CoasterJunkie Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 As part of an annual tradition of having no family in FL, my husband, myself, and our couple friends, traditionally alternate our holiday theme park trips. This year, its Christmas, and SeaWorld. We got to the park around noon. Being that everyone else had Family Fun Passes, I have a Platinum pass, so we parked in preferred. Hubby needed to have his pass re-printed as it had been giving him issues and was unreadable so we stopped to get that done, then went through the stupid pointless bag check, and into the park we went. I called my cousin, who works with the characters to find out where she was, but she said that she was eating her free meal, and wouldn’t be out on set at Happy Harbor until around 1pm. So we decided to just start walking around. We checked out the baby dolphins for a bit. Someone walked up to the side and loudly yelled “Why don’t you do something so I can take a picture!” The best part was as she was putting away the camera and walking away, they started to play...LOL!! Dumb ass. We moved on to the Waterfront, peeking into the house that would later house Santa Shamu. We stopped and watched the pearl divers a bit. Wonder if the water is heated? The gentleman diver kept tickling the feet of the female diver. Was kind of odd. People just kept staring at them. We moved on to the sharks. It was starting to get a bit more crowded at this point. Up until now, the park was filled with mostly Asian tourists. Hubby kept commenting on how he wanted to toss a few people to the sharks. LOL. Don’t think we can do that. There was a log jam as always at the conveyor. I don’t like the new setup. I miss the old tank where you could just come in and watch the sharks. Oh well. From there, we went over to my favorite place, the Clydesdale Hamlet. There is a sign that says don’t pet the horses, but I did anyway, and they liked it. One kept putting his head down for me to scratch behind his ears. He was such a sweetie. Then of course oats came out, and that was the end of that. We moved on to beer tasting. Now I am a beer hater. Always have been. The gentleman at the counter had no one around so he let me sample everything, telling me what I would and wouldn’t like, based on what I was telling him. He was dead on. He told me that the beer for me was Michelob Ultra. He was right. I like it. So I got a glass and managed to get a buzz, as I don’t normally drink, and I also had an empty stomach as I was holding out for our big dinner later at Cape May Café at Beach Club. There was big news that one of the whales had given birth Thanksgiving to a new whale, and momma had finally moved him out of the show tank into the underwater viewing tank, so we wanted to go see him. Sadly though, he wasn’t there. According to my cousin, mama tends to “hide” him in other tanks a lot. They think she doesn’t like the crowds to much. Since it was 1:30, we wandered over to Happy Harbor to see my cousin. She said she would be out in a few; she was finishing up getting Arthur dressed. We hung out with her and Arthur for a bit, and then O.P. stopped out too. She told us she didn’t have to go out in the morning as it had rained for the first few sets. Arthur seemed VERY pleased by this also. Arthur and I did a little jig for a bit, and then we bid farewell to them. Was a shame, hardly no kids whatsoever. So I kept the furries occupied. Wild Artic had a nasty line as the Shamu show had just let out, so we walked over toward Kraken. Stopped in and looked at the penguins. We discussed a bit the London penguin story and how people are stupid. We headed to Kraken, which was posted as a 25min wait. We waited 10, if even that. 2nd to last row. Coasters for Christmas, does it get any better? As we continued out trek around the park, we watched alligators do nothing. Once again, we talked about tossing in a few tourists, which the crowds were beginning to build. On to Key West, another favorite hang out spot of mine. I wanted some good pictures, and I got them. The dolphins were VERY playful. Saw many people get wet, and some people had there fish stolen by the dolphins. We spent a good half hour here. One of the dolphins kept coming up to pose for me. He knew I didn’t have fish, but allowed me to touch him after I took his picture anyway. Such beautiful, intelligent creatures. We washed up, and headed to the front of the park. We still had some time to kill, so we headed back to the Wild Artic. The line had subsided. I hate the movie they make you watch, so I skipped it and walked out the door. When I turned around, I noticed about 8 other people had also. Sea World take note, not everyone wanted to watch the movie. Give people the option to skip it! The seals, polar bear and walrus’s were all very active so we watched them for a bit. Another overheard comment about the polar bear: “He looks like he is having a great time going in circles over and over in such and unnatural habitat. And I paid $65 dollars to come see him in his misery and support it.” This comment really ticked me of. I wanted to deck the jackass. If he was so against it, WHY COME!! Whatever. We finished up from there, and it was starting to get over crowded and we were getting hungry. So we headed out. On the way out, we stopped in and said Hi to Santa Shamu, who had no line. He came up to the window of his little hut and was waving at us and just enjoying himself. We said goodbye to him, and we left the park. Next stop for us was The Beach Club and Cape May Café for Christmas Dinner. Here are some pics I took of the day: The Giant Tree. And I managed to get it without and crap load of people in front of it! Dragon Fish. Never saw these before. Wonder if they are new, or just went by to quick to see them. PLEASE….Can I feed the tourist…..PLEASE… Look Arthur…He was pretty bored. Don’t think he wanted to work on Christmas, but he was fun to hang with. Our Gang. Don’t we look so happy O.P. was here too. Hubby is miserable for some reason. QUICK!! 2 Escaped Whales!!! Call someone to come get them back to the tanks! There were a lot of them to be seen, in both the adult and child size variety. YAY! Penguins. And now I know I cant steal one as it wont survive. They are so cute though. I can see why someone would think they could take one…but where would you keep it? Deep freezer? :? I think he thought it was a fish at first! Come here kid, I am going to bite your tourist hand off! WARNING: Be sure to not have your lanyard dangling over the pool as the dolphin will grab it and pull you into the water by it. WTF?? Yes this was told to me by the guy in the boat. Don’t you want me to pull you into the pool by your lanyard? It will be fun! Me and Santa Shamu chillin out in his hut. There was no one around for this. The Shamu was also VERY soft. Maybe I could do a trade for the hubby…LOL. The tree again…with the lighthouse. Merry Christmas from Seaworld TPR.
Reon Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 In those pics with Arthur..were those steel drums I saw? If so, Here I come Sea World!
CoasterJunkie Posted December 27, 2005 Author Posted December 27, 2005 Yes the steel drums are currently in Happy Harbor... Not sure for how long though..as they are currently doing work in Happy Harbor for the new rides
Reon Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Well, whenever they sell em, just call me >.> Oh yeah, great TR I guess...
CoasterFanatic Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Did you try anything at the counter where they mix Mich. Ultra with all those kooky flavors. What a truly horrible idea.
PhishyBrewer Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Did you try anything at the counter where they mix Mich. Ultra with all those kooky flavors. What a truly horrible idea. Yes it is. They've been doing that in our Tour Center. Just awful!
Slacking Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Is that those Fusion things, whatever they call them? I've tried a couple at BGT, they're pretty bad.
SonOfBeastSucks Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Come here kid, I am going to bite your tourist hand off! Nice pictures.
CoasterJunkie Posted December 28, 2005 Author Posted December 28, 2005 Is that those Fusion things, whatever they call them? I've tried a couple at BGT, they're pretty bad. Those Fusion drinks were horrid! SW decided to close down the back bar to expand Beer School, so now you can no longer get Bacardi's or any of the other speciality drinks they had. Really sucks if you ask me.
disneygurlz2s Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 What a pretty tree.... I don't know that I have ever seen pics of SW at Christmas. Santa Shamu is soooo cute! Shari
