I researched heavily on each ride & attractions (I've added) real-world counterpart. To ensure it's financially feasible & a trendy ride during the time period. The winds of change are upon Valley Hills. But how hard will they blow..?
JonnyRCT3 Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 Saturday, May 5, 1984 John Kline  Today is the second operating day of the 1984 season, and crowds are abnormally heavy. We here at Valley Hills are entering year two of the redevelopment plan, and so far things have been going good. Last year, we finally saw a break in the attendance drop. Thanks to the new additions & increased advertising, attendance went up 20% and was one of Valley Hills busiest seasons on record. This year, the midway has been further extended, new attractions are to be found! Lets take a look...   The midway has been expanded even further, now offering two addition attractions for families to enjoy. Buccaneer & Wild Waters, new for 1984!   Buccaneer, a Huss manufactured swinging ship.   Buccaneer is a truly massive ship. The ride and it's Que are nestled within Wild Waters proximity.   Lots of happy riders to be found, another solid family attraction for Valley Hills. (I was granted special permission to bring a camera aboard.)   Another shot of Buccaneer, taken at the rides exit. This thing is HUGE.   Buccaneer's exiting bridge crosses over Wild Water's final splashdown. You can get some great views up here, don't stay to long or you're in for a wet surprise.   Another Log full of wet riders.   Wild Waters! The entrance to the longest log flume on the east coast!   For those who don't know: Wild Waters WILL get you wet, so it's recommended you purchase a [$1] locker to store your important items.   Wild Waters has a lengthy, secluded Que.   Being Park Operations Manager, I was granted front of the line access. Bypassing an hour Que.   A new trail now connects Allegheny Hall with the new midway. A great scenic route for those who are fans of nature. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a make-out zone...   Allegheny Hall's picnic area provides some magnificent (once secluded) views of Kanawha Railway's second lift.   Yesterday, we saw record crowds for opening day. Third larges opening day crowd on record. This is all great news for Valley Hills!   Towering Inferno is still one of the most popular rides at the park. (someones about to get wet back there...)   Towering Inferno's maintenance stairway can provide some otherwise unattainable views.   W.V. Turnpike is still popular among the families. A staple attraction here at Valley Hills.   The foliage around Dodge 'Em has grown some. The ride is becoming decorated beautifully by the vegetation. Great foresight gardening department!   Rotor has finally re-opened. For good! All the major malfunctioning parts have been completely replaced due to maintenance being unable to find the specific problem related to it's downtime. Costly, yes. However, the ride has yet to have any hiccup. Hopefully this one will stay open for more than a few weeks at a time.   Valley Hills is heading into a brighter tomorrow. 1984 needs to continue a green profit trend & attendance in order for Valley Hills to survive. For that ride and the mine train, I suggest DasMatze's wood support replacer, and it will make you rides look much nicer! I also like the placement of just about everything in your park, it all fits together very well!

That's what I was aiming for: a good mix of coasters & flats. I wanted the park to offer something for everyone, and I think it does that quite well. Which is especially need now. I also like the placement of just about everything in your park, it all fits together very well! Â I tried to be original & realistic with the layout. The current supports are staying though, sorry, I don't want to make this park super laggy to build in. I designed Valley Hills to offer a variety of attractions, giving guest plenty of options to choose from.

The park may or may not go through a drastic change. Take that for what it's worth. Either way, something twisty is coming. Â Update soon!

Â I've been hearin' all about this Valley Hills', it's been the talk of the town for quite some time now. West Virginia has a premier amusement park on their hands. My family and I always visit Kings Island, but we decided to make a change of pace this summer and visit Valley Hills. Apparently it's been around for 13 years, and I'm just now hearing about it. They must be advertising heavily. Â Â Right as you enter the park you'll notice the park's icon, Parachute Tower. Â Â Valley Hills' certainly doesn't disappoint, they even added a new ride for 1985. Sun Spin. Â Â If I'm not mistaken, this is the relatively new Huss Ranger. This is the first time I've seen it in person. Looks intriguing. Â Â Kanawha Railway is the park's first & longest coaster. I've overheard some guest raving about it. My experience was above average, but I don't think it's as good as The Beast. The ride is over-hyped if you ask me. I was able to get this photograph of Sun Spin in the station though. Just before those pesky ride ops. snatched my camera away. Â Â Music Box pleasantly surprised me. It's marketed as a family attraction, but has a hint of intensity to it. The guys across from me almost vomited, twice, during my ride (no pesky ride ops. noticed my camera ) Â Â You could hear a loud applause coming from Bluegrass Theater. I'll be sure to check this out some other time. Â Â Buccaneer was another pleasant surpise of my visit. Great placement of the queue. Â Â The ride was more than I expected. With a lengthy ride cycle, that 25 minute wait was worth it! Not a fan of water rides, so I skipped Wild Waters. Even though It did look better than your average flume. Â Â With nothing else to keep my interest, I headed towards the other side of the park. Â Â Valley Hills has an awesome pizzeria. Cobblestone Cafe offers a tranquil picnic area to, nice touch. Â Â I took a spin on Trout Spin (pun intended), an enjoyable experience. Â Â Another spinning ride, across from Trout Spin, Rotor. The ride was "meh", just a simpler version of Trout Spin. Â Â Being the hungry man that I am, Kid Town Market was my next stop. The menu here was kid oriented, as expected, but I still bought a large soda. (I noticed they were the cheapest here.) Â Â Valley Hill's star coaster, RattleSnake. I was quite impressed with this one, had a good mix of elements. That loop was intense, even better than Lightning Loops! This park is getting better every time I read about it. It's going to get even better. Very soon. Â This is an excellent park, Cobblestone Cafe is one of the better dining areas in this forum! Oh, thank you. That actually means a lot. I had multiple different concepts for the Cobblestone Cafe dining area. The first one I built looked drastically different, I'm glad I chose to redo it.

