In today's bizzarro news, it appears that their "the market can support insane prices" theory has collapsed, by virtue of them offering a season pass for slightly less than double the cost of a one-day ticket. Daily ticket on a Saturday: $79 Season Pass through 9/30/22: $139 https://americandream.com/nickelodeon_season_pass/tickets1 point

As a local that basically grew up in this park every season throughout the years this is incredibly disheartening to hear. I still remember when Flight Deck was Top Gun and we had Invertigo, doing the Goldstriker promoshoot, etc /sigh). Especially after the massive expansion plans were announced and them dumping a bunch of money on the waterpark. Although I suppose the writing has been on the wall for years and dumping haunt was another huge red flag. That being said there's a video floating around the internet of the Santa Clara mayor saying the city had NO idea this sale was happening and the city council is extremely upset about it for multiple reasons (youth summer jobs, culture for the area, etc). She even mentioned that as of right now the land is staying zoned for theme park use, so it'll be interesting to see if anything comes out of the city's talks with both CF and Prologis. At the end of the day money talks and if Prologis can prove their new development will provide more jobs, greater economic impact for the city, etc they'll probably give in and re-zone the land. It's all still pretty up in the air at the moment though. (Not sure if I'm allowed to be linking videos or not but it's here:)1 point

I worked at that park, once, in 2003... Those of us in maintenance rejoiced when Stealth formally shut down.1 point

Just got back to my hotel after my first trip to Holiday World. A full report will follow, but here are some bullet points: -Legend, Raven, and Voyage are all insanely good rides for different reasons, despite the roughness on the first and last of those. All have found a place in my Top lists (see signature). I regretted skipping rerides only 15 minutes down the road, but the extreme heat combined with the not-exactly-smooth wooden coasters had given me a recurring headache. -Water coasters are absolutely bonkers! This was my first time going on any of them, and holy shit. Airtime on a water ride! -This is going to be probably a me-only problem, but the water park needs more for solo-traveling adults who are mostly introverted. It's weird getting on a big group-tube with a bunch of randos, sorry not sorry. There's plenty of kids slides and big-tube slides, but there are only three solo slides and they are all super short. -SHADE! After my day at KK yesterday, this day was so much better on my body despite the hills because of the ample shade (excepting the long walk back to Thunderbird). -Anyone who says KK is an objectively better park than this is out of their mind.1 point

New details regarding the replacement for Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and at Disneyland Park have been revealed including the new attraction's name, Tiana's Bayou Adventure! https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/tianas-bayou-adventure-coming-to-disney-parks-in-late-2024/ Strike up the band because we’ve saved a seat for you on this musical journey with Tiana and friends! The name of the new attraction evolving from the reimagining of Splash Mountain was announced today during ESSENCE Fest in New Orleans: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The all-new adventure which will bring guests into the world of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film “The Princess and the Frog” like never before is coming to Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland park in California in late 2024. Walt Disney Imagineers have been frequent travelers to Louisiana while conducting extensive research to ensure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure preserves the heart and soul of the city that inspired Princess Tiana’s story. From exploring the French Market and the bayou, to consulting with academics, chefs, musicians and cultural institutions, Imagineers have received inspiration from all over the region and learned from local experts along the way. This research was explored in detail today at the French Quarter’s historic Preservation Hall during an intimate event held in honor of ESSENCE Fest, happening this weekend in New Orleans. With its own distinct history bringing people together, Preservation Hall was the ideal location to celebrate an attraction where music and community are at the heart of a transformational journey. The celebration included a panel moderated by Victoria Uwumarogie, senior lifestyle editor at ESSENCE Magazine. Joining me in this discussion were colleagues and friends Charita Carter, executive producer of relevancy activations at Walt Disney Imagineering, Ted Robledo, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering and Stella Chase, daughter of the late Chef Leah Chase who inspired Tiana’s story. Guests were treated to live art demonstrations provided by emerging talent from YAYA Arts Center, an organization we’ve engaged to commission artwork from alumna Sharika Mahdi. Music from the world-renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band echoed throughout the hall, along with a performance by the voice of Mama Odie and living legend herself, Jenifer Lewis. Guests are in for a true treat with local flavor when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in late 2024. As Charita Carter shared, “in many ways, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a love letter to New Orleans. Like the musical city that inspired this attraction, Tiana’s second act is about a community working in harmony to achieve something extraordinary. She reminds us of an immutable truth we can all relate to: ‘if you do your best each and every day, good things are sure to come your way.’ And that’s a melody we can all sing along to!” To be able to join New Orleans in the celebration of Black joy as we bring Tiana’s story to its roots is a full-circle moment I’m so proud to realize. Ted Robledo added that “the joie de vivre that animates this region so brilliantly not only inspired Tiana’s journey, but also our team at Walt Disney Imagineering.” It’s our intention to do that jubilant spirit justice when advancing the storyline of Princess Tiana at our parks. First announced in 2020, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take guests on a musical adventure inspired by the beloved story and characters from the fan-favorite film. Picking up where the film left off, guests will join Princess Tiana, Naveen and jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure through the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome. Along the way, guests will encounter familiar faces, make new friends and travel through the bayou to original music inspired by songs from the film as they are brought into the next chapter of Tiana’s story. Be sure to check back here later today for more exciting updates from ESSENCE Fest!1 point

Part 2 of the documentation about the new coaster dropped and I must say I am extremly confused. They showed some of the POV and the trains. At least one of the 7 Trains seems to have the last row facing backwards. I can't quite decipher it from the visual they showed. When they were done showing some POV they suddenly mentioned that they have some changes that they didn't want to show yet. The layout was vastly different from the one that "leaked" weeks ago. If this is the true layout tho, I'm impressed. It looks far better than the "leaked" one. Please look for yourself: Other than that they were on the MACK Rides factory facility and showed some track for another project. They will start to build the coaster itself in the park in January 2023.1 point

I'd bet the B&Ms are toast, from 1991 and 1993. They're short, not on flat ground.. and 30 years old. The park has a stunning background and looks great, Gold Striker is a top tier GCI in my opinion, it will be missed. The surrounding area is what really puzzles me. Yes there's Levi stadium right there but then the rest of the area is office park after office park and we know how quickly those are disappearing with remote work. Curious to see what comes of this.1 point

Anyone know if Falcon's Fury is still down? Headed there in a couple of weeks and I'd hate to miss out on riding it.1 point

So this day actually turned out pretty disappointing. I reached the park that Friday, March 4, got in line for the back for Pantheon, and... got denied Long story short, I've dropped nearly 30 pounds since and got on last night Fun ride but only got one ride in. Looking forward to many more!1 point
