Token Yankee Guy Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 If you're a resident of Southern New England (Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Mass.) and you're a skiier, then it's pretty much a tradition to go up to vermont for New England style skiing, and that's what I did today. I went up to Stratton Mountain since I haven't been there in years to do some skiing by myself. I had a great time except for the fact that towards the summit it was extremely windy and you couldn't see jack squat. During my time there two interesting events happend to me. 1) I got to visit the ski patrol after I scraped my hand after I cut a turn to quickly and fast that it caused my snowblade to pop off and made me crash and slide. 2) I got to meet a Fox News newscaster while at the lodge during lunch. She works on the Fox News 24hr news network. Now to photos. And finally, a scenic view of the region of Vermont off route VT-9 Nice, I got a trail with my name. Picture of the region taken from one of the lifts This cloud was crazy, I watched it for a while as it was doing a cyclone effect. It was like the center of the Low Pressure was right there. I'm a big fan of Most Difficult (Diamond) and Extreme (Double Diamond) trails. Glade skiing, my favorite This type of weather condition isn't for people who don't like the winter. 20-30mph winds with probably near 0 wind chill. one of the many empty trails, excellent for skiing. Weather conditions at the summit which is 3,875ft above sea level 12 persons in a sardine can Gondola At the base of Stratton Mountain. Notice the low weather system. Pretty much from that point to the summit it was constant wind and you couldn't see much Most highways in Northern New England are like this. Vast nothing. Welcome sign on I-91 for vermont
socalMAN123 Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Nice pics! I've never been skiing before, now I really want too! ---Brent 8)

trustkill22 Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I've been skiing for hmmmmmmmm 7 years so far and I did skiing for 4 years and snowblading for 3 years onto my fourth and I love skiing. Its one of those things that everyone should really try and I recommend skiing then snowboarding for anyone one that has never been. My school usually goes there for the ski trip. Nice Pictures, Hope ya had fun.

There were spots, mostly in the center of the trails where it was icy due to the grooming. So I tried skiing mostly toward the edge of the trails. Then the trails that opened later in the day had snow on them, but the snow was very gritty and golf ball size. So It wasn't crappy snow, it was ok, I can tolerate it snow
ScOtT k Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 oh... I used to ski up in vermont. I moved out to colorado and was amazed by the difference. Not to brag or anything.
Scaparri Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Wow, your testicles are bigger than mine. Skiing and "free fall" are two things that shouldn't go together to me. Of course, I've only been skiing once. It looks like a lot of fun though!
