ECZenith Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Hey there, I'm heading down to New Jersey the week of July 17th to hit Six Flags Great Adventure and the parks on the Jersey Shore. Wildwood, Atlantic City, Seaside Heights, etc. I'm obviosuly excited about El Toro but I have no idea what they've added to the Jersey shore parks recently, what's new there?
ParkTrips Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Does Tsunami at Clementon Lake count? I know I am going to hit that wicked-looking woodie when I go up there soon 8) Morey's added a Larson drop tower, AtmosFEAR, last year or the prior year, and those are pretty cool IMO.
Rider117 Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Well I live about 5 minutes from Seaside Heights and was just at the piers tonight. Casino Pier just basically redid the whole pier and got a ton of new flats including Swings, a Disk-O, Enterprise, a dark ride(which is still being built), and a few kiddie rides. Funtown Pier just got a relocated mouse rollercoaster. Down in Ocean City, they recieved a new coaster but I am not sure what it is and if it is open yet. In Wildwood, nothing really new here except Great Nor'eastern got a paint job and there redoing there waterpark on Morey's Pier. If you need anymore info, let me know.
ECZenith Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 Sweet, I've been wanting to try out the Zamperla Disko. If you hear anything on what that new coaster is, please keep me posted. Also, any word on if they're going to add El Toro's second train anytime soon?
Rider117 Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 I heard they been cycling both trains. It should be up and going by next week.
ECZenith Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 That would be a relief if they got the second train going. I'm probably gonna get flashpass anyways to make sure I get a couple rides on Kingda Ka as well.
coasterguy618 Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 You should definatley go to Morey's Piers. This is probably the best Boardwalk Amusement Park in the country IMO. AtmosFEAR, thier drop tower is great and so is thier woodie The Great White. They also have a pay-per-ride S&S screamnig swing. It is 5 bucks. Also, the log flume on the 3rd and final pier is great.
IwantRevenge Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 First thing DO NOT buy a fast pass, big waste of money. They say you don't have to weit in line, but in theroy you do. Here is a example: say the lnie for El Toro is 2 hours and you reserve it, you still have to wait 2 hours to before you can ride it, except you don't have to wait on the lnie. Second No moaater if there running one or two trains on El Toro the lnie will go fast. But my guess is that they'll start running the second soon becuase it's already on the switch track.
Rider117 Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 If you get a Q-bot get the gold one, you will have to wait 5-10 minutes at the max. I agree, you should go down to Wildwood if your going to do any pier. But, it is the farthest away from GADV. Seaside and Point Pleasant-about 30 minutes Atlantic City-1 hour Ocean City-1 hour 15 minutes Wildwood-1 hour 30-45 minutes
YoshiFan Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 The coaster at Gillian's in Ocean City is completed, I think it's open but not 100% sure on that (was at Ocean City memorial day weekend but did not get to Gillian's). Gillian's also added a Wacky Worm last year so even if the new coaster isn't open, you can still get a credit (adults can ride without a kid)
ECZenith Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 What kind of coaster is it? (the one at Gillian's)
ECZenith Posted June 24, 2006 Author Posted June 24, 2006 ^ Woo, another Jersey credit! Thanks for all the tips, I'll let y'all know the exact dates I'll be where if anyone wants to meet up that week. Mmmmm, El Toro...
alpengeist04 Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 ^I'm sure they were told to speed it up with the second train, after Shapiro was there last week.
nitro17 Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Just an FYI, Toro is now running with two trains. No it is not. I was there today and it was still only running one train.
alpengeist04 Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 ^I heard they were running both trains yesterday.
larrygator Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I think the Haunted Manor at Funtown Pier (south pier in Seaside Heights) is a very well done walkthrough that should not be missed.
nitro17 Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 UPDATE: they did infact add the 2nd train this afternoon. Rider117 I take my statement back. This is the second day of 2 train op, I heard they ran 2 yesterday also.
ECZenith Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 Do you about how long the waits were for El Toro now that it has two trains? Good news for me!
Rider117 Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 There was a report yesterday that the line would be originally 2 hours from the first switchback with one train but now with two its only 45 minutes. I will also let you know about Ocean City because I am going there Wednesday night.
ECZenith Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 Woooo, sounds good! One last quick question, are either of the Chiller coasters running? It would be awesome to finally ride that side again. Look forward to TONS of photos of GADV and all of the Jersey shore boardwalks in a couple weeks.
ECZenith Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 K, I've got my final plan of attack for my NJ trip... 7-17: Drive down to Wildwood, NJ 7-18: Atlantic City & Ocean City 7-19: Seaside Heights 7-20: Six Flags Great Adventure, drive home Can someone get me a list of what coasters are on the jersey shore piers? They change like the wind. Also, what's the status of the GADV coasters? IS either side of Chiller up? Is KK back up, and how has El Toro been as far as wait times and downtime? Thanks for any help!
Canobie Fan Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Can someone get me a list of what coasters are on the jersey shore piers? The ones I did last year were... Casino Pier - Just did the coasters Hot Tamale - Did it for the count Wild Mouse - Fun "one of a kind" layout mouse. StarJet - PWNT ANY other NJ coaster I have been on. I loved it. Funtown Pier - Just did the coasters and the wheel. Dragon Wagon - Didnt think I would fit.. Didnt even try and ride. Funtown Family Coaster - Did it for the count Looping Coaster - Was VERY smooth ::O Mighty Mouse - Kick'd ass Jenkinson's Boardwalk - Craphole but has a KMG Spinout Flitzer - Ok for a Flitzer. Tornado - Did it for the count And then I went to Keansburg as well.. But the Wildcat was SBNO and I wasnt let on the kiddie BTW - I did all 4 in the same day + the drive down from Boston. lol
ECZenith Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 Awesome, thanks for the help. So that'll be two spinouts for me with the one at Wildwood that I assume is still there.
