Nrthwnd
And here's the other video I took on Day 3of our Tokyo Disney Resort visit. In Disney Sea at night. Jasmine's Flying Carpets is certainly nothing exciting or innovative when it comes to a Dumbo-like attraction. But the setting was wonderful, and there eve a viewing balcony, in back of the ride, for overhead shots and videos. Like this video. Dark, and LOT of Blue, but still pretty to watch in operation. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=MVI_2875_ua3b[/coastertube] Just a reminder - at the back is where the video was taken from. Nrthwnd
Final Day (4) at TDLR ... Star Tours at TDL This last day at the resort, and the tour for us, David and I decided to meet up later on in the day, at our "usual spot", that being near the gift shop in Mysterious Island at TDS. So I took off in the early morning, to finally experience what the Star Tours 2 attraction is all about. It was down for maintenance, last TPR visit, so I knew i wanted to get at least one ride in, on this visit... It's quite the setup at Tokyo Disneyland. A massive show building with lots to see and pass by, before you finally reach your transport to...? I forgot where we were going, lol. It was a good exciting ride, but honestly, there are a couple of things I really really missed from the old ride... Pee Wee Herman's voice as our guide. The ice caverns we rocketed into and through. So, I did a ride on it, it was alright, and I don't need a re-ride again. Even with changing scenarios, etc etc. My breakfast, for the morning. View from our hotel - of that other hotel. Mono, mono -a- mono mono... TDL Passport Price Board. The Jeff Johnson Special. This is where I was heading. Lots of nice themeing around me. And this is The Crowd below all The Themeing. But it was an easy walk-in, when I arrived there. We're riding one of these, still. Good old transport vehicles. Like I said, I sort of forgot where we were heading on this voyage. Big display screen over the entrance into the bldg., showing us where our next Space Vacation could be taken. So many planets to choose from! (o; We see one being worked on, from a previous trip. Yep, they're still together. C-3PO as shiny as ever. They're so cute! One of the Worker Droids. Getting closer to the boarding docks. We're here! Ready to board and get to wherever we're going, lol! After the ride - the exit path guides you into an overpass. And I got to see how the crowd going in, was now MUCH BIGGER than when I first arrived. It pays to get up early, for a Disney park. Nrthwnd
Day 4 at TDLR... Hopping from TDL to TDS. So after Star Tours 2 was ridden, I took a look at the Standby Queue time for Monsters Hide and Go Seek (2 hours?!!), and decided that was enough and headed over to Disney Sea. Toured around the park, took in some quiet spots I hadn't seen before, like around the lighthouse overseeing the Cape Cod area of American Waterfront, and a walk through of Mermaid Lagoon, checking out the Calypso Kitchen for a possible lunch break, with David. And on through the late morning, before meeting up with David in the afternoon... So after leaving Star Tours 2, I took a shot of the crowds queueing for the Monster's Inc. ride. Eek. Eek indeed. And this was just after 0930 in the morning! I didn't bother hanging around for a re-ride. Next visit. A last look at the castle before leaving the park. Note to theme park CD buyers! This was The Place in TDL, to find practically every CD available, in BOTH parks! The monorail from TDL, to TDS goes around this upper corner of the park, which is basically being used for growing trees and shrubbery. But - it's a big space, eventually getting something put there. Hope I'm around when it happens, heh heh. Here's how that spot looks like, from the inside of the park, between Port Discovery and the Lost River Delta. I think is is going on my Bucket List: Going on whatever they eventually plan for this area. (o: Here's hoping... So, back inside where I am happy the most. One of these future visits, I would like to just tour around the ship. Looks so natural. Cape Cod with an active volcano behind it, LOL! One of the Transit Steamer Line boats, chugging past the lighthouse in Cape Cod. BFF - if you can see them in that colourful Kimono Mash-up, heh. Looking over to the Arabian Coast, in the park. Really amazing that Tokyo Disneyland sits (literally) right behind this section of TDS And here's my walk though Mermaid Lagoon, with the spinning Kelp Cups in front. The Jumpin' Jellyfish ride. Yeah, I rode the Jumpin'Jellyfish. Got a couple of overhead (ha) shots. Just love all the lighting and themeing of this 'land'. Nothing like it. And of course, souvenir browsing/buying in the Sleepy Whale Shoppe. Edited September 19, 2013 by Nrthwnd
