Mr.Six
Ok, so I was stuck in Valencia today so I decided to drop by the mountain for a few hours just to check out Tatsu and hopfully get on a ride or two. I didn't even know if the park was going to be open, because it was pouring rain and had been all day. But it was open, and to my great surprise as soon as I get out of the car a park employee is there with an umbrella to escort me through security. Really nice touch! All the workers were very friendly, they had about 5 different characters walking thoughout the park even though there wasn't more than 200 people in the park. Ride operaters were offering re-rides on most of the rides. There were no workers working on Tatsu today; suppose all the rain kept them all home. So although I didn't get to see any actual work, I was able to see the final product and it really does look amazing! Really can't wait to ride it. Well enough of me talking, enjoy my 2 hour Six Flags Magic Mountain Trip Report! I leave you with a picture of a completed and soon to be opened Tatsu! I actually had fun while being at Six Flags Magic Mountain for 2 hours in the pouring rain! Yeah okay, bad idea. Yep, I'm foolishly confident! Yeah, this should be great! 1 idiot + pouring rain + Jet Stream = fun!....er..right? After I froze my ass off on Goliath, I stopped by the Plaza Cafe for some coffee; and it was actually really good. Talking to Julie (USroadtripper) on the cell while queuing for Goliath. Woah! Bad Idea! I saw Goliath was going with a train full of people on it; so I needed to feel the rain in my face at 85 mph! Walking along, something caught my eye. Look were the target is for the saloon girl. My only question is, what does she say when you shoot her in the crotch?!?! So, I decided to ride Batman. Its my favorite coaster in the park, and its even more fun in the rain! Riddler and Batman were the first two coasters that I saw operating. Psyclone Bay was fully closed off today. As you can see, it was really shoulder to shoulder today. Not too much has changed with the station. The rain obviously made it hard for them to get any actual work done on it today. This support needs that new paint really bad! Anywhere you are in the park; its hard not to see Tatsu's pretzel loop! I hope they add some of that "rock themeing" to this support; it just sorta sticks out. The turn that goes over the plaza really does conquer the mountain! Really friendly welcome into the park; but look at that huge line that came right after me! Lucky I was infront of that huge group! The list of rides that were closed that day...yeah a lot! But it was pouring down rain and I don't even think they were expecting anyone at the park today, so its alright.

haiderodes
yay! sfmm in the rain. the park is definately an adventure in the rain. i think everyone should do it at least once! Â Back in November 97 I was there for a spirit competition and it poured from like noon to 5p. Those hills get mighty slippery in some parts! Psyclone never ran better though! Just watch out for water splashing out of those covers on Ninja...very nasty.
trustkill22
That looked like you had great fun! Â I love it when there is no one at a park because it makes you feel so special and very executive . I definately went SFDL on September 24th for my B-Day with friends and it was nippley out and we were really the only ones there and we got basically to do anything open. Nothing better than walk-ons and re-rides of SROS. And another good part is that it was International food festival day and there were restaurant vendors out across the park with bar-b-ques firing up steaks for as much as a damn Icee. Â Sorry to get a bit off topic there but awesome TR. I have been to a park when at 1 point it was below zero but have never been to a park where it had rained for more than 10 mins

Nrthwnd
^ I was going to say that abouit DejaVu! Â Anyway - thanks for the "freshly rinsed tour" of The Mountain, lol. Â Looking at your wet pix, will help me get ready for some (eventual) wet days we'll get up here during Playland's regular season. Â Worth taking a chance for a wet coaster ride, huh? Â Â ~ ~ ~ ~ Â (EDIT: ^^ nippley out???)
arrowfanman
Are you trying to tell me you would pick Batman over Riddler's? Â ...you cut me deep Mike...real deep. Â Â Â It's cool. I went in today for 5 minutes to get my schedule and only about one and a half rows of the parking lot were filled up! Looks like they lost out today! USRoadTripper
What Mike has failed to mention is that while on the phone with me and queueing for Goliath, I was on the other end of the phone in SFoG telling him how badly my Goliath owns his. He didn't want to hear it, and understandably so. Sorry again Mike. Â -Julie
gunslinger
MM in the winter is the only way to go. Not a hint of the GP, no lines, and re-rides galore! Although, my boyfriend and I were at the park yesterday, and around 1 PM, the PA system came on, "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Due to circumstances beyond our control, Six Flags Magic Mountain has ended its operating day. We apologize.. blah blah". The weather wasn't that bad at all, so I guess they close the park if they don't make a quota or a certain number of paying guests...? There couldn't have been more than 50-60 guests in the park, we only ever saw the same five or six groups of people. I don't know.

I was actually somehwat surprised with the park being opened that day and staying open. Even though it was raining all the park managers were out walking around asking me how my day was; I saw 5 charcaters out and about, basically entertaining themselves. Really was good park operations! _six

Do they give some type of refund/coupon for a future visit? I am planning on going to Magic Mountain on the original Tatsu Media Day on April 27th. I am comming from Tampa Bay, FL, so if they closed early it would toatally suck.
gunslinger
I've NEVER seen it happen before, but then again, I've never seen the park that deserted. In the morning it was extremely rainy, so when I went to the park I completely expected it to be closed. I don't think it's a very common thing, it was just circumstantial. You should pray that the weather's on your side when you go, though, just in case. Heh. If they close the park early, they pass out complimentary passes as you exit.
