pgathriller Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 I was thinking for once. I have been on a Chance Inverter and a Huss Top Spin and the 2 rides feel the same. I just realized that if you have the two rides facing the same way they do the same ride motion. Does anybody else think they give the same ride or do you think different. I am only talking about the standard Top Spin, not the other models that Huss is making now.
DenDen Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 No, the inverter is a controled inversion that flips exactly 1 rotation opposing the arm's rotation. Topspins are gravity and brake controlled.
ECZenith Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 I definately notice the difference. The Chance Inverter just feels "cheap" to me. I don't find the motion to be fun at all. Then you have the Huss Top Spin that has several programs and way more variation in movement.
Canobie Fan Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 I love inverters the way it does the "blackflip" is just a cool feeing and I ride SFNEs everytime I go... When its open. And I really dont see why everyone hates the OTSRs/lapbars.... Topspins are cool but I can never find a good run one.. SFNE runs a crappy prog... SFDLs is OK so is Gadvs I guess... Dorneys was a joke.. But this year was semi-good... As ffor the 2 rides being the "same"... Not at all...
pvcoasterguy Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 I love Six Flags Great America's top spin- it has a pretty good program. You do six flips in a row, very fast, which is pretty crazy. One of the best flat rides I've ever been on.
socalMAN123 Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 Chance Inverter- It just plain hurts. I don't like it at all. The programs aren't that exciting. Huss Top Spins- A lot more comfortable and enjoyable. Also, the programs are usually more intense. ---Brent 8)
ECZenith Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 New York State Fair has a well-run Huss Top Spin (Strates Shows)
Guest Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 The Top Spin at Kennywood has been running a sweet program during the summer. Between 5-6 flips with a lot of that hang time that everyone loves. I just don't like the water effects!

But this year was semi-good... I don't know if Cedar Fair has broken the one at Geague Lake or not. But when I was there when it was SFWoA their top spin was running in insane mode. It'd run all 3 programs back to back, one of them even produced well over 10 flips in a row if the ride was full of people. Best run top spin I've ever been on hands down. Dorneys was pathetic. It didn't flip once.

That's strange because, according to a source, I heard that particular Top Spin was built many years ago and sat at the Huss plant until SFGAM bought it. Someone put a down payment down for the Top Spin, but never paid the rest, so it sat at the Huss plant for ages, until SFGAM came along. Before it came to SFGAM is was sitting outside pink and rusty. From what I've heard, the SFGAM Top Spin can physically only do 4 flips, due to some mechanical problems. So, if you got 6 flips, consider yourself lucky (in more ways that one )
