verticalzero Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Anyone have any new photo's of SFNO to see if the water has been drained away from the rides. I wonder if the Woodie will have to be torn down cos of rotting timber.
coaster1 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Still water around I bet .. and doubt anything besides some track work would be needed if that at all .. remember built in a flood prone area, so these things are considered before building.
DerekRx Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Plus MegaZeph is built with a steel structure. Only the track layering is wood. Does that make it a steel coaster?
BarryH Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 ^Megazeph is still a woodie. A woodie is defined if the track layering is wood. The structure can be steel or wood. Cheetah is a woodie even though its structure is steel. Gemini is a steel coaster because the track is steel, even though the structure is wood. I think there are more pressing needs in New Orleans rather than getting the SF park up and running, but it is important to get it up and running if only to provide entertainment for the residents.
phazan Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 they started pumping water out from the city now. they say it could be up to 9 months though.
black sabbath Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 (edited) It is pretty much a given that SFNO won't be re-opening this season. It will be atleast next year because, most people down there are not able to go to an amusement park when there is other stuff to take care of like repairing their houses, and getting there lives back together again. Not to mention there is probably a lot to repair at SFNO, and a lot to clean up. Does anyone know how well SFNO performs in that market? Last I heard it doesn't do too well so SF probably won't be so quick to get it going anyway. Edited September 7, 2005 by black sabbath
4718 Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 they started pumping water out from the city now. they say it could be up to 9 months though. I think that 9 months part is bogus, if you're talking about pumping out the water, that is. I heard maybe 3 months at the most before everything totally dries out, 3 weeks from now and........I forgot what they were saying would happen by then. 9 mos. before the park reopens though, even that sounds a bit iffy......depends how bad everything got blown around I guess.
USRoadTripper Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 SFNO most likely won't be re-opening this season. That gets my vote for understatement of the year! -Julie