rctneil
Really enjoyed reading your reports of the last few days at TDR. It's such an amazing place and DisneySea is just spectacular. Next time definitely explore the Columbia. We went on and there is T Roosevelt's Lounge and looking off the ship from the decks is really cool. It's nice to see all the little details around the parks that you saw and shared with us all. Thanks again Bill
Nrthwnd
^ Thanks Neil, you're welcome! After strolling through Mermaid Lagoon, I took a ride on the Transit Steamer boat, full circle ride from the dock in Cape Cod, and took a few "from the water" shots during the trip. I then took myself to Pier 33 for a breather and a beverage concoction most interesting,.."The Orange Cocktail". Basically it was just beer and an orange flavouring, but for myself, very quenching during the start of the afternoon there. After the cocktail break, I met up with David for the rest of our day there. Aquatopia Shot #1 Aquatopia Shot #2 Another look at the Cape Cod area of the park. Mickey and me seem to disagree, as to who should be at the steering wheel. The Mouse won, of course. On the Steamer boat, there was this Really Into It Duffy Fan. He spent a lot of time, during the sailing, posing and snapping pic after pic of the lovely....uh.... couple. The dock crew member seems amused by it. Here's a few shots, taken from the Transit Steamer boat. Mermaid Lagoon. The Nautilus, docked in Mysterious Island (Vulcania). Heading out into Mediterranean Harbour. Magellan's Fortress. A photo taken from one of the uncrowded spots in the park And just in front there, with ToT in back... Pier 33! A favourite number of mine, doubled! The beer drinks board at Barnacle Bill's. I noticed this special cocktail was only available during the park's Summer Festival celebrations, just starting up while we were there. And THIS is what the Beer Cocktail (Orange) looks like. Tasted okay. Nothing overdone to make me gag and spit it out, LOL! Mt.Prometheus, looking it's best. Then we were back at our dock. Great full circle tour of the park! Everyone should try it at least once.
Nrthwnd
"Cats in Disney Sea! No darnit, not The Musical..." C - the third letter of the alphabet, a number that I find as good luck in any form or combination. So here it is - The Three C's - Clam-shaped Sandies; Cats in the Landscape; Cafe Portofino... After I met up with David, we went for something to eat, and I had already looked at the menu at Sebastion's Calypso Kitchen in Mermaid lagoon. We had some nice sandwiches (with shell shaped bread!) there, and then continued toruing around the back of the park. We did re-rides on "Raging Spirits", but as Single Riders, so David was essentially "on his own" for this one. And he survived, heh heh! I was so proud of him.... Back to the mountain and another "Journey" followed by another undersea adventure, thanks to "20K". A stop for beverages, and then eventually working our way back to the front of the park, particularly the Cafe Portofino, which offered a great selection of chicken and pasta dishes. And Italian beers as well. One of which I did - not - like. I just found it too "sour" for my tastes, if such a description exists for beer. But I was able to find something else, that I had had in another part of the park. Whew! We settled on the outside patio table area of Portofino, with food and drink to enjoy, and people watch, and volcano watching for fire burps, from hour to hour. And when we were close to our last FastPass, we headed back to "Jouney," enjoyed it one more time, then came back to ou patio table, which was still pretty empty. I also missed taping a sudden downpour that happened when we were eating! It only lasted for several minutes, but still. It would have made a great little video, lol. So now, we're back at Cafe Portofino, just having drinks now, and waiting and hoping that "Fantasmic" will be a 'go' that evening. Happily, it was.... For our afternoon meal, this was the menu at Sebastion's Calypso Kitchen in Mermaid Lagoon. A few examples (I love Japanese fake food!) of the menu. But we were interested in the pork sandwich, so we both went with that. Voila - "Dinner is Served" - oops wrong movie.... Great shape of the sandwiches! Always adding to the theme, even small things like this, is what Disney does best. (And the sandwich was awesome, too!) A nice plant arrangement, outside along a path. It says.... "Trust With No Stain". Perhaps for a laundry detergent? Awww, Goofy is still not getting the fan-love he deserves! Score one for Single Riding! David is happy..and still alive he finds, lol. Something nice and cool, back at Base Camp Grill. And look - new headband! And look! Cats! A mother and