thrillrider Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Only time will tell I guess. I have heard that they got the green light for the project. I guess if we see construction walls go up soon, we will know.
ebl Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 "I always found it odd that there were 3 seats instead of 4." (thrillrider) Remember, a regular car sits three across, so this is thematically correct. Older cars with a bench seat in front also sat three across, but the front bench seat is becoming rare in today's cars. Eric
thrillrider Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Todays update includes a ride in the front of the monorail, and dinner at cinderellas castle. Remember when you could ride up in the front of the monorail? Today we visit the monorail. The monorail goes into two of the disneyworld parks. Epcot, and magic kingdom. Before the accident, you used to be able to ride in the front. The controls for the monorail. The glass needed to be replaced. There is enough room for about 5 people and a driver. Me and one of our friends. This was our driver. Going into the ticket and transpertation station. This is the switchtrack for the maintnance area. The monorail also stops in 3 hotels. The contemporary, polyinision, and grand floridian hotel. It goes right thrue the hotel. A view of the at the time under construction addition to the contemporary hotel. Here you can see the other side of the hotel. The monorail going thru the hotel. This is the magic kingdom monorail station. We had dinner at the castle. Inside the castle is beautiful. Before you go up to eat, they make you get your picture with cinderella. The ceiling of the lobby. The stairway to the dinning room. The detail of the castle was awsome. Even outside, the detail is amazing. One of the paintings. I thought I had heard somewhere, that they used real gold as paint on some things. The menu just outside the restaurant. Back inside the castle. Part of the ceiling in the dinning room. The dinning area. There is so much eye candy in the castle. It's my favorate place to eat at Disney. Looking out our window into fantasyland. We were on the dinning plan, so we got to pick anything we wanted off the menu. I got the prime rib. It was so good, it was like sex in your mouth. This was my desert. My friend caral had this for desert. While you eat, they have the fairy godmother do a little show, and the mice are there as well. Here is the other rat. Random dinning room shot. I am totaly doing this to my bathroom at home. Looking down into the lobby. Stained glass in the stairwell. Just next to the castle, they have a wishing well. In otherwords, the money goes into the mouses pocket. There is a show here. It is located right next to the castle. That's it for this update. The next update will be of the keys to the kingdom behind the scenes tour, and more magic kingdom.

