QueerRudie Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 A few minor 'items' that sort of catch me as being potentially either painful, or not built (Not realistic): On the log flume, you have a single point lift hill segment before the platform turn. As far as I can remember, I've yet to see any flume with a single segment lift hill on them- usually, water and gravity do the work. Either adjust your drop on the flume, or raise the path that's over it, so your flume no longer requires that lift section. On your wooden coaster, you have (again) a single point rise into the banked U-turn, and that screams pain. You might want to revise that to either feature a rising/diving helix (Depending on directon of travel, or remove that part ot the element completely. R.D.
funkeymon Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Thanks for the tips. All of those will be taken in account and changed immediately. Thanks again as I would of just left those alone.
funkeymon Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Sorry for the double post. I've been working really really hard to finish the park by the end of the week. Foliage is almost complete. I have a challenge, a new one actually. The answer to the old one was the Paratrooper at Silverwood. You have to design a building for the park. Well, two actually. But you can choose either one. Basically, each plot is 3x3 but right next to each other. Person with the best building, gets credit in the park! And they also get to see the park itself too. Picture time! (oh and QueerRudie, I fixed the problems like you asked. SCR1.BMP Foliage!!! SCR2.BMP More Foliage!!! SCR3.BMP The plot for the building. The plan for this is to build it in a sandbox and post a picture of it. When I choose the winner, He/she will get the park and build a copy of it there. Voting will take place in the forum. Have fun!
RCT2day Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Nice Intamin and good use of foliage below and around it. Good buildings. On that path near the contest plot of land, use the same fence surrounding the flowers and the tree, having two different fences doesn't match well. As for your contest, I'll try to get one in if time permits me. Is the amount of land we have to make the building 3x3 or the space you have in the picture (which I think is 3x6)?
funkeymon Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 The buildings can be 3x3 or 3x6. I would love to see someone try a 3x3 and make a cool courtyard next to it!
QueerRudie Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Re: Coasters in your park- The tower end of the Schwarzkopf shuttle loop- I'd re-think the structure on it. If you don't have cs for the structure, I'd leave it as-is with the standards of the ride- Schwarzkopf did not as a general rule use box-system/girder construction for His coasters, and never used it on the shuttle loop coasters. As for the launch track, you can sort of give it a more traditional look by using brake sections timed to 54 mph (Therefore they don't close!) to make the structure look beefier there. Also- be sure the two shuttle towers aren't overly tall- that's a common mistake on most RCT II Schwarzkopf shuttle loops- and one that tends to stand out in a park. On the Intamin Hypercoaster: In the first shot you posted, I'd re-think the left turn, short rise, right turn- and see if you can make that a level area. The negative G pop there will affect your rides ratings- and smoothing it out will make it look better. On the same theme, in the second shot, your track rises up, flattens out for one and then continues rising. I'd either make it into a double-up element, or place that flat section elsewhere in the block area- it doesn't really fit the ride itself.
liftsifter Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Can't say I know what park it's from, but you've got an amazing park here!
Coupon Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 RD hit the nail on the weak spots for the coaster for me! Anyways, great park! Good job on making the Intamin hyper fit in so well.
funkeymon Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Thanks everyone for all the comments! I have made the modifications that QueerRudie requested. I think you will find the new changes to be quite nice. Also, the building contest is still going on and will continue until November 1st! So get those awesome buildings in!!! SCR1.BMP I just like this shot... SCR2.BMP Hawkeye's awesome new helix. SCR3.BMP New tunnel instead of the turn thing. SCR4.BMP Here is another picture of the shot for anyone wanting it... Lets build something great guys!!!
QueerRudie Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Just got a chance to see it- and the coasters are much improved. Keep it up- and I'll be dropping in from time to time to see what you're up to ride-wise (Not that I'm picky, but I think the better term is "specific"...) R.D.
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I love what you're doing with this park! Keep it up, and don't forget to offer a download when its done, or a master file so we can use the original landscape.
funkeymon Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 Thanks for the comments! I could use some more though. Hehe... Anyways, I cleaned up Gauntlet a bit.. SCR1.BMP Gauntlet's new clean up look. SCR2.BMP Boomerang's new color scheme. SCR3.BMP Overview!
imawesome1124 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I don't like gauntlet's colors all that much. Maybe try a darker purple for the track. And I would really suggest changing the color of the supports. I only use that shade of brown for like a mine theme. Maybe dark purple for the track and gray or burgundy for the supports. Everything else I love, especially the Boomerang sign.
funkeymon Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 I have a couple of color schemes for Gauntlet. You guys get to choose them. SCR1.BMP Number 1. SCR2.BMP Number 2. SCR3.BMP Number 3. SCR4.BMP Number 4.
QueerRudie Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 The black colors work well with the site- but I'd re-think the loop a bit, and refine the drop/raise the lift. Although it's a pain in the ass, a large-scale loop would look magnificent there, and would eliminate the need for the straight rack in the middle of the curve before the drop. You could, at the same time, raise the lift hill up, and extend the track for the height there. Other than that, looks good, I think.
imawesome1124 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 #1 and #2 are tied for my favorite. It seems like just making the colors darker made a ton of difference.
funkeymon Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 Number 1 is the winner! It was also my favorite... Just some random pictures. And QueerRudie, I tried the big loop thing, but it completely made the ride crazy. So I'm keeping it as it is. Don't forget to be building something great for the plot of land in front of the shuttle loop. I really hope that we can get an amazing submission! Thanks guys. SCR1.BMP Hello new colored Gauntlet! SCR2.BMP Don't forget to build guys!!! SCR3.BMP Overview.
funkeymon Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 Ugh. It really annoys me when I get no comments. Anyways, Mooreville has been submitted to New Element. I doubt it will get anything though. Well, wish me the best luck on possibly grabbing my first ever bronze! (I hope)
RCT2day Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Sometimes getting people to comment is hard and I understand that. Just keep people interested as you update. As for the park, it turned out really great and I think you should score well at NE. I'm not promising a gold, silver, or bronze but I wouldn't be surprised if this park received something along those lines. Really great job and I'm looking forward to mor from you.
funkeymon Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 Thanks guys. And yes, I did make a building to put into that plot so.. yeah. Its small, but it reminds me of Italy for some reason, I don't know why though. Here is a picture of it. SCR1.BMP Nice isn't it?
imawesome1124 Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Best of luck, and I honestly think this could get a bronze at NE. This was a fun park to follow and I am very much looking forward to your next park.
funkeymon Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 So sadly, this park did not win a bronze. It missed by .38 of a point. Next time though! And I think I might get it with the one I'm building right now.
