  1. According to CP's Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/cedarpoint Blog Update: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/2010/5/21/Shoot_the_Rapids_Update.cfm
  2. ^ I agree also. When I go in August, I would like to ride it and not have the trains half falling apart by then. If it means they can continually run both trains with much less problems, then so be it. It is what it is.
  3. It would probably be more than a few. It might be the difference of 20 MPH or so. The general public are attracted to high thrills and fast speeds. Maverick is most likely going to go over better with the GP by launching at 70 MPH rather than 50 MPH (exaggeration). Being such a low to the ground coaster, the general public would probably perceive it as a kiddie coaster if it just meandered slowly throughout the course. Launching at 70 MPH gives it that *wow factor* and makes people say, "Holy **** this is fast!" rather than "This is kind of boring..." Look at Formula Rossa. It will launch riders at 149 MPH, but from looking at pictures, it will hit a massive set of trims immediately after. Same goes for Ring Racer (yes, I know it has been having problems, but the point still stands). You think it would be as appealing to people if it only launched at, say 80-90 MPH? Don't get me wrong, that's still very appealing, just not as appealing as 135+ MPH.
  4. ^ I doubt the hype and excitement would have been nearly as high. Look at Intimidator at Carowinds. Yes it still got great praise, but it seemed, to me at least, that it was constantly in the shadow of I305, because it was just another 230' B&M cookie cutter. I'm just spit-balling here, but I believe that Kings Dominion wanted something that would put them on the map, and I don't think a cookie-cutter B&M Hyper would have done that, whereas I305 has a MUCH better chance of accomplishing said task. Trimmed or not, the lift hill is still 305 feet tall, and that's going to attract a lot more people than if it were 200-250 feet tall.
  5. ^ Cedar Point was packed because it's Math and Science week, not because it didn't rain.
  6. I wonder what crowds might be like next week, for "Amusement 101 Week?" I believe it is new this year or last. It sounds the same as Math and Science Week, which was this week, but in the same regard, I would assume that a LOT of the schools would be there for M&S week instead, and crowds won't be all that bad. Now, considering next weekend is Memorial weekend, I think it's safe to say that Friday, and maybe even Thursday, might have heavier crowds than normal and should be steered clear of, but I'm wondering about Monday through Wednesday.
  7. According to other trip reports, it's giving some of the worst rides it's given in years. Take that for what it's worth.
  8. ^ While I have yet to go this year, I have heard that in past years.
  9. Do you plan to list this on Amazon in the future?
  10. ^ Meh, it is what it is. I have never waited more than a couple minutes before being moved into the station, and besides, I can sacrifice a little time sitting on the brake run if it means me not having to wait as long in line.
  11. Those arguments are really getting old. Have you not watched the past few seasons, especially when he LED his team to a SC? I'm sorry he's being a little physical, trying to defend himself, it's called hockey. But what am I saying, under coach Stevens, the Flyers would throw hissy fits all the time, so you already know all about that. I think it's time to get out of 2005 and move on.
  12. ^ Haha yeah, very true. Cedar Point will always be Cedar Point, and that "bad publicity" most likely won't even make a ripple. You mention Cedar Point to a lot of GP in this area and they go nuts, going on and on about how it's the best place ever. Delays like this don't really even do anything, and CP can afford to absorb that "bad publicity"...if there even is any at all.
  13. The majority of the GP, most likely, won't even know it was delayed once it's open on a regular basis.
  14. ^^ Adding to that...It's not because the ride has horrible capacity, quite the contrary, the line is also constantly moving.
  15. Sky Rocket was topped off according to KW's Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=169283&id=123450319864
  16. ^ Did you read the past few pages? Mr. Kinzel, himself, has CONFIRMED that the 2011 ride has "already been ordered" and is "aimed at thrill seekers." It's not like we just conjured this up from nothing...
  17. Great pics! Can't wait to get out there for myself!
  18. ^ I don't know if it will ever be fully appreciated because of that reputation, but it's still a very nice ride. It seems more like a "conveniently there when it's hot" type of ride, and not so much a ride that the GP is going to eat right up...at least not right away. While it doesn't seem like it now, I'm sure the GP will be dying to ride it, and in turn, thankful it's there when it's 100 degrees.
  19. ^ Wouldn't there be some sort of activity, whether it just be markers, if it were a new coaster? EDIT: I take that back. Looking at Renegade's thread, markers just started to show up in August of 2006, and Renegade opened in 2007. It's just that, like I said, Mr. Kinzel's quote of "There's more thrill rides than coasters" leads me to believe that this isn't a roller coaster. Another possibility I just thought of is a Disk-O, but is that really aimed at thrill seekers? Knowing Cedar Point, they'd probably make it the tallest and fastest of it's kind, so you never know.
  20. Yeah, I would be disappointed in a Top Spin also. I'm not a fan of them, and aren't they plagued with problems anyway? I don't think CP would want to take on that burden (at least I hope not). I'm betting it's something newer. I sure wouldn't mind a 300 foot Intamin Gyro drop to replace Demon Drop. I think that's too much wishful thinking, though.
  21. Judging by this line from Kinzel, "There’s more thrill rides than roller coasters" I'm guessing that it won't be a coaster. Jeff Putz from PointBuzz speculates that it will be a Huss TopSpin. If it were an Intamin woodie, or a coaster of similar magnitude, wouldn't we see some sort of activity/construction by now? If it isn't a Huss Top Spin, I'm guessing it's a ride that's at least of similar size, and isn't much bigger.
  22. ^ One would think that it would at least be put back together already, though. Unless they have a potential buyer and don't want to put it back together, only to have to take it apart right away. We'll see I guess.
  23. Wow, after Red Dragon, I will surely be following this very closely! Looks great!
  24. Great pictures! Regarding Chaos, it's for sale I believe. I wonder if it will even open at all this year? Regarding Wicked Twister, was it closed all day? If so, that sucks, WT is a must ride for me when I go to CP.
  25. Ha, watch Montreal get steamrolled. I still say whoever wins the west will win the Cup.