Wouldn't it make sense to have 4 accross seating? I bet a lot of groups have to get broken up because of this. I just find it odd, because all rides I have ever seen are two accros seating, or 4 or more accross seating. Three accross is just an odd number. Maybe it had to do with the design of the ride, not sure but interesting none the less.
thrillrider Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 Short update today, as I have ANOTHER birthday party to go to. I swear, in all my years, I have never had so many partys and bbq's to go to than I have this year. This update is of one of the hotels I stayed at. The coronado. The resort is beautiful, but it cost a lot more than the "value" resorts at disney. To us, it did not make sense to stay in a more expensive hotel, because we were never there long enough to enjoy it. We wanted to stay a few nights here just to check it out. My next update will be the keys to the kingdom behind the scenes tour. The coronado This sign was at the entrance...not sure why. Registration center. The ceiling at the entrance. Front of hotel Fountain in the entrance Bellhop area The inside of the room. It is no bigger than a value resort room. Bathroom area This was the building we stayed in. Pool area Waterslide Cool theming Looking accross the lake at the main resort building Next are a few shots of the main building Gift shop. The convention center, and restaurants are down a long hall. All the way at the end are where the restaurants are. The pepper market is the resorts food court. They also have a sit down restaurant that serves breakfast. The food court has several differant food islands. Lots of things to choose from, but the food all had a mexican flair to it. The seating area. They had a weird way of doing things here. First you get your food, then you eat, then you stand in line to pay. It was a nice looking food court, allthough it was kinda small . They also have a bar and lounge area. I like staying at the resorts because they have a great transpertation system.
thrillrider Posted August 15, 2010 Author Posted August 15, 2010 I am getting the pictures together from the keys to the kingdom tour. Including pictures of the tunnles that are under the magic kingdom. I should have them up by tommarow.
mightbeawannabe Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I remember when they let you ride in front...I wish I had pictures. Also, which switch was that; was it the Epcot spur?
thrillrider Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 For some reason, I can't find all my pictures from the keys to the kingdom tour. I will post the ones I have, and I hope I can add some more. Here is what I can find right now.....enjoy. We decided to do the keys to the kingdom tour at the magic kingdom. That ment we had to be there early before the park opend. The check in area just inside the main gate. All the other guests were waiting to get in. It was weird being in the park with no crowds. As you can tell by the decorations, it was halloween time. Random picture with no people. We got a private meet and greet with the parade people before it started. Lunch was included with the tour, as well as a trading pin. The lunch was upstairs at the columbia harbor house. They had a whole section reserved for us. Our lunch and pin was waiting for us when we arrived. The view from the restaurant. It really is a nice restaurant....only problem is that I don't care for seafood. Also had a nice view of the river. I see you haunted mansion... I never noticed the area down below, untill I looked down at it. Our first behind the scenes tour was in haunted mansion. They give everyone an earpiece so that they can tell you about the ride while your on it. There are a lot of interesting facts about this ride. They have a secret entrance just for the tour. They even themed it like the rest of the ride. It was very dark, so I was not able to get too many pictures of the inside. On our way to the utilidoors(underground tunnels), They had a piano player. I have always seen the piano, but never the piano player. There is a secret entrance to the tunnles in this room. Can you guess where this is? One more clue.... Blurry utilidoor pictures. The tunnel system is massive. There were signes everywhere pointing people in the right direction. We got our own showing of country bear jamberee. Not sure what this was. It was not a speaker. Yayyy...no people to deal with. I love this. They used to have this attraction at Disneyland as well. Yep...it was country bear After country bear, we got to take a nap...err, I mean check out the hall of presidents. This theater is HUGE!! All the crooks...err..I mean presidents. Speaking of crooks.... Random fountain shot. They also let us skip the line and take a ride on space mountain. Space mountain track porn. POV shot. Wow....... Lift hill. Yep...it was dark Passing the lift hill Not sure what's going on here The red tunnel Again...not sure why the bolts are painted. The ramp up the exit. I have not been on space mountain since the redo, but I hear a lot has changed. I guess this is all gone now. They finished up the tour with a q&a, and a ride on pirates of the carribean. That's it for this update. The next update, will be a look back at pleasure island R.I.P.
SLUSHIE Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I think I've been to Disney World 5 or 6 times now, my last time just being a month ago. I really don't understand what people like about World Showcase. Maybe when it opened in the 70's it had some significance, but I just don't get what so special about it. It's just a bunch of shops and restaurants with two short boat rides and a few movies, which really aren't all that interesting on a repeat visit (or the first time). All the alcohol they sell are generic imports that can be found at the grocery store, but with a Disney price. I think going to the food court at the mall is a similar experience, but with much less walking. I really hope these rumors of a new country and expansion of the Japanese pavilion happen, as long as at least one of these contains a ride (that isn't a boat).

I really don't understand what people like about World Showcase. Maybe when it opened in the 70's it had some significance, but I just don't get what so special about it. See, there's the problem right there. You must be talking about a different Epcot. This one opened in the 80's. All the alcohol they sell are generic imports that can be found at the grocery store, but with a Disney price.I think going to the food court at the mall is a similar experience, but with much less walking. See "Exhibit A" below. It's just a bunch of shops and restaurants with two short boat rides and a few movies, which really aren't all that interesting on a repeat visit (or the first time). I really hope these rumors of a new country and expansion of the Japanese pavilion happen, as long as at least one of these contains a ride (that isn't a boat). So after that glowing review, a new country, a possible expansion of another, or a new ride is gonna bring you back? I guess until then I'll just catch you at the mall, while I'm there buying new shoes to walk through the 70's. Neither my mall, nor my grocery store look like this. Weird.
ginzo Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 ^I wish more people thought like SLUSHIE. That way the food lines would be shorter at the Food & Wine Festival.
SLUSHIE Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 So it opened in the 80's then I'm guessing? Anyways my point was that when it opened, maybe not every city in America had a Chinese restaurant so the World Showcase was a little bit more novel than it is now. I didn't say I didn't like EPCOT, just the World Showcase. Rides are the reason I go to theme parks, not food, so yes a ride would probably make me want to venture into the area. Don't take what I'm saying literally.
thrillrider Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 So what your saying is that it's a bad park because it does not have a 500 foot coaster? Seriously though,There is a lot more to the world showcase than just food and shopping. I love coasters and thrill rides as much as anyone, but that's not the reason I go to epcot. I can't quite put my finger on why I like it so much. Maybe it's the people or the displays? Not sure.