her two kittens were wandering around the landscaping between Raging Spirits and Base Camp Grill. They hung around, and so did a small group of us kitty stalkers, lol. I'm sure these three are getting a better deal, than the ones in Disneyland, lol! So much landscaping to get lost in, here. These are the two little runts. Never keeping still enough for a pose, heh. Exploring all around... except near us. Another shot of Mermaid Lagoon. Mmmmm I love the view of this, daytime and night time. Before we hit Journey, I get my usual TDS visit photo, taken with my buddy here. And he's always there! And this is it - the best pic David could get of our Fave Monster in all of The Disney Kingdom. (IMhO) And still not happy with us being there.... (DbM) Beautiful lighting effects in the cavern entry area of "Journey". Some nice plantings in pots, on our way to Cafe Portofino. This is what your first see, when you enter the Cafe. But we went for pasta dishes instead, with seafood. And drinks. Unfortunately, my first Italian beer was not a hit. So I changed to something else, that other parts of the park, were selling as well. Ooops - I totally forgot The Food Shot with this one! It was so delish and by my third beer...well, here's the end of it.
Nrthwnd
FANTASMIC is a Go! (o: Our last night ends. )o: So, after zipping up into Mysterious island for a FP'd re-ride of "Journey", we came back down to where we anted to view Famtasmic! from. Usually, when they cancelled a showing, it was something like less than fifteen minutes, truth! They go that close, and it must be really sad for them, since the show is supposed to be AWE-SOME. But with fireworks. And rain/wind don't let 'the show must go on." Until this last night we were at the park. Nothing said over the loud speakers, and by five minutes to the hour, we were really hoping for the best. Then we moved to what turned out to be a great viewing spot. They rope off an area to the right of the lagoon, near us at the Cafe Portofino, for wheelchair viewing. We as gp are allowed to stand up to where the rope stops us. And with twenty feet or so between us and the water's edge...only three wheelchairs. We had total head clearance of the show, which we were very surprised at, since we just joined the audience ten minutes before it started. And years ago, i spent up an hour to wait for these TDS shows, Mythica and BraviSEAmo! Now I know better. The show was great, the best part for myself was The Dragon making its appearance. And of coyrse all those wonderful disney fireworks used through-out the show. Very cool in the Harbour. After that, we headed back to the hotel, and I just sat staring out the window as lights went out on attractions here and there in both parks. But next week, I'll start going through what I am (in)famous for... My Souvenirs Haul. And with this kind of tour - it's all mostly about Disney, woo hoo!!! Can't wait to "show and tell" about everything... (EDIT To Add: David and myself actually saw the original Fantasmic, at DL back in March of 1996. So it was a real treat seeing this one for our first time, so many years later etc. Very cool. We also have a couple of park photos taken from the [then] parking lot in front of DL. Memories...) Here's where our view of Mt.P was, from the Cafe Portofino. David in position, to catch Mt.P when it has a 'burp' or two. (o; Success! A rumbly in the tumbly, lol! (DbM) Then, a good one! They were very intermittent, though. We couldn't time them apart, for all the hours we spent there, lol. (DbM) After that - Fantasmic starts... (And after this first shot, I just didn't take any more pix of it. I wanted to see it with my own eyes, and NOT through a camera lens. So the rest are from David. xox me) (DbM) (DbM) And..... A Fountain. This reminds me. They should drown That Sorcerer's Hat at the Disney Studios. Just a thought. (DbM) Brooms - it had to be - broomsss...EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEp. (DbM) I think this was where The Dragon shows up. (DbM) I love firey BOOMS! (DbM) {firey?} SPOILER ALERT... Yeah, I think this where The Dragon...Blows up (DbM) Then it goes nutso-FIREWORKS-crazy! (DbM) Then, one more gasp of fire - and it calms down - and it's over. Perfect. Will see it again, next visit for sure. (DbM)
Nrthwnd
~ July 8/13 - Heading Home ~ We had our last breakfast at the lovely Tokyo Hilton Garden Lounge Restaurant buffet. We'd miss it. Then, happily, a non-stop flight to home. No running for transfers, or such junk. (On-Ride Photos to follow...) I thought I would try the Japanese "pig snout".....hee hee. It was lotus root, ha! Thankfully, not ours. And we're off, to home! Some beuatiful views, through the night/day/night/whatever, lol.
