This morning began early as I went to Zhongshan in Guangdong province in China. My destination was Luming Lake. I had read there were bumper cars here, so I figured there was a park here. I got off the bus and walked ten minutes to the lake and on my way there, I passed the Golden Lion Amusement Machine Company. Seeing the kiddie coaster through the gate tipped me off that this is where rides were made. I asked if I could go in and get some photos and I was given permission. I saw that the coaster was not complete as the chain lift had not been installed and it had no train or loading station. Only the track was completed. I guess this is for show only. I took photos of this coaster, the frame of a pirate ship, a carousel and a paratrooper before leaving.

 

I got to Luming Lake and at the entrance, I wondered if the place was still open. When I saw a lady in the ticket booth, I knew it was open. I paid 3 yuan (about 45 US cents) and entered. As I entered, I noticed an old brochure with a kiddie coaster on it. I was also told all they had to do there were the boats on the lake. I walked through the park and walked past some rusty old kiddie rides that stopped running a long time ago. I walked around the lake and came to a cycle monorail and bumper cars. I noticed the monorail had stopped running a long time ago and was very rusty. I also noticed a guy standing by the bumper cars. Expecting to be told that the bumper cars no longer ran, I asked if they were open and as it turns out, they are still in operation. I took one ride. The ride op got into another car and we had a bit of road rage. After the bumper cars, I walked over to a haunted house ride and took a spin on it. After the haunted house, I found a kiddie coaster (not listed on RCDB) called Golden Dragon. This coaster hasn't ran in a long time. Weeds were growing up through a couple of sections of the track. I took some photos and then left. As I walking towards the exit, I passed the footer for a paratrooper. I didn't take time to take a boat on the lake. Other than the ride op who joined me on the bumper cars, the lady at the ticket booth and a lady running a food stand, I was the only person at the park. I imagine it was a very nice place when it opened. I think that the lake's location far away from the city may have doomed it. With a gate admission being charged, boat rides on the lake, bumper cars and the haunted house, Luming Lake is still holding on. I say within the next year, it will become fully defunct. I classify Luming Lake as a semi-defunct park as it is still open, but most of the attractions have been closed or removed. The only activities are the boats, haunted house and bumper cars. That is all.

 

For those wondering how many coasters I have discovered before they were listed on the RCDB, I am up to having discovered 73 coasters. I discovered that the city of Chaozhou has two coasters in Fenghuangzhou Park (I haven't been here yet) and I found that Changjiang Water World was once home to a shuttle loop that has long since been removed.

I am on my way to Luming Lake, but I will make a short stop at this place.

I agree. This park should be defunct, but something keeps it hanging on. I am happy to have taken time to visit.

There are small cottages near the lake that people used to stay in while visiting and there is a huge swimming pool there that closed a long time ago. Luming Lake was probably a very nice park when it was new. Too bad none of us found it sooner.

Believe it or not, most of the parks I have visited here are doing very well. Luming is not one of them. There are a few others that aren't doing too well, but most parks here are busy.
