Waterpark101 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I was wondering as you can see in my avatar i love em' but does anyone have a train set/layout that they are proud of? SHOW PICS if possible.
AznShortBoi8021 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I LOVE trains. I have a simple model railroad layout, but I recently lost my camera, so no pics. But my gallery of train photos is availible at http://photos.yahoo.com/xaznxsneakx
Waterpark101 Posted March 26, 2006 Author Posted March 26, 2006 that was very cool where are you at with the pics of the maroon/yellow/silver engines?
AznShortBoi8021 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Maroon!?!? That color was 30 years ago. The MBTA switched to purple years ago. I was in Massachusetts when I took those photos.
Waterpark101 Posted March 26, 2006 Author Posted March 26, 2006 O i realy looked quickly so i didn't get the full detail
V2-dude Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I also like trains, I even own a caboose. I'll post more pics later. Office Car #906250, recently retired from UP work service. It cost $6000, and another $10000 to move it by truck to our 80-acre property.
dandaman Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I think the reason I love roller coasters today, stemmed from my love for anything on rails. I've always loved trains, and still do. Grew up with Thomas, fave book was The Polar Express... have my own dedicated bookshelf for all my stuff.
coasterguy618 Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I was obsessed with Thomas the Tank engine and Lionel trains when until I was 9. Then one day I was the local Zany Brainy, and I accidently picked up a movie of coasters.
DejaVu4Life Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I really used to love them because my grandmother used to live near the Georgia Railroad. I own MS Train Simulator, and still play at occasionally.
FlyingScooter Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I saw the Warther Train carvings last summer on Vacation. Those are fantastic. The details are amazing. I love trains. I could watch them all day long. http://www.warthers.com/
pkdcoaster Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Of course I Love Trains You can't spend half your life on em if you don't love them. I was always obsessed with trains when I was little..I had a really big trainset when I was 10 that took up the whole living room (HO scale) but sadly I never took pics....when I was 7 my love for trains transitioned from trains to coasters. I never watched thomas when I was little but my son LOVES trains he screams CHOO CHOO's when he sees them and when he wants to watch them...every 2 hours . Soon he will ride his first coaster he calls them COO COO's V-2 dude...is anything in your caboose..like a dude room or something? JEFF
viking86 Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I have a trainset with 2 Norwegian locomotives, a few passenger cars and a few cargo cars. I dont have space for it at the moment, but hopefully I'll be able to build some terrain and stuff around it sometime in the future. This is not my locomotive, but it looks excactly the same like one of the two I have. I think it looks awesome http://www.modelltog.com/images/IMG_0818.jpg Heres a picture of the real thing http://www.jernbane.net/script/bilde.asp?img=../norge/el/el16/el162201_2.jpg
WillMontu Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I've got a Eurostar and a Scottish steam train set in storage somewhere. I just don't have anywhere to set them up, and since I bought them overseas, powering them is somewhat difficult too. I have always been into trains, having enjoyed Thomas the Tank Engine since the age of around 3.
V2-dude Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Here are some more pics, and no there is nothing in the caboose. It was converted to an office car after they stopped using cabooses, so the bunks, shelves, and cupola observation deck are gone, the only thing remaining is the stove. It must suck to be the dude in the yellow. The caboose when it first arrived. A look at the interior, those objects on the floor are the couplers and air tanks, which had to be removed, along with the steps, for transportation. they have recently been welded back on.
Waterpark101 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 dude how do you seriously get a hold of one of them cabooses you must be loaded or know someone. As for Viking 86 I would request/think that like in nthe picture of the real one due a winter stile layout because it looks like it just belongs. Will Montu if in the US how did you get the Eurostar to come to you I tryed lookin at one to get but sadly Hornby doesn't ship here o well so now I'm lookin at a TGV Thalys like in my avatar but of course Mehano doesn't have an ONLINE catalog so i went to (and check this out Tee-usa.com or Eurolokshop.com) and bought one HOPING that I can order through that. I'M surprised by the response and the Caboose
Waterpark101 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 O and i have the Spirit of 76' engines with cabooses and an Amtrak metroliner plus a bit of other stuff no layout though atleast not yet if anyone is interested in lookin at the TGV lineup with an ICE 3 for you germans here is a site http://www.mehano.si/?PID=21&CID=41 (*they do great work*) another expensive but very detailed company click on the AVE Renfe to be amazed with bullet train wonders is Electrotren http://electrotren.com/index.asp
V2-dude Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 ^^My dad and I were driving past the UP yard in Oroville, CA, and we saw it in the middle of a work train between two bunk cars and thought it would be a good place to put our layout (modern era, BNSF/UP/Amtrak). At first we joked about buying it, but we went to the yard office and asked anyway. They said the work train wasn't used for a few years, and they didn't need it anymore. At first my dad was kind of nervous about the price, but now he wants one of those open-deck observation cars . It took about two months for the sale to go through, and when it finally did, they moved it to Fresno to make more space in the Oroville yard! When we contacted UP headquarters in Omaha, they told us it wasn't in operable condition. My response to this was:"It's not in operable condition?!? How the f*ck did you guys move it to fFresno if it wasn't in operable condition?!? I threatened to tell a few news stations how the world's largest railroad stole one messed up railcar from a 15 year-old. It was back the next day.
