brooke Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Could someone tell me what's the tallest freefall style ride in the world? i've tried googling it but i kept getting confused with out of date statistics... also im wondering, in your opinion, what is the best (not necessarily the tallest) drop ride.... thanks! and whoever does the editing for the videos on this site...its amazing!! i really hope i can do that stuff one day...i need to get a good program thats easy to use first....
maliboomer Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 The tallest freefall drop ride in the world is The Giant Drop, in Dreamworld, Gold Coast, Australia, which is 390 feet tall. I think the best freefall ride is The Twlight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney-MGM Studios, FL.

the sound Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 wow, ur AUstralian and you did'nt know that it was the tallest. i am however confused about that drop tower in Canada which is 130 meters, as appose to the giant drop, which is 112 meters.

downunder Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 It's nice to have one record holder downunder. It's a nice view from the top of Giant Drop, it's just a shame the loading seems to be very slow. Big Shot at stratoshere is terrifying being a thousand foot up before you even get on the ride.

I think the actual ride portion is only like 250' tall.

Superman Escape up on the hill or High Roller (RIP) at Stratosphere would have the coaster record then. Is the scenic railway a coaster, better see if that is a credit on coaster counter. I wish they would get that Orphan Rocker coaster at Katoomba working. It's been sitting there for yonks now.

I think it is around the same size as Cedar Point's Power Tower. You can even see the tower from the US side of Niagara Falls

Shockwave Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 The Marineland S&S tower is built on top of a hill, so the height is slightly exagerrated. I rate the Fabbri Mega Drops pretty highly, Detonator at Thorpe Park is really underrated!

Its the senic railway at Luna Park in Melbourne. and is the oldest operating rollercoaster in the world.. this beast dates back to 1912.