I'll try to get another update in by the weekend.  Enjoy! ______________________________________________  Saturday, September 20, 1986 Kevin Doss  So today was the final operating day of the 1986 season here at Valley Hills. The park seemingly did well this season, even though their three year "building spree" is over. Valley Hills still doesn't disappoint, they are very thorough with these new additions. Monster, a family oriented attraction, was added this year in the former Wild Waters entrance area. The midway was furthered, and Wild Waters entrance was relocated accordingly.   Monster, new for 1986!   Monster is a the perfect ride for the kiddies & families. A step up from the Scrambler ride.   This is new. Looks like Valley Hills is already planning the next one!   From Wild Waters queue line I spotted something rather interesting. Whatever it is, this new attraction is MASSIVE!   Before I left, I spotted construction equipment in the parking lot. Could this be related to the cleared land next to Wild Waters?   Kevin Doss

The attraction will let riders experience all the thrills and chills of a roller coaster, all while STANDING! The relatively new stand up concept has people all around the world buzzing, and we here at Valley Hills are proud to introduce such a world class attraction.  Facts at Glance Stand Up design Over 2000 feet long Three Inversions (WORLD RECORD!)* Orange track with black support structure $4,500,000 USD investment Manufactured by INTAMIN of Switzerland Opening May 1987  No name has been decided upon yet. Additional details will be available as soon as I have the go-ahead by upper management. *for stand up roller coasters   The construction site has been busy these past few weeks. Due to an unusual warm & rainy fall season, the site has been a real hassle to work with. The project is already 3 weeks behind schedule.   The lift hill & drop have been put into place. Including a massive vertical loop, and the unique "inclined loop" a first of it's kind.   This track section was a difficult lift. The winds were on-off all day.   This roller coaster is visible from almost anywhere in the park. Another great addition to the Valley's skyline.   PROPOSAL 1:098-7 has been a huge success for Valley Hills, and this new attraction is another indication of our commitment to providing world class thrills. I would have never imagined ten years ago that my home park would receive something so revolutionary. Management has been very fond of INTAMIN, this is our third purchase from them. GLADIATOR, the new Stand Up roller coaster, made it's debut this season as well. Gladiator has greatly contributed to the 19% attendance increase, compared to this time last year. Gladiator is one of the largest Stand Up coasters in existence, and packs a huge punch for such a small footprint. This has been Valley Hills largest single capital investment to date. We here at Valley Hills are happy with yet another purchase from INTAMIN.   GLADIATOR, new for '87!   The one of a kind "Inclined loop" will take riders through an intense G Force spin.   Gladiator features multiple track crossovers, with one right through the loop.   The finale of Gladiator features a 360° corkscrew spin, followed by a 180° carousel turn.   For all the maintenance bay enthusiasts.   A unique view of Gladiator's layout.   Gladiator is surrounded by Rome-styled buildings to support the coasters name.   A look down the expanded midway.   Vortex, also new for 1987. (Vortex replaces the old Rotor, previously located by Kid Town. Unfortunately, Rotor has been causing the park problems since day one. This newer and more reliable version was the ideal replacement for the popular attraction.)   The old Rotor site has been cleared. It is now prime real estate for a possible Kid Town expansion.   Gladiator has become wildly popular in such a short time. With the increased attendance & increased ticket prices , Gladiator is paying for itself already.   Gladiator may be the new hotness at the park. But RattleSnake has yet to see a drop in ridership. Guests enjoy both just as much, although Gladiator has the longer lines.   Until next time....