Nrthwnd
~ But First, Some On-Ride Photos! ~ We did manage to get a few on-ride photos during the tour, alhough most of them, natch, were at Disney,. And all the others were at Fuji and Sea Paradise. The first three, if you've been following this report along, you have already seen. The Sea Paradise Park one, we decided to get as a fridge magnet, then discovered at home, the little thing could be sat upright on a table, etc! So, it's ON TOP of the fridge, not on the fridge itself, LOL. The other two were for walk-throughs at Fuji-Q. The first one was some kind of "Prison Break" thing we had to gallop through in less than ten minutes..or/and we lost! The second one was from the park's famous walk-through, "Haunted Hospital". And walking through that attraction was four times as long as "Prison Break", lol! But it was good and really intense at times. I would do it again. Even all of those stairs, ha ha. Nrthwnd
And here's the rest of the on-ride photos, mostly at DIsney resort, with one other photo from Fuji-Q, I am most fond of..... Indy first. The whole thing, with the photo. And Indy has a Single Riders Line, too! Raging Spirits as well, and Tower of Terror from time to time, although not advertised on the park maps Close-up on all of us in the jeep. And WTF is that kid doing behind us??? Then there's the wet one. The only attraction in Tokyo Disneyland (I believe still) that has the Single Rider line. The whole thing. Close up on us. I love the packaging of this on-ride pic! The whole thing. Going.....down? Us. Reacting. Golden. Takabisha in Fuji-Q has a lovely on-ride photo display card. Open, the whole thing. Our close up. And don't Elissa and I look OMG excited about riding Takabisha? Group shot of the back of the photo holders. Hilltopper39
Looks like you had a great time! Every time I see a report that has some kind of menu for food I can't help but do the Yen to dollar conversion and it still amazes me how relatively "cheap" some of the stuff at the Tokyo parks is. Pork sandwich with french fries and a drink for 900 yen, or about $10? I feel like that meal would be about $15 in Orlando. How do some of the sit down restaurants compare? Again, thanks for the awesome report, I now want to get to Tokyo worse than ever. One of these days......
David H
Yeah, I was amazed that reasonably priced -- and tasty! -- food could be had at the Tokyo Disney parks, even if the portions weren't all that big. I really loved the chicken legs they had near Raging Spirits, which helped pass the time. And I also enjoyed the Rueben sandwiches in the NY deli (both in Disneysea), which I'd eat while watching Fantasmic. I had several of each over my days there! By the way, the rides with single rider can vary. On my visit last Fall, they only had it for one ride in each park: Splash Mountain and Indy. I even double-checked with guest relations to make sure I didn't miss any. For each, you got in the Fastpass line, then split off at the point where you would normally turn in your fastpass. azza29
That Indy ride photo is really impressive - definitely worth shelling out extra for. Great TR, by the way - looks like you guys had a fantastic time in Japan!
Nrthwnd
^^^ The conversion was really good IMhO, so that 1000 Yen was literally $10 Cdn, at that time. And there are so many good places in both parks to get everything from flavoured popcorn, to full meals, and everything else in between to snack on. We didn't do any table service restaurants in either park, sorry. I still want to do that buffet (Sailing Day Buffet) in Disney Sea, heh heh. ^^ Yeah, I knew that they varied their Single Rider queues depending on the season and the theme currently happening at the parks. I must say, though, in the three times I have been to the Tokyo Disney Resort, three Single Rider Line queues always existed: Splash Mountain in DL, and Raging Spirits and Indy in TDS. I do remember a Single Riders line opening up (from time to time) at Journey and definitely one at Tower of Terror. All in the timing of the visit, hmm? ^ Do a TPR Japan Tour! Robb and Elissa (as well as most of the rest of us) are in with Japan, and the tours seem to be happening every one-two years now. So start saving up and you're sure of an amazingly awesome time in Japan! Here's a photo I took of Raging Spirits, then totally forgot to transfer it to my trip folders! I loved the purple crawling all over it, as well as the dark red light on the ride's tracks. Edited September 27, 2013 by Nrthwnd
azza29
^Oh, I absolutely intend to! After reading your, Chuck's and Robb's TRs I am completely convinced that this is somewhere I *need* to visit!
