My Ps2

My goddamn ps2 won't work. I was wondwering if anyone knows how I can fix it. It won't play any discs, says it can;t read it, or the screen just goes blank. It's really pissing me off.

Sounds like its either fried, or uh, well if you get nothing its probably fried, sorry

 

if it acts like its loading, its probably just the drive, and the solution to that is the same

 

 

I lost my Xbox drive a while back, but since its basically a computer, it was SUPER easy and cheap to replace, I have no idea if you can replace the drive in a ps2

Would it be more worth it to get a new one or get a new hard drive?

I don't know how much it would cost to fix it

Trust me, you're best off getting a new PS2 than fixing it. If you want to get it fixed, it will probably cost more than the system itself new.

 

Or, if you are patient, wait until PS3 comes out. *OR* get a Nintendo console, because at least Nintendo puts craftsmanship in their products [/fanboyism].

i'll probobly just get a new one or wait for Ps3. I already have a gamecube and the craftmanship is good. Thanks for the help

Same thing happened to me, I cleaned mine with a tutorial i found, just google "ps2 repair" or "ps2 disc read error". You have to take it apart somewhat It does void the warranty if you do it though

Call Sony, there is a chance they will fix it for free

Get something that blows air really fast, (like a vacum on reverse) and take in your garage and dust out every part of it. This happened to my cousins PS2 and it was fixed for a while. Anyway, if you try it tell me if it works.

^^I've already tried dusting it. It worked a couple of times, but then it froze up. and went back to how it is now not playing anything, and making noises.

Hey Crispy, my drive on my XBOX crapped out on me too. I can't play a thing without getting the disc reading error. What drive did you use to replace it?
