Sir Clinksalot Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 http://msnbc.msn.com/id/9047102/ This guy is giving God a bad name, not that God needed his help anyway. It's because of people like this dumbass that have caused me to not want anything to do with organized religion anymore.
FlyingScooter Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Yeah, that was some article. I like his words: "Take out'. lol Organized religion can be interesting. I haven't wanted anything to od w/organized religion in over 20 years. Just call me a spiritualist. peace.
CoasterFanatic Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I think what we are failing to realize is that Pat Robertson really has NOTHING to do with religion/faith/god.
crispy Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Sorry, but I was a Worship Leader at my church for many years, and almost all T.V. evangelist are fairly scummy. Its actually sad, because there really are good people in organized religion, doing good things and really trying to do whats right, and people seem to take a look at people like robertson and lump them all together
Sir Clinksalot Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 ^ I agree, but I also started seeing those types of things in my old church ... which was sad.
map2 Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 This guy doesnt give God a bad name, because he does not represent God. God will NEVER be a bad name. The guy is just a HUGE hypocrite, and uses his Faith against people. Although you could tell that he was always a hypocrite.
FlyingScooter Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Seems like a million years ago, but i was the President of my old churches youth fellowship. Was born and raised United Methodist. To make a long story short, I was asked to step down because the 'blue-haired ladies that controled the power of the church said: You want to have car washes to raise money for a retreat! NO! We went on a 7 day retreat, unfortunately, it lasted 3 days and they brought us back. Sad part is, most of the kids folks were gone on vacations and thought we wouldn't be back for 7days. My folks were livid and asked what we (the kids) did wrong to deserve this. The BH ladies said: wrong? They didn't do anything wrong, we just thought 3 days was enough. Back in 1979, you could not fight the Blue Haired ladies, so i resigned. First person in the UMYF to resign. I went back to that church about 8 yrs ago and was greeted with: Aren't you the one that quit? I nodded. then, out of nowhere, they said: look, we have black people now. I said: Saints be praised! and walked out. Maybe i should go back there again with camera. It might make a good RR. Religion Report. What do you think?
crispy Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 ^^^^, well I'm very sorry that happened to you, and yes there certainly are some people running some churches who shouldn't, but the pastor I had in Cali was an honarable man, and the church stayed very small because of it. now, i'm not going to church now, and I'm not sure if I am going back, but I do know there are some very good people, who are only trying to do what is right, That's why i would never group people together and say it is all bad, because its not
USRoadTripper Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 He represents good Christians about as well as the 9/11 hijackers represent good Muslims. -Julie
BelizeIt Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 The problem with any TV Evangelist's is that their primary concern seems to be raising funds, rather than spreading the word of God. Let's face it, when your running ads on TV, it's extremely expensive, so they need lot's of people to "Donate" money to the church. But, sadly the majority of the donations go to cover "Expensives", whatever that is!!!! So if you want to help out your "Local" church do so! Your generous personal donation might actually do some good! Avoid the ones on TV!!!