Nrthwnd
So, just before I start "Show & Telling" all about the SOUVENIRS I got on the tour next week - and yes Chuck, I outdid myself on this one - here's a few last photos of the tour, that David took, and I liked. A lovely shot he took of Eejanaika, taken from our turn on the Sky Wheel in Fuji-Q park. David's fave colour is purple. And Disney Sea supplied that colour admirably. A real artsy farsty shot of Lava Monster in Journey. Still awesome to see, visit after visit. This is the first shot David actually got, of Mt.Prometheus belching a good one. Nrthwnd
~ The Souvenirs Haul ~ (Part 1...) Never let it be said that I try to "hold back" when it comes to finding and buying souvenir items in a TPR Tour. Some times I actually don't find much to buy (true!), and then there's those other times..... The majority of all this stuff is (naturally) from the Tokyo Disney Resort, but there are some things I got here and there, from the Sapporo parks... and Fuji-Q. The "meat cow capsule machine" was found again at Cosmoworld. And I actually got a non-DIsney music CD from Fuji-Q, although I would call it a more dance music type CD. But the park's logo was on it, and that was good enough for me, LOL! Coffee mugs, mini-mugs, a few pins, and other stuff I knew I couldn't live without, of course. Like a (cat) hair remover roller with Chandu on it, from Sindbad's Voyages. Or a nice washcloth from Fuji-Q with Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel on it - with the Fuji-Q logo right there on the bottom of it! Lots of stuff. So, here we go.... For starters I got this lovely foldable paper 'globe' gift from Kathryn and Michael (and Maria) from Australia. (Kathryn and I sort of trade waterglobes back and forth, lol.) And a neat little wind up mailman, who looks like is giving me the finger! We'll get that fixed by the end of this.... Here's the mess of it all, mostly Tokyo Disney by all the bags. Where all the leftover TPR goody bag snacks (and others bought along the way) go. It's all gone, now. There's the awesome Japan Rail Pass up there; a great cooling towel we got in our TPR Goodies Backpacks; one of the two (I threw the other away) 'rain coats' we didn't need at TDS, eventually. Followed by... Park maps! Fans. Very useful, while we were there. T-shirts, including one from the Sapporo Bier Garten (all you can eat and drink for nearly two hours - awesome!). I love these food erasers! And much cheaper than the plastic foods one can buy for mucho $$$. I added them to the three cards I bought before, in 2011. Here's the face cloth from Fuji-Q. The only one I could find with the park's logo on it. Lots here: most interesting (to me) was the themed bottle of Coke in it's own paper container; the Chandu hair removal roller - his tail is the handle, heh; candies and candy holders from Pooh; coffee packets from Disney; and a neat little Eye Scream trinket box Lauren gave me at one of the Sapporo parks - Thanks Lauren! Little stuffed characters, mostly from Disney, with the exception of one freeked out looking cat, from Rusutsu Resort on the left. More to come... Nrthwnd
~ Capsule Machine Stuff! ~ So most of us all know there is a LOT of capsule machines in Japan. You really can't avoid them. In some bathrooms and even mall shops. And of course, in a number of the parks we visited. I got myself another "meat animal" at Cosmoworld - sadly, a sheep. Want to get that cow, heh heh. Several of us picked up this neat flashlight-like thing that projected a typical Japanese Horror image on the wall. Very cool. And I picked a couple of the "food things", the details of which were equally as amazing as the plastic foods, restaurants buy for their front display case. And cheaper too! Here's what i got... What a capsule machine in Japan looks like - this was The One with Meat Cow in it! And when most of us found It.... Everybody tried to get The Meat Cow! Don't