How did you like it? I'm looking for ideas for the next update for it already; I've got a few ideas, but I'd like feedback on how you liked it's design.

You need to switch the order of the "days". I originally entered the numbers using "Day 1" as Tuesday, and they came out all wrong.

AJ or RD, can you run the numbers in an hour or so? Our CEO is in today.......which means total chaos.

I can do the post around lunch whenevery one is of eating.

And B&M Sitdown it is.

It looks like the numbers didn't change all that much; CBC was the winner- but by a narrow narrow margine of less than 5.0 pts. (THe spreadsheet is acting 'funny' so I've had to do it by hand.

The winner is Coasterboy80-

I can hope so- When I get back to my own computer, I'll be re-writing the format for the spreadsheet (and re-organizing it as well). I think this will really put a fire underneath people to get moving.

Make sure they know it's a B&M "Sitting Coaster". Otherwise, we will have all sorts of kids exploiting loopholes saying, "a hyper/floorless/invert is still a sitdown".

Posted

Nah- Our kids are WAAAY too bright for that, after all, you ARE sitting down, therefore it's a sitdown coaster...

(Perhaps, just for the sake of our slower, not-so-bright apple kids, we should S-P-E-L it out for them:

A coaster like Kumba, Dragon Kahn or Wildfire is a SITDOWN LOOPER. A coaster like Medusa, Dark Knight or Kraken is a FLOORLESS coaster.

Just in case there's confusion over it...

Shuttle Launch allowed? <:

Head meet wall. Wall meet Head. Become friends. Repeat.

I'm wondering if just for ONCE somebody would SIMPLY READ THE F'ING statements. I mean REALLY. If it got spelled out any clearer, Helen Keller would be able to PLAY THE ToTW contest.

End rant.

Grrr. Two entries. No one ranked either of them.....

This happened with the last TPR challenge overlapping with the ToTW contest- I'd say extend it, but that's sort of a moot point with just two entries.

Voting's done in a few minutes- If you want to extend it, I'll have CPM post the ToTW contest in the 'winners' thread.

I'm just gonna give them both the points. They're new posters, so it'll be a nice "welcome" to the Forums.

I think we'll see a down tick in posting now that school is out. Except for the hardcore game nerds.

Perhaps it's time to up the ante a notch...

Idea: A 'special edition' ToTW contest where the people who entered the TPR challenges sumbit their favorite ride for points?

Robb will kill me when/if he reads this...

I don't see a lot of staying power with the ToTW contest. I think with these kids, short attention spans will rule, and ultimately it'll die. Granted, I know Robb will say that we (I) need to promote, promote, promote, and come up with good contests, but the weekly ones.....they always seem to get lost in the shuffle.

I really thought the "Anything goes" one would get a ton of participation.

If anything I think of it this way:

Once FASTrack is up and running, it would be a good way for people to earn points- so killing it off isn't necessarily (at least to me!) the best option.

Promotion seems to be the key issue here, and that's one of those 'funky' things. The Games forum is still developing traffic- but it's a thing of where it does tend to get lost around the end of the TPR challenges. Where we're seeing an upswing in interest in the Challenges, the ToTW seems to be an afterthought during the voting for the challenges. Perhaps we should suspend the ToTW during the weeks of the TPRC voting- that is, make it a 'two week' TPR challenge for those weeks, and then an easy-in for the rest of the time- at least for now.

I sometimes wish we could also promote them via the general 'forum' as a sticky or something- that way we can gain additional traffic during the week. Or do a tie-in with current 'events' within the general forum- a cross-tie with a trip, or related. Some other suggestions I've been getting from some of the gaming forum people is to have them come up with challenges- and then we can revise them to fit the needs of the forum itself.

We're just getting rolling, and as great as the promotions are, we are still developing the market a bit. Mabye raising the ante a bit (TPR bags of crap) for the next month or two as the prize to the TOTW contest would be in our best interest. That way we don't feel like we're over-doing it, but rather, gaining interest until FASTrack goes live in September. Considering the amount of work that you put into this- along with Robb, Derek, A.J. and myself- as well as others- it's come a long way.

(Basically, my 'Don't give up the ship yet' speech- as much as I can do!)

Let's try TPR Bags of Crap, and do a 'recreate it' challenge type thing for the next couple of weeks: It's easy, people can install things as they see it being, and go from there.

I.E. "TOTW this week: Recreate your favorite B&M in RCT II"

The prize: A TPR Bag of Crap

and see if that gains some promotions. The kids are out of school- but they're not all working, and in many cases, are sitting around. We simply need to drill it into their skulls for a bit.

Movie tie-ins will be a plus as well- going for a 'Pirates of the Carribean water-coaster" or a "Transformers: THE RIDE" contest with a given track might also sell well. The TPR challenge this time went very well- despite the lower attendance to the Games Forum- and I'd be happy to get CPM involved as well- all you need to do is say what you'd like me to push!

It does- and some people have been cashing in their vouchers along the way.

(Sideline note: I'll be posting up the points bonus for the entries in the TPR Challenge tommorow- I'm about to head to the Airport (And a lengthy delay) to head to L.A. and back to Phoenix tommorow.)

I honestly don't care what contests we do just as long as we are doing them, or at least doing something to promote the exchange. Like I originally said, it was just an idea...if someone has a better one...go for it.

While stuck at LAX for a missed connection, I was thinking about this for a bit...

Let's theme it up for a bit to see what happens- that is, a "Recreate me" summer theme. Each week, we give a game, and then a particular ride that we like: I.E. Arrow's Loch Ness Monster- and then see what people come up with. Each week, a different ride, a different game, etc. to work with, and up the ante a bit with the prizes over the summer (TPR Bags of Crap, etc.)

The other thing was to change the points give-out for people who enter: The winner will still get 250 points, but we can use the ratings system I wrote to 'add a bonus' for all who enter: The score they get when the numbers are run will be converted into points that they get for entering.

Another thought: Rotate the ToTW from Tuesday to Wednsday start/end. I'd be better able to help with the ToTW scoring system that way (Tuesdays and Thursdays are my 'office' days, so I'm not easily able to run the scoring system).

I'll be putting a thread into the forum about the new scoring system under the stickies as I'm off today (ear infections sucketh big time) and re-writing the formulas to be easier for us to use over the duration per A.J.'s suggestions.