Don't take what I'm saying literally. 1) Do some homework before you spout off. EPCOT opened in 1982. 2) If you don't get World Showcase, then you don't understand the entire park. 3) I took what you said literally. It's the only way to take something that was presented....literally. thrillrider, I'm not sure taking pictures of the Utilidors is allowed on the tour. You may want to remove those. The back hall entrance to the Haunted Mansion is for cast members as well. It's not themed just for the tour.
thrillrider Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Remember pleasure island and all the cool clubs? I am sure that I am not the only one who misses the night life and all the great clubs that pleasure island had. I really enjoyed the comedy club, mannequins, and the adventure club. I have some videos from a few of the clubs that I will try to post soon. The next update will be of downtown disney and disneyquest. Sigh.... 8 Trax. I never really went into this club much. I loved this place, just as long as I did not sit next to the phone. The seating area Blurry picture, but they had a lot of old disney singage scatterd around. The keyboard player. The skits were really funny. This was one of my favorate places to go at pleasure island. It was cool just to wander around the club and look at everything. This guy always cracked me up. They used to have him dance. Part of the show.... Banner There were things to look at everywhere. One last look. The B.E.T club. This was probaly the least popular club at pleasure island. I never see it very buisy. That's too bad, because it was a nice looking club. The next club cool... Bar area My favorate club. The rotating dance floor. Bad picture of dance floor. They had a TON of lighting in this club There was also a whole wall of lights. Looking down at the dance floor. One last look at adventures club. The only bad thing about pleasure island, was knowing that you had to get up early the next morning to go to the next park. Here are a few pictures of breakfast the food court at pop century the next day. Look...A hidden mickey.

thrillrider Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 Today, we take a look at star tours now that it's shut down for the remake, and A few more pictures of pleasure island. I will be posting a few videos of pleasure island today as well. The star wars gift shop. I wonder if the swichbacks will be rethemed when it reopens? C3Po I wonder if any of the props were used in the movies? Waiting for your shuttle to arrive. Lame... Random shot Back to pleasure island for a few more shots I forgot. Had desert inside planet hollywood. Lots of theming in the planet hollywood dome.
thrillrider Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 Here is a video of the awsome light show that the mannequins night club in pleasure island had. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=S6305779_0wjr[/coastertube]

thrillrider Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 Today, we were back at the magic kingdom for a look at haunted mansion and mickeys not so scary halloween party. The next update will be from epcots history museum. Yayy for shaded lines. The horseless carrage. Graveyard. The pre show before the pre show in the elevator. One of the streching pictures in the elevator. I found all the posters from the elevator in a gift shop near the ride. Doom buggy. They really need to hire a maid service. Loading platform The exit hallway. At the exit of the ride, there is this. It has something to do with the attic scene. It was explaned to us durring the keys to the kingdom tour. Bonus points to anyone that knows what this is. The graveyard durring the halloween event. They had some of the people out that you normaly don't see too often. The castle was all lit up in scary colors. Lots of cool things to look at, like the giant eye. They had a really good show on the castle stage, fallowed by a special fireworks show. Ace was there as well. The sign for the event Disney knows how to do things right. The park was decked out in halloween decor. It was amazing that they were able to get a lot of this stuff up in the hour the park was closed. No balloon for me today. Random park decorations. They had just the right amount of decor. The next few pictures are from main street. We ate dinner at tonys on main street. Tonys waiting room. The restaurant is loosley themed to the lady and the tramp. There are two dinning areas. The other area. It was a perfect time to eat, as a rain storm went thrue. Since walt had a statue, his brother was jealous so he built one also. They have a real barbor shop. You can get a haircut there if you want. lockness monster There is eye candy everywhere in this park. One last picture for this report.
derek_lentz Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I have never seen that statue of Roy. When was that put in?
thrillrider Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Not sure when it was put in, but it's in the front of the park by the flag pole.