know how many actually did score one... So here's what I picked up through the tour. And I didn't open them till I got back home - except for a couple, lol. Oh, and let's play "Find the Hidden Mickey". After I opened them all up. Meat Sheep! And an angry mushroom on the left. A really detailed anime' figure on the right. What a mess, huh? And WHERE do I put all of them??? (Some of them are up here beside me on my cork message board. Not showing. Way too messy, heh.) And some of them ended up on my computer's power tower. BFFs, lol. So....Meat Sheep, meet Meat Rooster/Chicken. The really cool projection light we got at the Rusutsu Park entrance bldg. And mine projects... This. Neat, huh? (More to come....) Nrthwnd
~ More Stuff... With "a Bit of" Disney mixed in. ~ Like I said before, there were coffee mugs to get; small souvenir cups to enjoy as a 'freebie' sometimes with a food purchase; a few pins from here and there; stuff. I always try to keep in mind, when I go for souvenirs, that for the most part, i want them to be practical and not just gathering dust, like some of them (capsule things) will do anyway, lol. In any case, here's some more of what i picked up along the tour.... The coffee mugs; plastic 'glassware' (and a Real Glass shotglass); some small mini-mugs - mostly from Disney, but Thomas Train (middle) was from Fuji-Q. And the coaster on the right is from Hokkaido, which supplies a really big world of...Onions! Mostly pins, mostly (again) Disney. With a Rusutsu Resort pin (bottom left); a cute bear on Hokkaido fridge magnet (top left); and a Sea Paradise combo fridge magnet free-standing in-station photo! (whew...middle right). Figure stuff... including a bottle topper with Daisy and Donald holding my straw; a Special Edition Vinylmation Mickey (of three I remember); small figs from PoTC; put-together Winnie! On-ride/attraction Photos. And a few theme park music CDs. 4 are Disney, but the one in the middle is from Fuji-Q! Mainly a dance cd, but the cover's got coaster track on it, there's the Fuji-Q Logo on it...and it's called JETCOASTER! And it's pretty good to listen to, actually. Nrthwnd
Souvenirs - and All Disney! So, after all of what I have shown here, there's still a few items that are strictly Tokyo Disney Resort, and the 30th Anniversary of the resort itself, which is really cool. And I bought the theme from cups to popcorn! We brought these back to the people who were kind enough to put up with Her Majesty (Stella) for nearly three weeks. She behaved, whew! Chocolates in the tin boxes, Pluto on a hamburger I am still trying to figure out, lol! I got an extra CD for one of the other tour peeps who: saw the show at TDS; loved it; wanted the CD; couldn't find it; and I did! Actually a great listen to, even if you haven't ever seen the show itself. Hope you're enjoying it, Keith! (o; The collectible cars. I used to collect Corgi Cars. This is exactly like them, by TOMY. I love them! Must - get - more. A popcorn holder AND a Popcorn Necklace! Bought at the Gag Factory Shop in ToonTown. With pops looking like Mickey and Donald! (non-edible-HA) A little "wind chime" that ended up on our Guest Room door, lol. Happy 30 TDLR! This is The Hat of The Celebration! Local Tokyo Disney visitors don't seem to go for the original ears-on-a-cap, believe it! This is The Only Magic Kingdom that does not sell the traditional 'ears'! So they put ears on headbands and these awesome HUMONGUS hats. Natch, I bought this one. And it's "official"! Behind the left ear! And then there's those Four CDs! Clockwise from upper left, all around the Fuji-Q one...complete Tokyo Disney Sea park soundtracks; 30th (and earlier) Anniversary songs; 30th Anny theme song, (sung many ways), "Happiness Is Here"; soundtrack of the (still) new Fantasmic! And just to be sure - 10. the Sindbad song IS called "The Compass of Your Heart". Not The Excess of Your Fart.
