larrygator Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Since I was unable to try out the New Texas Giant with TPR this weekend I decided visit SFGAdv today. Yes, I'm jealous I couldn't make it down to Texas so I'll take my anger out on Elissa and try to make her jealous not being in Jersey. Making someone jealous about New Jersey is not an easy task. Other than the whole jealousy thing I also wanted to get some pictures of new happenings at SFGAdv this year: Repainted Skyride cars, re-opened Tango, Polly-O Train wraps on Runaway Train, Green Lantern Construction, new Discoveries area within the Golden Kingdom. First stop of the day, that would make Elissa jealous, except that she probably found one in Texas. Yes, it's true SFGAdv added a flat ride. Well not really "added", but at least it is open this year. OK, if this picture doesn't make someone jealous... Maybe this one will, if not... Maybe this one will, if not... The incredibly shrinking line for El Toro, led to lots of riding. Not quite ERT, but pretty damn close. Sunday morning crowds on overcast days early in the season rule. Why did this shirt make me think of the Panthers? Beer and cock! Newly painted Skyride cars. Both sides were operating today. The old Yum Yum Ice Cream Palace and Carousel from the Skyride, always brings back childhood memories of my first visit in 1974. Hey Elissa! Close-up for Elissa! Riding in a Polly-O wrapped mine train >>>>>>> New Texas Giant. You know it Elissa!!!! Green Lantern from the Skyride. So what SFoT, we got one of these also. Green Lantern through a hole in the fence. I hope that no one demands I remove this photo. Fantasy Fling has been repainted and renamed The Tornado. Fort Independence is still open for business. Looking out past the park entrance you can see a lot of empty parking spots. Here is the entrance to the new Safari Discoveries area. They moved all the tigers to the Safari and moved different animals into the former Tiger area. More photos from this area will be posted shortly. But first I have a few more pictures for Elissa. I stopped here, right outside the park before getting on the highway. But 45 minutes later I was still thinking of Elissa. Hey Elissa, BITE ME! NOM! NOM! NOM! Edited May 16, 2011 by larrygator
Gerstlauer1 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Really, nice TR! I really enjoyed reading it ! I love the photos of El Toro in that setting... That park is still on my 'must' list!
jjune4991 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Making someone jealous about New Jersey is not an easy task. Quote of the century!! Great TR. It's nice to have a quiet park.
Skycoastin Steve Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I'll be there next Friday. I really think the only ride I may ride other than Green Lantern is El Toro. For real. Perhaps a spin or two on Nitro if I feel like walking over there. Kingda Ka can bite me.
cfc Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Making someone jealous about New Jersey is not an easy task. Quote of the century!! Great TR. It's nice to have a quiet park. That would be quite an accomplishment. If Larry can pull this off, he could rule the world!
larrygator Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Although, I didn't take a picture, Aladabra Island's new occupants are alpacas (or llamas, I can't tell the difference). Not sure where the Giant Tortoises where sent. Temple of the Tiger and their holding pens have been changed. The Temple of the Tiger arena now hosts a sea lion show and assorted animals roam in the tiger's old pens. I sort of like the new area, it brings something to a major American park that is pretty rare, but more common in European parks. Here is an overview of the area. But first another picture to make Elissa jealous. I know you can't make out what it is , but she knows and she is steaming right now about missing this Intamin goodness. There are a couple of signs to greet you and introduce you to the Safari Discoveries area. and pimp the Safari and a nice visual to show the scale of the Safari New animal encounters A cockatoo is there to greet you. I bet some of the Panthers wish they had a cockatoo. The sea lions have names! and reside in the pool of the old Tiger Show arena. There are a lot of "Did You Know?" signs in the area. This pretty bird says, "Hi Piers" This little porker would be bacon if the tigers were still here. There are new stars in the area. Don't go "aaaaaaaaah" this mofo will kill you out in the wild when he grows up. Wallaby or Kangaroo? I didn't see a sign. I say kangaroo. Maybe one of you Busch Gardens Tampa freaks can make a positive ID on these creatures. There are a couple more critters such as turkeys, goats and a Mountain Coati Mundi (google it now), but I know you would rather see the gift shop you enter to leave the area. That's all I got! SharkTums Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Ok, a few things... - I don't think I could ever really be jealous of anything in New Jersey! - McDonalds for Breakfast does not make me jealous. - McDonalds for lunch or dinner does! Especially cause the one we went to in Texas was terrible! - Polly-o wraps are awesome! Although I would not like that product. - I think we should make a cannoli wrapped El Toro Train. - Riding Texas Giant made me want to ride El Toro again, they're VERY similar. Thanks for thinking of me! Even if you were trying to be mean! Oh, btw, so did we get a reason as to why they got rid of the whole tiger thing from SFGAd? Seems like they were going in a really nice direction then did a 180.
the ghost Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 over 3000 posts and I still have no idea how to quote individual things in a post, lol. I agree with a Canoli wrapped train... that would make Intamin rides somehow even better... Elissa, you're brilliant. Also Larry, if it makes you feel better I am jealous as hell. My parents are not "theme park people" so I have been to very few non Californian parks... in fact, the only ones I can think of is Disney World Resort and Universal Resort and BGW. I'll get out there sometime though... El Torro has been calling my name for years!

DiveMachine Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 John Fitzgerald said that he didn't want the tigers to turn on the trainers and give the park a bad rep.
