're waiting for a part from Germany at the moment.
  9. Spent a couple hours at Dollywood this morning, since the crowds don't generally show up until about noon on Sundays. And--aren't you folks lucky--I brought my camera! Dolly does the big themers one better, and makes you exit the park through retail! Alas, back to the real world.... Yay, a construction photo of Mystery Mine! Of course, there's not much to see yet. But still. Did I mention the trees? Here's arguably the smoothest and best Arrow looper in existence, the short but intense Tennessee Tornado. The best "on ride" photo I could get. As you can see, the animatronics are very "Knott's-ish." Blazing Fury is an indoor darkride/powered coaster. It's also quite difficult to photograph. That didn't stop me from trying, though. One of the cool/funky things about Dollywood is the way buildings are just plopped down in the middle of midways. This is the Blacksmith shop. Daredevil Falls is well themed, nicely paced, and not too wet. The drop's not bad, either. Sky Rider looks cool, but it's pretty darn dull. You can move those wing things around with a lever, but it doesn't actually do much. Smoky Mountain River Rampage. I got nothin'. Dollywood has a lot of trees. Rockin' Roadway is in there somewhere, too. I wasn't allowed in here, since I was Sad and Pathetic today. Timber Tower remains closed. That's okay, I wasn't too impressed by it anyway. The area is nice, though. First stop was Thunderhead. And it was running very well! Good air, and no roughness--even in the back seat. Dollywood's "Butterfly" flowerbed and Main Entrance.
  10. Hey, I liked this thread! What happened? Paging HCOSurfer90: Dude, you need to post a picture now.
  11. The possible removal of LeMan's at BGE has got me thinking about these suckers. On my first ride on it, distracted by shouting from the Sky Ride, I nearly ran over a ride op. Good ride, and my favorite of its type until recently. But now I'm gonna have to go with.... The scenery is pretty nice, too. I also like how at one point you pass right by the entrance road and real cars. So what's your favorite? ...and the safety announcements disguised as radio commercials. I love the station theming.... Rockin' Roadway at Dollywood
  12. ^ Scream! opened in 2003.
  13. Intamin (more than perhaps any other ride manufacturer) will build anything you want. "I want it to be 800 feet high and made of cheese--but I don't want to spend a lot of money. Oh yeah, and it has to transmute lead to gold." "Yes, we can do that for you." I'm just saying....

  15. Well, basically, that island is ignored. On purpose. So as not to damage the park's relationship with Audrey Geisel (Dr. Suess' widow).
  16. California's is better. More effects, more dinosaurs, and airtime on the drop! On the other hand, it also gets you wetter--by a wide margin.
  17. Yes indeed. And that was a walking taco (in all its glory) in the first picture, by the way.
  18. Okay, I guess it's too hard. Here's another--hopefully easier--photo from the same park.
  19. I really like all of the Arrow suspendeds that I've ridden--with the exception of Iron Dragon, which is rather dull--but Top Gun is my favorite. I do wish somebody would build a new one, though.
  20. Yay, I win a basketball! Now I can drive everybody else in this park crazy by bouncing it! My turn: It's a park! But is it easy, or hard?
