BiCoastal Kid
Is it me or did they just take Robb & Ellissa's trip, and slap a banner and extra 10 tons onto it?
robbalvey
^ Pretty much. Their trip seems to be a little more "rushed around" than our trip was, but it's pretty much the same thing in a shorter amount of time. But hey, that's why we posted our Japan travel guide so it could help people organize trips! --Robb
SharkTums
^To add on to what he said... I think they hit one "major" park that we didn't, but we had one 'major' park that they didn't do. They did a couple of smaller parks with credits even I skipped, but then I think we hit some little things that they didn't. It all kind of equals out but their pace is more rushed. I know they had a 5am day!!!! Ewwww!!!!
BiCoastal Kid
^Who gets up at 5am? Gross... I bet they eat more McDonalds than you guys did, though.
SharkTums
^LOL! Mmmm the Indian food was soooo good there! Oh, and I forgot, they also didn't hit Universal which is pretty major, and Festival Gate...and we spent extra time at Disney. Mmmm Journey.... robbalvey
^ I dunno, Elissa probably has them beat as far as McDonalds eating goes. There were actually two major parks (Tokyo Summerland and Universal Studios Japan) and one minor park with a major coaster (Festival Gate) that we hit that ECC didn't. They hit two small parks (Hanayashiki, Nagoya Zoo) that we didn't really care about. And the only major park they hit that wasn't on our list was Nasu Highland (which was the 5am day!) So yeah, it pretty much balances out. But what I think made our trip so much better than the ACE trip is that we weren't in any of those photos! --Robb "We have our own set of geeks!" BiCoastal Kid
OMG, they rode a 52 YEAR OLD TOGO... death. And I bet they counted this as a credit. It looks more like a waterless log flume to me.
robbalvey
^ Yeah, I guess someone could argue that a Mack or Intamin Bobsled is just a flume without water, but I agree...I wouldn't count that thing as a credit either! --Robb "Always wondered why it was listed on RCDB." CoasterFanatic
If you count that thing, you might as well count every Alpine Slide also. There really isn't any difference. I have talked with a couple "old-timers" that have said they only count a ride as a coaster if it coasts up a hill. This is a pretty good litmus test as it excludes powered coasters and rides like the one pictured two posts ago. But, at the same time, it would also eliminate all the Caripro (sp?) Single-Rail Suspended coasters and let a few flumes and pretzel rides sneak in.
robbalvey
None of the 117 people on our trip got to ride Fujiyama, but a few of us got to at least ride up the lift hill. Wow, is it true that the people on the ECC trip didn't get on Fujiyama? I guess it was running on day one, but not on day two? And since they only had an hour at the park on day one, everyone decided to ride Dodonpa instead? Bummer. And also sounds as though the "boat jumpers" weren't there at Sea Paradise! Damn. Missed out on cool ass random Japanese funky stuff! --Robb "I guess they can all live vicariously through our DVD!" Alvey
Meteornotes
You know, ARN&R is usually pretty damn funny, but they have entered the comedy hall of fame with their latest updates. These past couple of days have killed. And there is plenty of comedy fodder in the picture and trip reports. Wes should really take a look at them... dt

There really isn't any difference. pretzel rides sneak in. I didn't think most alpine slides have chain lifthills you ride or brakes external to the ride vehicle. Er, what's a pretzel ride? robbalvey
Well, this sucks. Looks like the ECC caught on to ARNR: http://www.coasterclub.org/trips/reports/2005/japan/day14/ And if you try to click on the caption links from ARNR ECC has blocked their page! It looks like someone can't take a joke. --Robb

Meteornotes
I'm thinking the links from the ARN&R page got their trip far more attention then it would have ever gotten otherwise. But I guess some people take themselves far, far too seriously. Like ACERs... dt
DenDen
DUDE! I just figured it out, http://www.absolutelyreliable.com/ and http://americansagainstarnr.blogspot.com/ are probably in cahoots! They BOTH link back to each other in the same fashion. (Boycott this site) They BOTH sell merchandise in similarly named stores hosted by cafepress. It's a conspiracy to get your money! (The protest site's store url is "arnr.11256399" and not "barnr", so they both use the same "name") But hey, ARNR is good stuff. robbalvey
^ The Boycott thing is an old "inside joke" going WAY back to some thread on URC if I remember correctly. ^^ And yeah, Dave, you're right...although most people in ECC I know are nothing like the ACErs, but then again, the majority of people on the Japan trip were ACE, so what do you expect. --Robb
DenDen
^ The Boycott thing is an old "inside joke" going WAY back to some thread on URC if I remember correctly. Meteornotes
RRC is still around, and is full of angry trolls and bitter people. It's worth a laugh to look at occasionally, as it's fun to watch how if someone has a "non-approved" opinion (like that Hades is not the best coaster in the world) how they'll be skewered by all the angry people there. Some folks really need to lighten up... dt
CoasterFanatic
ARN&R got those trip reports 10x the hits that they would have gotten otherwise. I can't believe that they blocked them as a referrer. It is just plain yellow. I believe that "Boycott ARN&R" was first invented by Chuck (coasterfanatic. Yes another one) in a URC board a long time ago. RRC is still around and while there are a ton of trolls on there, there are still a lot of good people. They just don't post like they used to. Guest
Hey Now, I am a staff member of American's Against ARNR. I made the 12 step program for it! Hey gotta help the GP. It is all a joke, but it's too damn funny. Aaron Young (wildone) Eric Hann (THE reverend) and myself, do our best to keep you reading and laughing. Thanks for visiting both sites! lol Katie, now where is my serum gun?, O.
