Chadley Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Hey Robb! Wondered if you and Elissa have ever heard much about the Pleasant View Motel, or if you yourselves have ever stayed there. I can't seem to find out much about it, the lady I talked to there said that the property is old, but is well kept. We want to try and keep this trip somewhat economical since we are also saving back for WDW or DL/DCA next spring. Were planning to go during my works summer shurdown the first week of July. Plus, we would like to get the 4 parks free with our stay that Mt. O offers. Any help you could give me would be great! Thanks! Chad Brown Kettering, OH
MrMorgan Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Hey. Have you ever tried www.tripadvisor.com? It's a great way to find out about hotels all around the world. I always write reviews of the places I've been after I get back from vacation. Check it out. Hope this helps.
benzo41190 Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I have not been there but I have seen it. The place looks nice on the outside and there are always cars there so I am assuming it is nice. Also, if you get a wisconsin dells booklet, you can find info about it.
Chadley Posted April 23, 2006 Author Posted April 23, 2006 Unfortunately the Wis. Dells books they have sent us have been very skimpy on details about the motel. And these are the books for the entire area. One gives all the ads for WD, and the other is the updated '06 price list for all of the attractions/accomadations in WD. The give just the basic info. about the place and it's amenities. No pics! Thanks for you're help Mr. Morgan/Benzo. Anybody who knows about WD, please help out.
benzo41190 Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I have those Wis Dells books from the last like 8 years. I will look threw the books and see if there is anything about it.
JamesMC Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 On my way to a fishing trip 200 miles north of the Dells, I did indeed stay at Pleasant View motel last year. It was OKAY, tho no frills. Your basic Drive-Up-To-Your-Window-Motel. But the rooms were clean (though outdated) had cable, a GOOD air-conditioner, and because I stayed there, the price of Mt. Olympus was included. Nothing bad to say about it, but nothing great either. A Motel-6 w/a good location really. They did have a decent pool, but never got to use it. Friendly people at the motel office though, they were very, very nice and hospitable. If you wanna get a room and Mt. Olympus for about 80 bucks, it's decent enough. The way I figure it is this, if all you are gonna do is sleep n shower, I don't need whistles and bells at the motel I am staying. If you want to spend a lot of time at the motel room itself, you may want to look elsewhere because it's kind of plain. Hope that helps, if not, e-mail me at AlarmingToast@aol.com
307 Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 www.ratethedells.com is a good place to get info on the Dells. Has a good list of restaurants, tons of hotels with pictures and reviews, including staffer reviews. Here's a review of the Pleasant View Motel from there: "Not a bad place if you are 4 young friends because you can go to familyland free. Not good for a family. Room was ok except the carpet was so dirty our feet turned black after you walked on it. Room was never vacummed and we were there 5 days. Water in familyland and pleasant view is ice cold so go on a 90+ decree day or you will freeze." We're going to the Dells later this month, and we're staying at the Black Hawk Motel. www.blackhawkmotel.com The rates are very cheap [$55/$65 for a king room with a fridge, microwave, DVD/CD player, and other stuff], and the reviews I've read are all positive. It's also right off of the main strip, so you can probably walk to many of the attractions or restaurants in the area. Here's the tripadvisor revews for the hotel, and here's the Rate the Dells reviews of it.
Jeezus Juice Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I don't know if you're into camping but whenever we go to the Dells we stay at the KOA that is just behind Timber Falls. Just bring a tent with you, sites are only around $20-$25 and they're shower facilities are really good. We've stayed at several KOA's around the country and this is one of our favorites. Otherwise, depending on the kind of deal you get with Mt. Oly's hotel/motel, that might work out better fore you. How many park admissions do you get for staying there? I can see the value if you've got 4 people, and don't mind filthy carpets! -Don
Chadley Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 Thanks again everybody. We've pretty much decided not to chance it with the PVM. If we go to the Dells we'll either go to Treasurer Island if we want the 4 for 1 price deal, or one of the other more well-kept motels. Once Kelly read the part about feet turning black from the carpet, her face told the whole story.
