gisco Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 News Article iPhone App Reveals Wait Times For Disneyland RidesMouseWait is a new iPhone application that makes enjoying the "happiest place on earth" a lot easier by tracking wait times at Disneyland rides, a newspaper reported Sunday. It may be possible with a new iPhone application that displays wait times for all Disneyland rides and can help park-goers to better allocate their time, a newspaper reported Sunday. MouseWait is an application for iPhones that connects Disneyland with popular social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and FriendFeed, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise. It reportedly uses location data from the mobile devices to display the wait times for all of the rides in Disneyland and California Adventure, and offers live Webcam updates from the parks. "It's really geared toward the annual pass holder," said Kelly Johns, owner of App316.com, a small software and Web site design and support company in Riverside, the Press-Enterprise reported. "What we've found is that these people who are really fans of Disneyland like to see what's going on there wherever they are," Johns told the newspaper. The firm is offering the application for free to attract as many Disneyland fans as possible. Pretty cool App for the iPhone. It looks like the wait times are provided by users not the park itself. There is more to the app then the wait times. They have a section for pass holders providing things like discounts and blackout dates. There is even a section to look at the menus and prices for the restaurants in the parks. California Adventure is included too. The best part it is Free.
robbalvey Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Hmm...so this isn't an official app from the park? I think I'd be a little cautious trusting wait times based on rider input. It would be nice to see something like this that is an official app from the park that takes the wait times from the board on Main Street. And even that isn't always accurate... --Robb
SharkTums Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 ^Yeah I've read some reviews about this app and similar ones and unfortunately it can be VERY wrong based on crowd levels and how many people are using it at any given time. I remember when we could text a number for wait times and information at Disney Studios Paris. I'd even take that if Disney doesn't want to do a full App. I agree, need something official.
nursemelis374 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 There is going to be an official one coming out of a partnership between Verizon and Disney for Verizon users. It is supposedly not dependant on users at the park but should more closely match actual wait times as well as FastPass return times. Mobile Magic Finally something for us CrackBerry users and not the iPhone mafia!
ebl Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Will there be a new app that allows you to get virtual FastPasses at some point? Eric
socalMAN123 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 A virtual Fastpass sounds all sorts of epic. I want to see Disney look into that more... ---Brent
nay Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I have the WDW app similar to this, and it's not entirely accurate either, but I had fun plugging in the wait times one day as I passed each ride. It's nice that they have this, and hopefully something more official will become available eventually.
