The Beast's Wheels and SOB track design.

Recommended Posts

Anyone know how many set's of wheels this monster woodie uses within a season..?

Is the track design for it's "Son" or "SOB" wrong, what type of woodie should it of been, e.g. Twister/Out N Back/ Hyper

I think the track should of gone through the middle of the loop and the Ops can time the trains so one is going round the loop while the other one is going through the middle. You could wave at the people upside down.

When I rode "SOB" in 2000, my hands went numb though the vibration, why is it so rough, has it got worse..? Wrong type of wheels..? The lifthill is so loud as well. It looks like the whole building of it was not right.

Kings Island could of asked CCI to build it instead.

Would be of been super smooth.

I love Son of Beast. When i ride roller coasters i like to actually feel them. It is the tallest and fastest woodie so obviously with that comes the roughness factor. It doesn't bother me at all. I have heard that much of the blame is to be focused on the trains. They are poorly designed, from what I have read.

I have no idea how many wheels the Beast goes through in a year. I don't imagine it being much more than any other coaster though.

The trains might suck, but I wouldnt blame it all on that. The two RCCA woodies I rode in Spain a few years ago (Wild Wild West, now Coaster Express and Magnus Colossus) were both running Intamin trains and they were both vibrating and shaking alot.

I highly doubt that. If you look at all of RCCA's designs, you will see that pretty much every hill has a very large radius at the top and usually they dont go very fast over the hills either. SoB doesnt look like an exception to me.
