^^^According to the quote-unquote "official" definition of what a hypercoaster is from Intamin, it can either be 200 feet tall or more OR have a drop of 200 feet or more. Apollo's Chariot has a drop of more than 200 feet, so it qualifies as a hypercoaster.

I would also like to take this moment to put in my two cents on this "accepted" definition of a hypercoaster. I feel that it is much more accurate to label a roller coaster as a hypercoaster based on SPEED rather than height, since a roller coaster's height can be very misleading especially if it's on uneven terrain, and a nice round number like 100 kph or more (62.14 mph) seems appropriate. With this rule, all of the roller coasters already labeled as hypercoasters would still be labeled hypercoasters along with the seven rides in this topic's poll and every gigacoaster.

^^^I figured if I did not specify a specific minimum speed for the rides in the poll and included all hypercoaster-style rides regardless of speed, the Intamin Mega-Lites would get like 90% of the votes.

As they probably should...

Sorry, I just love Mega Lites.

I think that mega-lites would probably be the favorite hypercoaster style ride under 200 ft., so no reason to keep them out if you want accurate results.

Then what is the point of the poll? You already know the answer.

+1

I definitely agree. One of the good things about learning Chinese in China for three years is that Happy Valley Shanghai's mega-lite is only 30 minutes away. I can go there every Friday if I wanted to! Jealous???

I guess the point of the poll is to find the most popular hypercoaster-style ride below 200 feet BESIDES the Intamin Mega-Lites.
