  1. Great Escape. For a corporate park this is just getting ridiculous. - They have only had one adult coaster in their history that wasn't relocated and it's a Boomerang. - Their last new adult coaster was a relocated mine train... 11 years ago - Since Great Escape got it's last coaster (a kids coaster in 2005), every other Six Flags park got at least 2 new coasters - Every coaster at this park sucks except for the Comet (the bobsled is okay but has huge lines and closes at 6 pm)
  2. I'm guessing it would be way too much work to put Bat on Fastlane due to it's insanely long and narrow queue line. They probably couldn't divide it so they'd need to build a new path. That's a shame as it's really one of the best coasters in the park.
  3. I think they've dropped that slogan finally. It's not featured prominently on their website or on the cart that was delivered to the park.
  4. This is kind of cool I guess but the place has really become an eyesore. The city needs to demolish it, if they actually spend $73 million to renovate it then they're idiots (I know this event isn't about renovation but when I saw that at the end of the linked article I couldn't believe it).
  5. I'm just happy there are shade canopies. Gatekeeper's queue doesn't have any of them in the portion of the line that's actually full all of the time, but they have plenty over by the lake in the part of the queue that's only full when the line is huge.
  6. I'd go with #3. You're on vacation so it's okay to splurge a little if you can afford it. It sounds like you're going to have a great time... then again it's impossible to go on any trip that involves Knoebels and not have a great time.
  7. I don't care at all if parks recycle ride names on random rides but while we're on the subject this one has to be the dumbest.
  8. This really depends on what records you feel are important enough to include and if we're only including world records. Off the top of my head... Kingda Ka: World's Tallest Coaster Beast: World's Longest Wood Coaster Lex Luthor: World's Tallest Drop Tower Leap the Dips: World's Oldest Coaster El Toro: World's Fastest Wood Coaster SkyCoaster: Fun Spot Kissimmee: World's Tallest Sky Coaster Beyond wood and steel I'm not going to get into world's tallest / fastest / longest **insert type of coaster** here because we could go on forever. For example, I've been on the world's tallest, fastest, slowest, longest, shortest, oldest operating Flying turns coaster.
  9. I would think the ride would be popular (though it still wouldn't make any sense), but for the sake of getting back on topic we should probably agree to disagree.
  10. That drop tower at Knoebels is OMFG insane. It's the best drop tower I've ever ridden (I prefer it to Lex Luthor, the 1st gens and the huge gyro drops at KD and KI... it blows the S&S towers away). That being said no new drop tower would make any sense at Cedar Point at all since they have Power Tower.
  11. Robb is obviously the expert on Orlando but I did want to add one small thing here so you don't make the same mistake we did when we traveled to Orlando for the first time this month. If you do absolutely need to stay at a value hotel, there are a lot of cheap options on I Drive... but for the love of god do not under any circumstances stay at the Metropolitan Resort. This has to be the worst hotel in America. It was so terrible that we ended up eating the cost of the hotel room and staying at the Courtyard Marriot across the street (which was very nice by the way). Don't stay here ever, not even as a joke.
  12. A coaster can be slower than 25 MPH but still awesome and terrifying. Then again the only terrifying thing about this is that it has no upstop wheels and Lakemont park is in charge of maintaining it when they really don't maintain much of anything.
  13. Very nice. Honestly if they planted some trees in that area of the park and got rid of that ugly Go Kart Track I would go so far as to say that that part of the park would look kind of decent (which for SFA is a huge compliment).
  14. I completely agree. Not only did they want to reduce the size of the park, but taxpayers would still be on the hook for a lot of the operating costs. I don't know how they ever went with them in the first place.
  15. My guess is that it will happen but not deliberately. If it happens it will just be due to some lucky timing. Since Cedar Point has Power Tower, I'd say there is absolutely no chance of this ever happening there. I just don't see what the point would be. It would make Power Tower completely obsolete.
  16. Batman is one of the smoothest looping coasters I've ever ridden. How anyone can consider this ride rough but have an SLC as their avatar is beyond me. Bizarro is a good ride, I always ride it when i go to the park and I like it... but it's not even on the same level as Batman which I find smoother (not that Bizarro is rough) and much more intense. I find Bizarro to be a very mediocre floorless coaster. It's better than Hydra, on the same level as Scream! and not quite as good as Dominator or Batman the Dark Knight (I know I rank this higher than a lot of people but it's actually moderately forceful for a 21st century B&M and has the best zero g roll on any coaster I've ridden not named Kumba).
  17. As it stands I actually think Flight of Fear might be the best coaster in the park. I always thought it was vastly underrated.
  18. I think it's important to point out that that post was made before I had my coffee. By the way nobody mentioned re-using ride names in the posts you quoted. I don't think that's a big deal at all. It's low on the list of complaints people have about Six Flags.
  19. I'm not sure how you'd decide what the star of the park is. If you go by ridership that has a lot of additional factors like capacity and uptime, if you just go by what most people would list as their favorite ride then Diamondback might win since a lot of people are afraid of inversions and it doesn't have any. I guess we'll wait and see.
  20. Do you mean to tell me you're not even slightly amused by a park just a few miles from the Jersey Shore having an ad for hair gel that will keep your hair in place on America's fastest coaster? You may not like it but the fact is not having to put more gel in your hair after the ride gives you a lot of extra time to ride other rides, get something to eat, go to the gym, tan or do laundry. I consider this more of a public service announcement than anything.
  21. Great trip report. Make sure you try the Cinnamon Bread next time though.
  22. ^ I love Tomohawk at SFNE... but that's not a giant Frisbee just a regular Frisbee.
  23. In the case of Magic Mountain just assume the answer is always "yes".
