I have spent the last week in Newcastle with my class, and a part of our program was a backstage tour of St.James Park, which is where Newcastle United Football Club plays their home games. The stadium was insane compared to those we have here in Norway, with a capacity of 52000. Im not a fan of Newcastle at all (Go Blackburn Rovers ) but this was definately the highlight of the trip to me as I had never been on any really big stadiums before.

Just to show what kinda stadiums Im used to, heres a picture of Brann stadion in Bergen with a capacity of 17600 (it will be more this season)

One last picture looking up from the sideline. It would have been awesome to see Newcastle-Tottenham while we were there, but it was all sold out a long time ago.

Heres Bob, our tour guide (he was also the chairman's driver and drove a Range Rover with tires that probably costs more than my car). Check out the uber-comfortable seats!

Here you can see the stadium towering over the houses. It could be seen from most places in the city centre.

Nice pictures of a cool, nice looking, big stadium. The white roof structure reminds me of Manchester United's Old Trafford's, which I went to see on a stadium tour last summer.

Anyway, it's a bit shame that you usually don't see a match/game on the same day, so that you could really 'experience' the stadium in its full capacity, (not only empty seats).

By the way, it's the same here in Finland, my nearest club (which has the 3rd largest stadium) in Finland has only 11'000 seats.

On the subject of Old Trafford they are currently extending it yet again and next season it will have 76,000 seats!! Not bad for a club stadium and it's full every game.

Remember that the new Wembley will be 90,000 seats. I can't wait.
