Three primary school students who were riding the roller coaster were unhurt. According to Koriyama Police Station, Masahiro Kaneko, 48, was doing maintenance work about 50 meters away from the departure platform of the ride in Dream Land at Koriyama Culture Park. The roller coaster, comprising six cars that reach a top speed of 65 kph, hit him at around 1:55 p.m. Shortly after, he died from blood loss. Police are investigating why Kaneko was inspecting the ride while it was in operation. Edited September 11, 2012 by jedimaster1227
Jew Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Tragic. The way Japan seems to do things, I doubt this ride will ever reopen.
DougMJr Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Here is some video from news networks on the accident. The Coaster's RCDB http://www.rcdb.com/2499.htm TPR POV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnCJedY8aI4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYE3GBBXA-8
Tmcdllr Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Why, why would you even attempt to work on it while it was running.......WHY? I just don't understand. There is NO REASON TO EVER PERFORM WORK WHILE THE RIDE IS OPERATING! His life was not worth losing fixing something that could have waited until the ride was shut down. There just is no excuse for this. So tragic and needless.
Spideyfreak Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 LOTO Fail. On a serious note though: I feel sorry for the guy's family.
gisco Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Looks like this happened on the lift hill and that is one slow lift hill.
