It's coming along very slowly since they're not really paying for most of it. They're paving the lot with (I swear I'm not kidding) a state grant (seriously... not kidding) because the lot will be paved by union apprentices who are learning how to pave parking lots and need something to practice on (still not kidding). It'll only be paved when they have students to do it and want to teach them so it's being done in sections. Link Edit: Sorry for the double post.

DO NOT buy Flash Pass at Six Flags America. It's entirely unnecessary. With a Platinum Flash Pass you get a wristband that allows you to ride the coasters twice in a row without getting off. This probably doesn't include Joker. You can reserve each ride as often as you want but you can only reserve one at a time. There is no limit to how many times you can skip the line on each ride. When you buy it, they'll show you a video explaining how it works. The Platinum is worth is at Great Adventure because it works on Joker but don't buy it until you get to the park as you may not need it depending on crowds. It's likely you will but you never know.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
coasterbill replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Actually this is wrong, it was Alpine Bobsled at Great Escape. That park just left such an impression that I guess I forget I was ever there 3 days after the fact... -
I was mostly trying to make fun of the way you somehow bring Mean Streak into ANY post. I swear that at least 50% of your posts are either about how Mean Streak isn't that bad or Von Roll type 101 sky rides. I know my joke was a bit of a stretch, but I was an opportunity and I went for it! My main takeaway from this is that someone used the term "type 101". I don't even dork out that much but I'm impressed...

They really did a great job expanding their Friday night offerings last year. I think Corkscrew, Gemeni and Mine Ride were the only adult coasters that didn't open. Hopefully that trend continues. Most flats were open too.The only things that were closed that would have bothered me at all were Witches Wheel, Corkscrew, Gemeni and Sky Ride. I understand all of them though except maybe Witches Wheel which you would think could run with 1 op and would be midly popular with the Haloween crowd since it does upside down. I imagine it has to do with employee rotations though. For example I remember hearing that the reason Super Himalaya was closed was because they're the same group of ops that run Corkscrew which was closed. Again though, this is second hand info. Correct me if I'm wrong. -

There is another line later on about "you don't want to get a reputation for rides not opening on time". Sad to say they totally have that reputation mostly because of Top Thrill Dragster and Mean Streak. Mean Streak they no longer even try to open with the park in the morning and it does not even run the entire season, they either close it early so it does not run during Haunt or open it several weeks into the season. That's not true at all. It ran all year last season. It just opened late this year and closed early a few years ago because of a fire that was probably set by some whiny enthusiast but as always... Mean Streak prevailed and has continued to piss off enthusiasts to this very day. -
Trick question... you should go to Knoebels

Vekoma Corkscrew vs Arrow Corkscrew
coasterbill replied to coasterschile's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Arrow had custom designs? Their looping coasters went out of style way too quick because not only were most of them painful, their loopers were a laughable predictable loop, loop, loop, boomerang, and corkscrew. Sure, there were always variations based on the site, but you really can't compare how their designs changed with a company like B&M which just put them to shame in every category. There are so many things wrong with that post... lol First of all, Arrow was possibly the most innovative coaster company in history. Second of all, a "variation in the design" as you put it is a "custom design". Basically all of their coasters were custom designed. Emphasis on "basically", they had a few production models like the corkscrew and I believe the Bat and Vortex are clones of eachother. Third of all, yes... sometimes elements were in the same order, but that doesn't mean they're not custom designed. They also didn't make a major habit of it. And finally... I love that that bothers you the few times that arrow does it but then you cite B&M... a company that constantly repeats the loop - dive loop - barrel roll - cobra roll - 2 corkscrews that often interlock model or sometimes has slight variations on it. With the exception of Fury, B&M churns out more predictable, uninspired, conservative rides than anyone. -
Don't go this year because they have VR on it, but if you go when that's over lines will be reasonable and you can choose your seat. My advice is to ride in row 1. I think your opinion of the ride will improve. It doesn't run like it did with it's original trains and is slightly overrated at this point but it's a great ride. It has solid airtime... a step below rides like El Toro and Phoenix but still very good.

Mean Streak is far too mean to yield for some dumb little storm. Remember, the more enthusiasts complain, the meaner the streak becomes. Don't say I didn't warn you. Mean Streak opens for another glorious day of family fun tomorrow morning at 10AM sharp. Yeah, I'll have more to say about this when I type up my TR, hopefully tomorrow, but your Mean Streak trick worked perfectly. I heard a bunch of people behind me groaning in pain, while I enjoyed my ride in the front seat, leaning forward, laughing and smiling all the way. Glad to hear it! -
The most rare coaster credits
coasterbill replied to Stitch's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The kiddy coaster at Rye Playland. It's a classic coaster with a strict policy on adults riding, but I got the credit when I was a kid. Also, I don't ride kids coaster anymore unless the front car looks like Shamu so my girlfriend makes me. Lol -

Wow, that's insane. I guess I understand though. That causeway cleanup is going to be pretty extensive. -

Mean Streak's footers have been painted orange in an attempt to make them look meaner. Regular footers really don't do the ride justice. -

Assuming that list is accurate it's probably taking into account the exchange rate with Canada's Wonderland and the strong dollar. -
