Underrated Coasters?
coasterbill replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I mentioned Dorney's Thunderhawk in a previous post but I have a few more. Thunderbolt - Six Flags New England This coaster doesn't have much airtime (it has some very quick pops) and I can't put my finger on why I like it so much but it's a great ride. It throws you around (in a fun way), but the ride is very smooth and comfortable. The turns aren't really banked at all and it has a fun double down... it's a great classic coaster. Raptor - Cedar Point I know calling anything at Cedar Point underrated seems kind of strange, I actually think that Raptor is. It's always overlooked in discussions about Cedar Point, but it's long, forceful layout makes for a great ride. I may be biased because B&M inverts are one of my favorite coaster types and I always ride them in the front row... but this ride is great. Ninja - Six Flags Magic Mountain We went to SFMM for the first time in over a decade earlier this year and besides Tatsu, Batman and Apocalypse, this was our favorite coaster in the park (mainly because of how unique it is). The close proximity to the lake really adds to the sense of speed. It's fast paced, disorienting and is one of the only coasters in the park that actually takes advantage of Magic Mountain's unique terrain. We liked this ride so much, we actually ended the night on it (though we wanted to go up in the Skytower at night and that did play a role in the decision). The only problem with this coaster is that it's a huge pain in the ass to get to. Goliath - Six Flags New England I don't know why this ride was so strongly disliked at SFMM but I find it to be smooth, fun and actually a little terrifying on the back spike. -
What Makes or Breaks a Ride For You?

I'd agree with this, especially with steel coasters. I don't mind if wood coasters are a little rough as long as they don't have PTC trains with individual lap bars. Since I'm pretty tall, I have to sit slightly sideways which doesn't bother me if the ride is smooth... but on rougher coasters it bothers me a lot. -

Probably because they don't want us to see what's going on inside the launch / show building they're building now. -
Windseeker Status
coasterbill replied to Koasterking48's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I see nothing from Knot's office facebook page. Which would make sense since most people in Southern California have no interest in whether or not the Kings Dominion Windseeker is open. -

It's about time Power Tower had a sign. Very nice! -

I actually think Flight of Fear is the best ride in the park. These are very underrated coasters. -
Other than the Great Adventure Viper, it's now officially the worst ride I've ever been on. It's a complete torture device and was the biggest disappointment of our west coast coaster trip earlier this year. Not only did this ride suck, but we had to wait 30 minutes for it even with platinum flash passes.

First Defunct B&M?
coasterbill replied to 11slataus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not only do I disagree with this, but I actually think the inverted coasters maintain their smoothness better than any other B&M coaster type. Almost all of the floorless coasters have developed a rattle, as have many of the older hypers... but I find the inverted coasters (including the Magic Mountain and Great Adventure Batman rides) to be perfectly smooth and one of B&M's best rides. The B&M Rattle is noticeable, but these coasters are all still very enjoyable. I don't mean to make it a bigger deal than it is, I'm just pointing out that I have never noticed it on any B&M invert that I've ridden. The Batman rides are perfect, I see no reason to change anything about them (or do something stupid like turn the trains around backwards... ahem) and I definitely don't see any of them being removed in the near future. -

Absolutely. Knoebels is a great bargain. You'll be able to get on plenty of rides for $40 each. -

They should use this in their promotional literature. -

Great addition to the park. I can't wait to ride it this fall. -

I don't think anyone will notice new paint on the gray lift hill supports but okay... have at it. -
Went to the park yesterday and after visiting the park at least 25-30 times over the last 13 years I finally channeled my inner whore and rode Road Runner Railway (#180). I felt like I reached the pinnacle of nerdiness but the people behind us singing "Happy Birthday to Nitro" through the bunny hills assured me that I have a long way to go (apparently Nitro turned 12 years old yesterday).

I just deleted it since you posted it anyway. I almost always give a source but I saw it scrolling through Facebook and was in a hurry. I wasn't trying to steal anyone's thunder. Regarding the lift hill, I agree with Coasterfreak101. El Toro hasn't changed at all since they slowed the lift down so I'm really not concerned even if that is permanent. -

Those are great pictures! Kudos to Cedar Point for sending them.
