Snowboard246
This is my first trip report for TPR. I thought it was going to be just another report of a regular day like any other, but the rain made it an interesting day. A 90% chance rolled into Orlando Monday which isn't too much of a suprise for Florida. Even though it was raining I expected The Martin Luther King day to be a busy one. I spoke with a ride operator at Dragon Challenge and he said that Sunday they had about 22,000 people visit and today (monday) only about 10,000. Entrance to City Walk with Jake in the shot, great start to the day and I mean that sarcastically. Entrance to Universal, empty and gloomy Jake and I standing in line for rock-it Good shot of Rock-it, there was a lot of rain and they surprisingly kept the trains running. It started pouring during the wait to get on, they only used the front car for most of the day. Here comes the rain, lots of it! The empty streets of Universal Studios Shot of Krustyland across the lake No wait on Men in Black! It started pouring again, great pic of rain and rock-it through the haze. No wait for Rock-it! I don't think I have seen this before. Hulk coming out of the tunnel. Cartoon Land is empty Rip Saw Falls still closed, though I saw no visible damage in the front or back of the ride. Front of Rip Saw Falls, with the big wall. Attempting to dry off our hoodies with the hand dryers in the bathroom, but the attempt was futile, no such luck. Have to include a picture of Hogwarts Castle View of Hogsmeade with the surrounding park and cityscape.
SharkTums
Very nice that they kept attractions open and people were riding. Kind of a slap in the face to all the parks that close in a light drizzle!
WW1 Flying Ace
Was Harry Potter empty too? That would be impressive! More so than an empty Rockit. Nice Pics looks like you managed to have a decent day with the rain.
Jerrykoala2112
Even though the rain might not have been enjoyable, I guess it scared away many of the crowds! Can't wait to come to the park in a couple weeks, and I hope to have the same amount of crowds you got. Ripsaw Falls is just sad to look at right now. Â Thanks for posting! WW1 Flying Ace
^Truly Impressive! I wish Rockit would get an express pass line too. It's already built! Use it! Even with rain I would love going to any park full of empty operating rides! Hoping for the same luck this Thursday night! (Even less reason for people to be there!) Snowboard246
I was shocked when I saw absolutely no line for Rock-it, when we rode it in the rain there was a line. I was especially surprised on MLK Day despite rain. Guess there is a first time for everything.
Lenaapple1974
Nice! I guess there were no threats of lightning then! I do have to say, riding in the rain definitely gives you an added element of fun, although it can be quite painful. I hope I have similar luck when I am there in July. Just not the rain! In 2009, I went Fourth of July week, and there were almost no lines for everything! I am hoping people are just away doing other things that week again! BarryH
It looks like you had fun on the wet, wet day! Â Did you go on any water rides?
BarryH
Way back about 7-8 years ago, I was on Mantis in the pouring rain. The on-ride photo had me with my head down and my head soaked. You would not see Mantis running in a downpour at today's Cedar Point!
samisthabomb
Great TR! Interesting to see Universal so empty. Keep posting!
