DarkStitch626 Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Ok the deal is I am planning a Knotts trip around August, and I need all the info I can get, like for a budget what hotel in property I can stay at, Flying ticket needed from Charlotte to Buena Park. How much tickets for the park are (Minus soak city don't need that). What rides to ride at what time of day to benefit my travel. Any info would be great I'd also need like a local map and stuff (I can get one when I get to the Air port I suppose), Its a 4 day trip. Like what kinda budget am I looking at needing?
SharkTums Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Are you JUST doing knotts? Or will you be heading to Disney, Universal, SFMM, etc.? Airfare will range between $200-350, depending on exact days and when you book. If you want to stay at the official Knotts hotel expect to pay about $100-120/night. If you want to stay at a cheaper place you can get a decent place for $50/night. Tickets, well if you're going for 4 days to knotts by a Cedar Fair Season Pass for $80. Are you renting a car or looking into shuttles?
DarkStitch626 Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 I'm looking into the Shuttles , if they had one from any from the airport to Knotts etc. I was gonna stay on property for the most part so. UNless I like met up with any of the TPR members LOL. I had Talked to Robb about meeting up with you guys, but he said just for me to let you guys know when I was going.
Wes Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Why would you plan your vacation around KNOTT'S???!! wes (I live an hour away and I never go.)
What Now Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I hope you also plan to go to DLR at least. It isn't far from Knott's. The closest airport is John Wayne (SNA). It's about 15 minutes from the Anaheim/Buena Park area. I'm sure there are shuttles betweeen that airport and the hotels down there (there are plenty to choose from).
DarkStitch626 Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 I'm planning Knott's (Possibly disney), and definatly SFMM if I can get some kind of transport. *gives sad puppy dog eye look to the Alveys*
SharkTums Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 ^Sorry, but I wouldn't drive down to Knotts, back to SFMM, back to Knotts, then back home again for ANYONE!!! Not even for my family or hamsters!!!!
DarkStitch626 Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 I can see why being a 4 hour drive... well I have to figure out some way if there is a way to get down to SFMM from Knotts . I guess some kind of bus service would due. Anyway back to the planning.
What Now Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Are you traveling by yourself? There isn't a good way to get from SFMM to Knott's on public transportation. For one thing, they are in two different counties and LA public transit sucks. Orange County Public Transit: http://www.octa.net LA County Transit: http://www.mta.net
DarkStitch626 Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 I might travel alone or get some of my Carowinds friends to come along but ,I do hope to meet up with alot of you Cali peeps when I'm out there.
coasterlover420 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I have noticed that there is absolutely no useful public transportation in LA. Rent a car. I was also wondering if there were any useful discounts I could "accidentally" (cough, cough) stumble upon as well...
DarkStitch626 Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 Well I can book an LAX flight from Charlotte NC, to John Wayne Air port or Orange County, for as low as $363.90 plus tax. round trip, but the issue is I don't know if any flights can get me "Straight" to cali, without stopping in other places which would suck. After this also I need to find if any of the airports have a Shuttle direct to Buena park, so I can get a bus there then only have to have a shuttle or walk to Knotts. Renting a car in NJ you have to be 25... whats with other states with the limits. Hotel rooms in NJ you have to be 21 to rent them also.
DarkStitch626 Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 Yes I know this is a double post but my official trip is August 9th-17th, So if you are in the Cali area and want to meet up just contact me Via, AIM or Yahoo. AIM- Kingdaka1987 Yahoo -StitchGlitchdisney626 (same for yahoo mail) Thanks everyone for your help .
robinschroder Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Actually MTA have a 'Disney Bus' which stops at useful places like, er, Disney, plus Knott's, the Norwalk metrorail station (on the green line - the same one LAX is on) and Downtown LA. It is number 460. http://www.metro.net/riding_metro/bus_overview/images/460.pdf I used this in combination with the MTA metro rail trains, and the metrolink Antelope Valley line that runs from Union Station to Santa Clarita to get from SFMM down to Knott's but it took a long time (like 5 hours!) and wasn't the most fun journey I've ever taken. Plus I only guessed it was time to get off the bus because Supreme Scream was clearly visible! If you have the option to drive, a rental car is a lot less hassle. gisco Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Another option to get to Magic Mountain is a tour company. For $89 they will provide transportation and admission to the park. If you already have tickets they will do it for $45. They usually pick up at the hotels around the resorts like Knott's or Disney. http://www.la-tours.com/sixflags.htm
DarkStitch626 Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 Hmmm never considered that , I'll look into it, I have airfare figured out and my pricings etc. I'm spending 2 days at Disney and DCA, 1 for Knotts, 1 for SFMM, (I arrive in cali 7:00AM August 9th and am Staying to do some exploring through the 17th. so its gonna be a bit split , 8 days is good!. I leave around 8:30'ish on the 17th th during the PM hours for home once agian. . I figure it gives me plenty of time with the parks and if I want to go more then once to either SFMM or Knotts, I'll do it.
