rjholla2003 Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 It should be busy since that's when peopel try to get their last rides in before school starts. No one knows when Chiller will be running again. The best thing to do is to plan for the worst and wish for the best. Expect that it's closes until you see people in it again. We coudl spout out all kinds of facts about how you're 15 times more likely to get injured sitting on a lawn chair or playing golf than riding a roller coaster, but that doesn't really mean anything. Ask yourself this: How many people do you know that have gotten hurt on a roller coaster? How often do you see that kind of story on the news? As someone who isn't into coasters, you probably will be giving a blank stare at the screen, or remembering some urban legend that actually didn't happen.
n00b Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 Thanks for the help guys, one more question. How do roller coasters work? I dont think its with an engine but I'm not sure. Also can a roller coaster get stuck and can an operator stop the roller coaster any time he wants?
apollo210 Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 No for the first one. The coaster relies on gravity to run its course. The second one yes, but its only happened about 5 times. Third one is obiously no.
coastakid Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I just Have something to comment about the Roller Coasters at GADV.. I have been a theme park enthusiast since I was about 5 years old. I am now 12, but I didn't face my true fear of coasters until I was about 9 - 10. Height and speed isn't what bothers most people on roller coaster like Kingda Ka, or Nitro. Its the intimidation of looking at the drop, and hearing the riders screming. I have been on all roller coasters at GADV including Kingda Ka (the 128mph and 456ft tall 1) which is now my favorite coaster. It puzzles me to think of how other people see roller coasters. I see them as pure excitement and fun. Some people (suprisingly) see them as death traps. That is all in their imaginations. Like other members said before, it is about 145,209x safer to be on a roller coaster than in a car. (I did a project on it last year). The only thing that freaks me out sometimes, is on Kingda Ka waiting to launch. When the Horn Goes off, it launches 5 seconds after the horn. So if you decide to face any fears. Just remeber my post on Themeparkreview. Also, Ride it for me! please it is an amazing experience.!

My cousin told me king da ka has fallen back sometimes when attempting to rush its way to the top. I dont know if he's joking or not...
ddaver177 Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 He actually is not joking. Kingda Ka and Top Thrill have fallen backwards numerous times. In fact Kingda Ka got stuck (perfectly balanced) at the top for minutes until someone climbed up and pushed it over. But don't worry a fallback is a great sensation, and perfectly safe. Enjoy.
rjholla2003 Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Kingda Ka didn't do that, Top Thrill Dragster did. Several times.
