ScottBrown
Ok so I am going to be heading up to Oregon and was wondering about the parks up there, I know about Oaks Park and Enchanted Forrest but would like to know how they are and if there are anymore small parks I should know about up there. Thank you
deathbydinn
There is a SBNO park in Turner! Not a theme park, but if you're into waterparks one's opening June 6 that looks pretty cool. http://www.evergreenmuseum.org/waterpark/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK-Qlt5HD1o
ScottBrown
The SBNO Park would be Thrillville USA right
cal1br3tto
^Correct. It's right by Enchanted Forest, and the main coaster is gone now. Not sure if there are still other attractions visible. There are no other credits in Oregon, but you won't be too far away from some of the Washington parks. I personally enjoy both Oregon parks and can happily spend 2/3 to a full day at each, but they're not outstanding ride parks. Enchanted Forest has four major attractions: walk-through haunted house, shooting dark ride, homemade partly-themed coaster, and log flume with BONUS COASTER SECTION to qualify it as a credit. There are also a number of quirky walk-through attractions to take up your time, the major themes being fairy tales, English village, and Wild West town. Oaks Park is a traditional amusement park that currently has more of a permanent carnival feel. The compact looper and kiddie coaster are fun (to me, at least), but relatively generic. I recommend Scream-N-Eagle (their KMG Afterburner), Rock-O-Plane, Spider, and Lewis & Clark Great Adventure (very underdeveloped, but strangely entertaining dark ride). ScottBrown
So the coaster is gone now any ideas as to where it ended up I would hate to hear that a Jet Star was scrapped
JimmyBo
I recommend after hitting up the parks, you should check out Portland and a brewery tour. Or just walk around all the breweries yourself. Portland is a pretty awesome city. Also, check out VooDoo Donuts...it's pretty much like an amazing deliciousness in your mouth.
Corkscrew
Those are the only two parks in Oregon... but Enchanted Forest really is a lot of fun. Big Timber Log Ride is one of the best water rides I've been on, and it's technically a coaster. The theming is good, the roller coaster drop is fun, and the final drop gets everyone pretty wet. Ice Mountain Bobsled is by no means a great coaster, but it's very unique. Definitely an attraction you have to go on at least once. The Haunted House is classic. I haven't been in very many but I hear it's one of the best around. My favourite attraction at the park is Challenge Of Mondor. It's a really great trackless target shooting ride; the theming is almost Disney quality and the ride itself is a lot of fun. That's basically the extent of the rides but there's a lot of other things to see. It's similar to Tom Sawyer Island in that there's caves, a fort, etc.
larrygator
Challenge of Mondor is an extremely well done and worthy of re-rides. Oaks has Lusse Skooters, but unfortunately they are not in the best shape. Edited May 9, 2011 by larrygator
coaster-crazy
So the coaster is gone now any ideas as to where it ended up I would hate to hear that a Jet Star was scrapped I emailed RCDB about a year or so ago when the SBNO status for the Jet Star went down. They told me that it ended up being scrapped ... could be wrong though. ~Nicholas
robbalvey
I always felt that Oaks Park was kind of like the Quassy of the west coast. This quirky little traditional park with not many rides, but what they have is half-way decent, and kind of "classic." You spend a couple of hours there and can pretty much see everything. The setting on the water is cool and if they ever put in just a junior wooden coaster I think everyone would suddenly know of the place and it would get a lot of recognition. ScottBrown
Forget a Jr wooden coaster They should just have GCI come in and rebuild the Zip Im sure it could be done with todays technology
cal1br3tto
Quassy and Oaks Park both used to have a Herschell Monster Mouse! [/random fact]
MrMorgan
I have been to Enchanted Forest a few times and I really love Ice Mountain Bobsleds! It's one of those "I could almost build this in my backyard, yet it is surprisingly fun and thrilling" type of rides. The park itself is also fun to explore, especially if you are with some fun friends who aren't afraid to do things like slide down slides and climb through child-sized caves and stuff. Make sure you take the time to really walk around the park and go inside the different structures because there are a lot of fun surprises. The haunted house walk through is also very memorable!
