niiicolaaah Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Hi everybody... I am finally back from my week on Long Island and here are some of my pictures. This trip is known by the following names: The Music Majors Invade Manhattan Trip (all the females on the trip are music majors), The Cute Girls Get Free Stuff Trip, and The How-Many-Movies-Can-You-Watch-In-4-Days Trip (we watched about 10). Also, I came SO DARN CLOSE to getting a credit, and I am very bitter lol. Things that did NOT count as a credit that I did on this trip: 1. Riding the Amtrak 2. Riding the LIRR 3. Raising our hands and saying "WHEEE" every time we went over a speed bump (the entire car did this, it was fun!) 4. Riding the NYC subway 5. Seeing a Mr. Six lookalike in Penn Station Anyway, on with the pics! This was the first thing I saw in Manhattan... a K-Mart??!! It totally blew my mind. That night, we went to Dave and Buster's. We did some really cool shots, the Over/Under shots. Two different kinds of shot in one glass. There's my shot. It tasted like Jolly Rancher! Somehow, Ashly ended up with a 5 euro note. We played this cool shuffleboard game, girls vs. guys. The guys kicked our butts. But we tried to cheat by distracting them. Paul's friends thought I thought they were hot because I was taking their picture... yeah right. I was taking a cool action shot. Besides, none of them are dorky enough for my taste. Then we rented a movie! Ashly and Paul proudly display "Beef III"! No, we didn't rent this movie.
Slacking Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 What was the credit you almost got? Yay D&B!!! I LOVE D&B, did you go to the Islandia location? (If you know, lol)
niiicolaaah Posted January 7, 2006 Author Posted January 7, 2006 This is the closest I've ever gotten to Coney Island. Alas. We went to Paul's house for NYE. He has a really cute dog named Rocky. "Where's the booze?" "Oh... here it is!" The next day, we went bowling. My score was 69 and I was so excited! We also went to Cold Stone for some ice cream. I'm pretty sure this is not politically correct. Yeah, it's the tree, big deal.
niiicolaaah Posted January 7, 2006 Author Posted January 7, 2006 P.S. I know I look like a giant in that one picture, I'm only 5'7". Ashly and Beth are midgets. Here are me and Ashly, and Paul's phone, NOT getting a credit on the LIRR. Pretty lights in Manhattan... ...and at Jones Beach. Yes I am a music dork.
Slacking Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Credits are very scarce on Long Island. Only 3 places with credits that I can think of: 1- Coney island, of course 2- Adventureland (sans Fling you into parking lot ride) 3- Sports Plus in StonyBrook. Their "Thriller Coaster" is one of the most ridiculous coasters I have ever been on.
niiicolaaah Posted January 7, 2006 Author Posted January 7, 2006 Tricia came and picked us up a couple days later, and we stayed at her house for the last two days of the trip. Tricia ran over this and dragged it for about half a mile! It made the most hilarious scraping sound ever While at Chili's, we had 3 people, but 47 million coasters. "WTF??" I say to my foamy strawberry dacquiri (I can't spell) Tricia was a ride op at Boomer's back in the day. After reminiscing about crazy things park patrons do, and fun times with fellow ride ops, she took me to her former place of employment. I would have gotten a credit!!!! ::cries:: Stupid Boomer's. I shake my fist at you.
niiicolaaah Posted January 7, 2006 Author Posted January 7, 2006 and then... the best part... I saw Mr. Six waiting for a train in Penn Station!!! Oh yeah.. the free stuff thing... we went wine tasting and the guy gave us free wine
Slacking Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Oooh, I forgot about the credit at Boomers (FKA Bullwinkles) Looks like you had a fun NYE!
Hattuchili Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 "Germanchökolätekäke" WTF, is that? There is nothing German in it, okay the word German, but what the hell is the rest? However, it looks like you had a good time! Thanks for posting! --Sören
AznShortBoi8021 Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 If you sound out Germanchökolätekäke it sounds like German Chocolate Cake. Sounds an attempt to make cheap ice cream sound fancy. That Mr. Six guy at Penn Station reminds me more of Colonel Sanders, but I'm weird. I looks like you had a great time. I hope you had fun. Did you take any Amtrak pictures? Thanks for posting.

niiicolaaah Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 What was the credit you almost got? Yay D&B!!! I LOVE D&B, did you go to the Islandia location? (If you know, lol) I was staying in Ronkonkoma at the time, and if my memory serves me right (which it never does), it was about 15-20 minutes away from where I was in Ronkonkoma.

Life just sucks sometimes. ...although an occasional ride on the Hurricane is quite enjoyable, except for that gut buster turn
Not For Sale Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Anyone here ever been on the Thriller Coaster at Sports Plus? Is it worth my hard earned cash?
Slacking Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Anyone here ever been on the Thriller Coaster at Sports Plus? Is it worth my hard earned cash? Its not worth much except lots of laughter. The Thriller coaster is honestly one of the worst coasters I have ever been on. That being said, ithe coaster itself and the "theming" is so hysterically bad that the ride should almost be classified as "so bad its good." I went on it the summer of 2004, and a friend (the only person who would go on with me, nobody else wanted to take the 3-mile trip to ride it) and I just laughed the whole way through. Is it still 4/5 bucks for a ride? Its pricey for a ride like that, and as a coaster its not very good at all, but its quite an experience, and hey, it is a credit. I think its a coaster that Robb and Elissa would have a field day with.

Yeah, it must have been the Islandia one. I have hung out at that one a little too much the last 3 summers.
niiicolaaah Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 Cool. I had never been to a Dave & Buster's before. I found out the other day that there is one like 15 minutes away from my house. i am so oblivious!
