So, anyways, this summer my family is planning on heading to Denver for vacation. I really want to hit up SFEG. Usually my vacations are on the last week of June or mid July. So, anyways, Twister II or anybody else that has been to SFEG, mind if you answer these questions?

1. What special events should I be aware of?

2. What order should I hit the coasters?

3. Should I get a Q-bo... err.. FlashPass?

4. Any cool flat rides I should hit up? (Batwing looks interesting)

5. Food in park or not? Also, does SFEG have re-entry handstamps?

6. Is the SkyTower thingy open, or is it closed like SFMM's?

7. (On average) How crowded is the park during the summer? Long waits?

Thanks in advance to those who answer!

this doesn't answer anything but here's a tip

1. Get to SFEG early you'll be bored after a max of 4 hours so then

2. GO TO Lakeside!

Don't miss out on Lakeside it's a gem not to be missed...Actually If someone told me they could only do one of the denver parks i'd say do Lakeside (then Waterworld, then SFEG)

1. Check the official site for special events. The only one that really matters is the Denver Grand Prix (not sure when it is though), not because it attracts more of a crowd, but because it's just cool to watch from SFEG. The track is set up right next door.

2. There's really not much difference in wait times, but Half Pipe usally gets a longer wait. Tower of Doom is really the only other line to worry about. Other than those two, the lines will be fairly similar. Sidewinder, however, is the "do not miss" coaster at SFEG.

3. No. It's not hard to do SFEG in a day, plus not many of the rides will have you dying for rerides.

4. Batwing always struck me as boring, but it's worth a ride if you have time. The flat rides you want to hit are 1) the tea cups which are always fun, 2) if it counts as a flat ride, Tower of Doom, and 3) Rainbow which, although not running a great program, can still be fun.

5. The food isn't great in the park, so if you've got time, hop on the light rail over to Union Station and check out the restaurants either toward downtown or right accross the Platte River. SFEG gives handstamps, but I don't think has an option like that for cars, so you might as well take the light rail (located over a pedestrian bridge, by the Pepsi Center).

6. From my experience, the Sky Tower is open sporadically. The only days it is guaranteed to be open are the days of the Grand Prix. Other than that, there's not much telling if it will be open.

7. It has never been intolerably crowded in the summer when I've been there. The crowd shouldn't prevent you from doing what SFEG has to offer in a day.

Hope that helps. Oh, and if you have some extra time, Lakeside is a very short drive away.

1. What special events should I be aware of?

http://www.sixflags.com/parks/elitchgardens/ShowsAndEvents/index.html#events

2. What order should I hit the coasters?

The ones that get crowed during the day are Mind Eraser and Boomerang. Usually each lasting around 45 minutes each. Personally, I'd go: Halfpipe, Boomerang, Twister II, Mind Eraser, Flying Coaster, then Sidewinder.

3. Should I get a Q-bo... err.. FlashPass?

Well I think you can get these any time threw out the day, but usually, they line is not much longer than the Flash Pass merge point. I'd use it for Mind Eraser and Halfpipe.

4. Any cool flat rides I should hit up? (Batwing looks interesting)

Batwing is nothing more than a swing ride, just higher. Tower of Doom, Intamin Drop. Disaster Canyon, white water rapids ride is amazing. Shake, Rattle, and Roll if its ever open.

5. Food in park or not? Also, does SFEG have re-entry handstamps?

http://www.sixflags.com/parks/elitchgardens/ParkInfo/parkpolicies.html

"FOOD & BEVERAGES

Outside food and beverage are not permitted; however, guests may bring in clear water bottles and sports drinks. Picnic facilities are in the parking lot for your convenience."

http://www.sixflags.com/parks/elitchgardens/ParkInfo/guestservices.html#general_information

"PARK RE-ENTRY

You are free to come and go as you please; however, make sure to get your hand stamped as you exit. You are free to leave the parking lot as well -- just make sure you leave the parking ticket stub on your dashboard."

6. Is the SkyTower thingy open, or is it closed like SFMM's?

That depends. It was open last season, but only on sporadic occasions. It's usually more open on Sunday's than any other day.

7. (On average) How crowded is the park during the summer? Long waits?

It's unpredictable. Waits shouldn't be that bad in the mornings. Most things should be around 20mins max (if even that) on a light day.

Guys. What about the 2+ hour wait on DC once it's mid summer?

Oh yea that ride is down for awhile.

t2 and the Toaster are usally very good in the morning right after opening. Toaster normally starts having issues once it starts heating up.

Far as food goes. There is only 1 or 2 places in the park i'll eat it. Since Papa johns is 6.49 a slice and won't take the upgraded season pass i won't eat that crap. There is a Mex place in the food court that is pretty damn good. The icecream shop @ the end of mainsteet is good also.

(toaster = flying coaster)

For the ones that said EG is boring. I have never gotten bored. it's fun to just sit and watch the people / look / picutre / figure out how a ride works.

Oh yea make sure you don't touch the handrails as you are going up the T2 lift hill. You will be kicked from the park for the season.

Hope this helps.

Alright, I'm going to SFEG in a few weeks. This trip will be titled "Homer gets over his Vekoma and Volare Virginities" or "VaVV" for short.

Sadly, it will be a "sad and pathetic" trip, not keen on meeting other members. I will be by myself though since other members of my family aren't into thrill rides.

Another question comes up though. Is there a way to bypass the parking fee if you are just going to drop off a guest?

And likely, I'll go on a monday or tuesday, is the park definitely going to be dead then so I could credit whore the place and finally get some "rough coaster" credits under me belt?

Dont even go. Visit Water world and lakeside.

Lines usually aren't that bad, you will get bored in 3 hours, sky tower is open this year, the waterpark is good fun, they actually have a decent collection of flats. Don't ride twister on a wheel seat. Yeah, they have the hand stamp thing. I like to eat at panda express, it's right in the food court.

Come Visit us at Lakeside. Lakeside is 100% better then SFEG. This season we have had more peeps in the park then any other season due to SF price hike.

But if you must do SFEG. I would do it on a Tuesday morning. Get there at opening and be done by 2pm. The Toaster (Flying Coaster may or may not be open when the park opens. (I heard it's having issues again.)

I just got back from a Denver trip. SFEG isn't a bad park, but the rides lack.

All rides were working otherwise, Flying Coaster had one shutdown and half pipe is quite painful .. other than that, sans certain employees, it was a nice little park.

The skytower wasn't open and we used a FlashPass (free with SF Corp. ID) to get on the longer wait rides. On Saturday, the waits were up to 2 hours for some rides. Lakeside was great, just a bit ghetto with the crowds and longer waits on Father's Day, but that was expected.

Heritage Square was pretty neat, their Alpine Slide is fun and worth a quick side trip to Golden plus they also got the Coors Brewery and tours with free samples at the end .. always worth a trip
