Should we have RCT competitions

They had some fun competitions on the RCT boards, i'm wondering if we have enough people here, who would be intrested in starting some here?

 

The only prize would be knowing your better than everyone else, and we can switch between RCT2, and RCT3

 

 

let me know what you think, here is a coaster i made for the 10x10 comp, it had to be 10x10, including the entrances, i didn't win, but it was fun

Hey Crispy, I'm definately up for any kind of RCT competitions! Don't mind if it's in RCT2 or 3 cos they are both cool!

yeh, great idea, I'm all up for teh competitions, I only have RCT2 atm, but meh, it'll be very interesting to see the level of quality that TPR park builders can come up with.

you know i don't see any reason why most competitions can't include both games, they are simular in the way things are designed, so if we go foward we will try to have the competitions be both games, if not we will run two competitions at the same time, for the diffrent games

That sounds great, why not start a competition! However, I only have RCT2.

Yeah for the most part there shouldn't be any conflict, some coasters may be slightly different between the two games though (pieces etc.) but I can't see any reason why we can't have entries from both in the same competition.

 

And yes it's a great idea, should generate a lot more interest in the Video Games forum as well as create some healthy competitive atmosphere.

 

I'll definitely help out with Map/Scenario creation for either RCT2, RCT3 or Soaked!

No worries crispy, this is the sort of thing that should be encouraged.

 

Coaster Challenges like the one you suggested are great, there are so many other options for competitions with RCT as well... we should really never run out of options.

wow that sounds really fun! not only can we have the coaster building competition but matbe we can have the coolest park or something. we could be allowed to have 3 screen shots and have other people vote for the best one.

well someone should set this up. i think its a good idea!

if we get a good enough response, i will set it up, but we would certainly need people intrested, cant have a coaster challenge with two challengers

 

 

 

as for the park challenges, we will probably "borrow" from the rct forums, have a set theme (example western), and a set list of stuff you need (3 coaster, 400 bathrooms, ect), then provide the park blank, the challenge would be broken into RCT3 park and RCT2 park, with a winner for each game

or make a scenario file to download and then post screen shots from it when you're done?

^^^^ yup, we would provide the scenerio for you to download, for either rct2 or rct3

Ideally we'd make the parks/scenarios as identical as possible between RCT2 and 3 (at least as much as needed for a fair challenge) and then just have them to download.

 

Then have a deadline and have people post the completed scenario/challenge for rating/voting.

 

All the actual rules and stuff could be sorted out later, we just need to get a fairly good turnout of interest first. I imagine this to work similarly to how the Civilisation 3 Game of the Month contests are run at CivFanatics.com.

 

I am really excited about this and will gladly help out with whatever is needed, scenarios/parks, graphics etc.

Hmmm, I think you'll find we have Me, Bocakey, Crispy, AllisonY2K, Richard, Coasterdude5, Hattuchili and yourself. That's 8 so far by my reckoning

 

Well, Crispy is the dude on this one, It'd be nice if we could get support for this from the powers that be. We'll see how this thread goes first.

I might try... Compared to some of you though I suck at scenery. I'm also kinda hit or miss on rides. Some of my coasters I am thrilled with and others are just crap...

Why don't you post something in the main roller coaster board about this to get some more excitement? Like maybe a poll or something to see who might be interested.

 

I'm all for these, but I won't be able to contribute much since we have so many other things going on. But if you guys don't mind doing it, let me know whatever support you need and I'll jump in.
