  1. Just one more reason to like KI.

  2. Picture from Vekoma's Instagram of the tilt track sections. Interesting that the caption mentions four tilt coasters. We know of this, Energylandia's and Six Flags Qiddiya, but not sure yet where the fourth is going. Maybe China? Or maybe Energylandia's getting two, just because it's Energylandia and that's the kind of thing they do.

  3. It looks nice standalone like at the original Americana or Coney Island Cincy but when it's against the rest of the modern park with Orion looming, a huge 300ft swing, and Stunt spewing fire across the midway it feels like a contrast. Vortex is gone and that removed a chunk of the ambiance as well with the classic Arrow lift chain, cerchunking trains. Oh but I did forget this is the park that does the pledge of allegiance before the gates open every day so take my personal preference with a grain of salt, haha. This fits perfectly. Nevermind.

(WIVB) — Fantasy Island fans are in luck: the new amusement park taking its place officially has an opening date. It all starts Memorial Day weekend with the opening of the water park and kiddie park. Niagara Amusement Park and Splash World opened briefly last year but hasn’t had a full summer run. The rest of the park will be opening in phases after the initial Memorial Day opening. “Frankly it’s great. It’s been part of Grand Island for over 50 years and to see it fall into complete disrepair and being vandalized was really heartbreaking and now with it coming back to life it’s a renewal, it’s a rejuvenation and we’re very happy to see they’re taking their time and investing their energies into making this come back to fruition,” said Grand Island town supervisor John Whitney. He said the park will have the old charm of Fantasy Island with brand new rides and attractions. “I know they want to do a family-oriented amusement park and they are obviously keeping the water park attractions there. They’re working to get the wave pool that has not happened as of yet, they need some nicer weather for that because they have to do some concrete work.” He also said they’re hoping to work with local vendors to put food and gift shops inside the park. Construction is starting up again and people will start to see a lot more activity in the coming months. “I expect they’ll start constructing the rides, making repairs to the areas that were damaged by vandalism, and when they took the rides out they were not very kind they just kind of ripped and pulled and a lot of things got destroyed by heavy equipment running over paths that weren’t really built for it.” The park will offer season passes, but prices haven’t been released yet.

  5. If the ride couldn't be designed to keep him safe, it should have been designed to keep him OFF. This is such a basic safety concept. Unfortunately we've seen this issue time and time again. Reputable manufacturers have put in the effort to fix mistakes and keep people safe. You can't just put up a sign with a max weight limit and expect employees to stay on top of it. Automated systems need to do the work. Safety is the first priority when it comes to designing rides, it can NOT be an afterthought. Ride engineers need to be extremely careful if they don't want a death on their hands. It doesn't sound like they put in the work to make these towers fool proof. I'm not morbidly obese, I just have empathy.

  6. Because people have become convinced it will be torn down any day now (which is honestly just silly).
