dubaidave
OK, here's the story. Sharjah is the next Emirate to Dubai. Its only about 30m KMs away but can take up to 2 hours depending on the traffic. Sharjah is much more Islamic than Dubai, you cant drink alcohol there and they have decency laws which mean you have to wear long trousers and sleeves and men and women can not be alone together unless they are family. However Sharjah is home to some great malls and FEC`s with a few coasters as well. I will cover these in a later update. Anyway needed to go to Sharjah to order a bed that was out of stock in Dubai. So I left Dubai earlier in search of the newly opened Qabat Al Qasba. The Qanat Al Qasba is a newly opened entertainment area that host a circus, lots of restaurants and the Eye Of The Emirates, a Big Wheel similar to the London eye. According to the website the Eye Of The Emirates is a 60-meter-high observatory wheel that is tallest of its kind in the Middle East, Africa, and West & Central Asia. I had to see this. I knew it would be closed because it is the month of Ramadan and I was going during the day. Anyway take a look at the pics to see what I found. But not a patch on the London Eye. I would say it is a quite nice Ferris Wheel But up close it is a Lot smaller than the London Eye It looks quite big in this photo Here was my first glimpse of the Eye. And what a lovely place Sharjah is, NOT! Leaving Dubai at 8.30 AM meant I was in sharjah in 20 Mins. This is Not the Eye of the Emirates. This s in our local park. Nrthwnd
This a great set of TRs you are giving us. It's a look into theme parks, waterparks and attractions we in North America (especially) don't see much of, publically. The Eye looks amazing. Sorry that the view isn't too good for you. Keep up the great photo work.

nannerdw
I don't think I've ever seen a pic. of a rotoshake (just a Lego model ). It looks like a standup ride  . That would be awesome! It also looks like a great addition to the George Foreman Grill Ride collection.

SharkTums
Is it the off season in Dubai? Is there an off season? Why are all of the parks always closed?!!?
dubaidave
Because its Ramadan this month, nothing opens till after sunset. You are not able to eat or drink in the street during Ramadan so everyone just stays home. After sunset they all go mad and party all night.
