I just saw this movie and OMG. It was, well not amazing, but pretty good to say the least. It was soo cool and had a lot of turning points. It was a really good, edge-of-your-seat movie, and...stuf...like...that. Anyway, post your comments and stuff. Signing off! (not literally)

Well, it's nice to hear that it's a good movie. As for the concept itself, its funny, I remember there being a movie A LOT like it in the mid 90's.

At least they had the decency to mention in the trailors that it's from the same person who wrote Jumanji.

In one review I read, it said Zathura was supposed to be a "prequel" to Jumanji. I think a different review said that the kids pushed aside some jungle game in favor of the outer space one.

So, to those who have seen Zathura, did the Jumanji game make a cameo appearance?

Yes, yes it does. I like the film for the fact it had such a classic 50's tin toy, sci-fi feel to it. Not alot of CG like jumanji, more real special FX so it feels alot more believable and real.

I saw no actual reference to "Jumanji", but it's possible I missed it. It's a good movie, though I thought the script need some more work. Some of the side stories/plots were dangling open and often held little meaning for the rest the movie. The beginning with Tim Robins is the most notible. A lot of emotion and care with into that section, only to have it cast as side once the boys start playing the game, and it never comes back to it. And what happened to the game once they finished playing? That question never got answered. Scriptwise, "Jumanji" is better. Special effects-wise, "Zathura" is better. I loved how that house gets demolished throughout the movie. And I liked how little of the Zorgons you see--that made them a lot more creepy.