Nrthwnd
~ So, This Is (near) The End, My Friends ~ So, after all of that, the constant question I get asked by the people I do TPR tours with... "Where the heck do you put it all, year after year, tour after tour?" The short answer is, we have a great big house and I thank the timing in our getting it, to have it now in these economic unbalanced (sometimes) times. And as I have said before, I try to look for souvenirs that are practical and 'useable' in some way or function. There will always be the "dust collectors" (Capsule Machines!), but I do my best to make sure it all fits here, somehow. So, here's where some of the stuff has gone... As I showed before, a good number of the new capsule 'things' ended up on top of the power tower for the computer. Very "nearby" lol. The nice little Eye Scream Shop (right) that Lauren and Matt gave me, ended up in my "Scooby Doo & the Ghost" window scene. The new Food Eracers cards ended up mingling with the first ones I got in 2011. My new heftier second mug rack is where recent park mugs have gone, like the new one for TDLR (middle-right), beside the HKDL (middle-two). And Disney Paris' below them all. The new Pooh Candy container sits in the daylight, I can see from my pc every day, all day. The smaller "expresso" cups are stacked in a kitchen window. TDLR's 30th anny on top. Six different TPR tours' cups on display there. (o; Here's a game - the newly gotten Hokkaido Onion coaster (left) is beside a coaster from the theme park past. Where is it from? Clue: It's over 25 years old! And those small character stuffies?..... Well, every once in a great while, I catch them....... In their own cute little orgy. Awwwwwww. I can never figure out who starts it, too. I get the feeling that Chiquita is "in charge" but we'll never know, really. And after all that, we also got our postman friend, to change that finger - just a wee bit there. Whew! And him and paper globe are on our mantle piece, thank you Kathryn, Maria and Michael! Nrthwnd
Two other things I forgot to post! One was a shot of the night light pendants I picked up at Tokyo Disney Resort. Three of them were for the current 30th Anniversary of the Resort, the other was just a "flashing Mickey", heh. The two Big Ear Ones had different music 'sounds' as well as several Mickey expressions, when you pressed one of the buttons on them. Silly, but fun at the time. And I took a video of them flashing (jamming?) away, along with a few other night lights I had bought, before. At Disney. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=MVI_3395_h664[/coastertube] Enjoy. And sorry the sound isn't all that great. I'm still learning. Here's the four night lights I picked up at Disney.
Nrthwnd
So a Few Final Thoughts Etc. on this Japan Tour... THANKS go out to Robb and Elissa for again making Japan be all the more different, on my third go with them. HUGS! LOVE TO David, my partner of 41 years, for allowing me to FINALLY talk him into a TPR Tour, lol! And it was always going to be one to Japan, anyway. I think we had a really great time over there, and certainly enjoy some new experiences together (all you can eat bbq!). Hugs and to you. AWESOME to tour with people I knew, and others I enjoyed meeting and touring with, first time. It was great to tour with all of you. Japan is what it is, calm and serene in one setting, then absolutely WTF in another. Riding coasters that probably wouldn't make it past US Standards; checking out totally cool and cheesy dark rides, fun houses, MIRROR mazes! Always stuff that's new to discover.... or walk into! And once again - if ANY one of you out there is even considering an overseas TPR Tour, DO IT! Start saving up now and in a year or so... you too can be stuck in a 3 hour line at Fuji-Q Highland Park... Awesome. Thanks for reading my report. Next year for me - Scandi. On our Canada Day (July 1/13) in Japan, with the WRONG Mt.Fuji behind us, lol! It's just outside Rusutsu Resort, Sapporo. Edit to add this one. I mean, c'mon! It's practically manditory for us Disney Parks Freeks! And THANKS again for checking out our TR, to the always awesome country of Japan!
Jackdude101
If the "any train/transport with more than 1 station must be charged/taxed" rule is applicable - then why does the Tokyo DisneySea Electric Railway have 2 stations and why is it free? I think I have the answer, based on translating the DisneySea Electric Railway's Japanese-language Wikipedia article (no English version exists, atm): in 1983, Japanese rail regulations required that any railroad, even amusement park railroads, must be treated like conventional railroads if they have more than one stop/station. If they have more than one station, the operator is required, among other things, to charge fares to passengers and is forbidden to use open-sided passenger cars. To avoid these types of things that would essentially "kill" the Western River Railroad in Tokyo Disneyland before it even opened, Oriental Land Company chose to have only one station for the railroad. Later, in 1987, Japanese rail regulations were relaxed, which allowed the DisneySea Electric Railway, opened in 2001, to have two stations and function as a normal amusement park railroad without having to charge fares. Side note: the Disney Resort Line (Tokyo Disney Resort's monorail), which also opened in 2001 and has four stations, requires a separate fare to ride, so it seems these Japanese rail regulations were only relaxed a little.
