the sound Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Ok, Since the Commonwealth Games are just 2 games away, i have decided to make a commonwealth games thread, since a live in Melbourne. Wednesday is the opening ceremony, and i should think that it will be an amzing display of fireworks, and 'cultural' dancing. Then, on Thursday, the games will begin. 71 nations will compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, in Athletics, Badminton, Baseketball, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Hockey, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby 7's, Shooting, squash, table tennis, Triathlon, swimming, Diving, Synchronised swimming and weightlifting. In Manchester, Australia topped the medal tally. Lets hope they do it again!

The opening ceremony is on a little bit later on this evening, were the queens Baton will be passed on to the queen (who started it off!) who will read the commonwelth games message (that SHE wrote!). Then, the games will begin!

Today, we will see soem of the Rugby 7's, swimming, Badminton, Mens Gymnastics, table tennis, Lawn balls and a tonne of Other stuff! GO AUSTRALIA!!! Here is the medal tally as of 3:18, Day 3. the sound Posted March 19, 2006 Author Posted March 19, 2006 ^ its an olympic type thing where the british empire (i.e Canada, Australia, SOuth Africa, England, Scotland and 67 other countries/Territories) compete for medals. Basically it is the Olympics, but only with the British empire. YAY For New Zealand BTW our 2 gold medals were in the 200 m Butterfly and the rugby 7's Dam Your Male Swimmers!!
