It's interesting...apparently sometime this summer, when a minimum of 600,000,000 jump at the same time, it'll drop the global warming rate by a large margin due to Earth leaving its current orbit. It certainly does sound ridiculous, but check out this site nontheless, it's very interesting!

Wow, Global Warming is caused by Earth leaving its orbit? I could have sworn it had somthing to do with our atmosphere...

 

Our moon maybe be drifting away, but all the jumping in the world can't stop that!

This is interesting.. but like, what if it all screws up (if anything happens)? I mean.. what if we drift TOO far out of orbit? We'll be cold, and our crops will die.

World Jump Day's claim is completely unscientific. It is impossible to permanently change the Earth's orbit using the planet's own mass, which includes that of the world's population, unless such mass is ejected from the Earth at great velocity (see Newton's third law of motion). Even suspending some of the known laws of physics, the difference would be negligible: the combined mass of the world's population is too small to cause any significant shift in the planet's orbit; and since Earth's orbit is elliptic, there are already great variations in its distance from the Sun (about 5,000,000 km) with no generally noticeable changes in temperature.

Even if it WOULD work, if all the people around the globe would jump, nothing would happen. Only half of them should...
