Bigfoot: Return of the Sasquatch! [NL]

Recommended Posts

Well its been a while, and a jolly pain in the arse, but i have my laptop and NoLimits back! To celebrate, i made this beauty.

I saw Robb's POV of Avalanche (the S&S woodie) and this ride is kind of inspired by that, hence the fast turns and short trains.

Awesome coaster, nice to see you've returned.

What was Good

-Fantastic pacing throughout.

-Lots of airtime on the hills.

-Fun layout.

-Smooth trackwork.

-Fun and original track shaping.

-Fantastic ending.

What I felt could be improved

-I would have liked to have seen some scenery to compliment the coaster.

-The end of the ride, though fun, felt rushed.

-The transports in the station and preceding the lift were unrealistic.

My Verdict

An incredible ride which was immaculately built. All it needed was a bit of polishing.

8.5/10

Awesome coaster!

I love your work, and can't wait to see what else you bring us now that you're back. This ride was completely insane, and I loved every minute of it.

I think the coaster is great!

Good:

-Wide, long, and generallly exiting layout.

-The airtime is great, especially on the first hill and some of the bunny hops.

-The block system is good for a woodie.

-In general, most of the ride is pretty smooth and has good transitions between elements.

The not so Good:

-The ending brakes are a little jerky.

-I have to agree dr. gumbo, the end was fun, but a little rushed.

-The restraint color. For some reason, I'm not a huge fan of purple restraints.

Tips/Suggestions:

-Make the end a little more spread out. Keep it a lot like the current ending, but spread it out a little.

-Make the brakes gentler by decreasing the G-force level of stopping.

-Color the restraints orange to match the grab bars.

Overall, it's a good ride, and only a little needs to be improved.

Hmmmm interesting comments... i think this ride makes much more sense if you imagine it as a cross between a Gravity Group and a Schwarzkopf coaster; long-lasting insanity but is just long enough to make you want to go back for more.

I see where you are coming from, but i personally believe it is better to end a ride when its speed is reduced but just nicely fast enough to maintain a quick pace, rather than having it crawl into the brake run.

Also, i think a park would much rather guests re-rode over and over again, as opposed to guests getting all their fill from the one ride and then moving on, because this way their guests cannot become bored.

Just a few thoughts, thanks for the comments!

I thought the trackwork was incredibly smooth and the airtime on this was awesome, I also thought the layout was pretty good as well. I didn't mind the ending and didn't really feel it was bad, but it did seem a little different than the rest of the coaster. It was a fantastic coaster and you did a great job, but one thing I would advise is incline the station, pre lift and last segment of brakes so that you can eliminate the transport wheels. Keep up the good work, this was awesome.

^Actually, that is a very good point. I think most designers/parks like to make it 'traditional' by making it mostly gravity powered. I do agree that the wheels at the beginning are good, but I think today's market reserves them only for steel coasters. It's a good investment that can help prevent rollbacks or slow starts, though....

I kept it traditional by not ironing out any strong laterals to give an 'out-of-control' sensation. I think woodies like El Toro and Balder etc perhaps push the 'modern' concept slightly too far, because exactly the same thing could be done much more easily with a steel coaster, and woodies are all about looking unsafe and being boisterious.
