Is Kings Island and/or Kentucky Kingdom worth the trip?

Hi. It's been years since I've been on these forums, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but whatever. It's been almost 4 years since I last rode a coaster and I've gotten the itch to ride one again recently. I live in Northern NJ so Nickelodeon Universe is the easy choice for new credits, but I want to go a bit bigger this summer. I'm thinking of a trip that consists of Cedar Point and Kings Island. Kennywood might make an appearance as well. I've been to CP but that was a long time ago. Disaster Transport was still standing last time I was there. I just want to know if it's worth it, or am I wasting my money to ride an (maybe) overhyped RMC and a B&M Giga.

I don't think anyone will ever tell you that going to CP or KI is a waste of time/money. The only issue I see for you is that if you haven't been to parks lately this may not be the time to come back.  With all of the Covid precautions/restrictions it's not a normal experience at all and you could end up frustrated.   Maybe wait and see how the parks are operating this season first?

I'm sorta considering attempting Coastershock this year - tho the cost of getting from Cincy airport to KI is giving me stickershock at the moment.

what's the best way to get to the park, if not renting a car?  (or is renting a car the way to go, even tho it would be sitting in the hotel parking lot for 3 days)?

Go for it. It's CP...how can you not think it's worth it? And if by "(possibly) overhyped RMC" you mean S V  first, to my surprise it meets the hype. Second, even if it doesn't...it's Cedar Point lol It's always worth it.

KI is a great park. Again why worry so much about one ride? It's a wonderful park, I actually feared it would be overhyped but I really enjoyed it. Can't let big parks be possibly thought out of because of 2 specific rides. Edit: Bill is right, if you're going summer though, fastpass required.

I mean I just used rental car. I go for the most affordable/basic kind and its not far at all from the airport to KI so it wasn't too bad. Guess it depends on your overall plan though. If it wont move for 3 days that is a lot of wasted cost.
Full disclosure: I know nada of the area so other means of transport you gotta research. Or uber/lyft? IDK but again Ive never used it for something like 40 miles apart.

^^This is America, rent a car.  Our public transportation system isn't quite up to the task!  If you want a break during the day, want to go try a nearby restaurant, do things on your own schedule you'll want a car.

Yeah.....public transport is not our forte lol Also good point, the car does allow some freedom to do other things if so inclined. I always try to do local things and not just the park so I always appreciate the freedom to move easily! Especially for Cincy! It was a low key pretty cool city.

Rented a car.

in MY case. . .since going for Coasterstock - really wont' be doing anything in Cincinnati other than driving thru it to get to Kings Island 😛

tho the car will allow me to stop on the way there from Airport on Thursday to grab something local for dinner. . so that's a plus.
