KGA29 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 So I decided to head out to my home park from about 2-5 just me and my camera. I took a bunch of pictures and rode a couple rides. Basically I just wanted to do whatever I wanted to do. Let's start with the tour: Classic entrance shot: Some more of the Carousel Columbia: The Star Tower is also by the entrance Next up, Celebration Swings Continuing around the park in a counter-clockwise direction, the first coaster is Vortex. While it's bumpy, it's still a classic and has some intense moments Xtreme Skyflyer, the park's skycoaster Whitewater Falls Berserker, an old Bayern Kurve The next coaster on the list is the Demon. My first looping coaster. I don't know why I took so many pictures of it. The cool vine tunnel over by Invertigo/Demon Invertigo The next big thing is the Grizzly in the back of the park. It got some retracking this offseason, but it still felt as bumpy as ever. And sloooooow too. Super short lines today POV Also in the back we have Drop Tower. This is where I saw Angry Gumball! Survivor: the ride. A fun ride, but it was down the other day. Next coaster is Psycho Mouse. I didn't ride, but it didn't look like it had its usual long line Heading back towards the entrance the next ride up is Centrifuge, a classic scrambler type ride. In Nickelodeon Central, there is a giant water maze for the kiddies And also a breakdance, Spongebob's Boatmobiles Kidzville is right next door, with a bunch of rides for the young ones. Logger's Run runs right through the water park And the Endeavor (formerly the Revolution) is also in the water park Now for some pics from around the water park. It wasn't very crowded even on a Sunday afternoon. Usually the big slides have massive lines, but it wasn't too bad when I was there. Random Boomerang Bay theming Delirium right across the way Heading across a bridge, you enter a spot with 4 rides to choose from. First, the newest CGA ride: Firefall that opened last year Second, right in the middle of the area is Flying Eagles. I tried to snap it, but wasn't as successful as I have been in the past. For a fun water ride, Rip Roarin Rapids is a good choice After getting soaked, to take a quick spin dry, the Orbit is the last of the 4 rides in that area. The new Game Day Sports Bar was open, so I checked it out Making our way around the park we come to the last roller coaster, Flight Deck Then I checked out the new addition this year: All Wheels Extreme stunt show. It was really good, and funny at some times. It's only about 20 minutes, but it was definitely the right amount of time. The stage is very impressive and the stunts were amazing too Rue Le Dodge, the park's bumper cars. Too bad they make you go around in a circle. Also the park has a skyway ride that goes from one side of the park to the other. I used it to get some of my pictures. Here's a shot of the station by Flight Deck I'll end with some shots of the Halloween Haunt advertising that has started to show up. I'm so excited for the park's 2nd Haunt. Hope you liked the short tour around the park!
Angry_Gumball Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I knew I should have pulled out the camera from my trip. I was however completely soaked the entire day so I felt it was probably best to keep the camera in it's baggie rather than stuffing it in a wet pocket. Nice photos by the way. They had haunt advertising there already? I totally did not see that! Also, just noticed this... Me thinks that's my cousin walking onto the White Water Falls (on the left)...lol
Maverickrocks Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Great pictures! I've never really heard a lot of good things about CGA, and the other photo trip reports I've seen revealed what looked like a park in disrepair. Your photos really gave a more positive look at it. It's a shame the place is in danger.
cycamps Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Nice pics! I hope to get there next year when I do my west coast trip. Hopefully it's there to go to...
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Going there in less than a month! Hoping to hit SFDK too! Are the lines usually that short? Because I hope I can get on every single coaster there as well as afew flats. Especially the drop tower, as I haven't ridden an Intamin drop tower for afew years.
KGA29 Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 Going there in less than a month! Hoping to hit SFDK too! Are the lines usually that short? Because I hope I can get on every single coaster there as well as afew flats. Especially the drop tower, as I haven't ridden an Intamin drop tower for afew years. Lines are usually pretty short for most rides. Flight Deck, Grizzly, and Survivor might reach 15-20 minutes. Invertigo and Psycho Mouse might even get up to 30 during the busier parts of the day. Also Logger's Run and Rip Roarin Rapids lines can get lengthy if it is warm outside. Other than that, you should not have a problem with lines.
sfmmrules! Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 My favorite ride there is Endavor I guess even though I can't go on it anymore. I have a question. If you can't handle spinny rides anymore should you leave Endavor out?
Sunfire Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 ^I personally don't have any problems with Endeavor, but the once the ship gets into full loops, the spinning may become disorienting. I'd say skip it if you suffer from motion sickness easily. Still, I think it's cool, being one of the only pirate ships that does full Revolutions (ha, I made a joke).
sfmmrules! Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I have a lot of favorite rides there that I can't go on anymore: Endavor, Beserker, Survivor,Deliruim. That Triple Play in 2004 did it for me-felt so sick on the way home! So now I have to avoid spinny rides. That's too bad. CGA has alot of good flats-but really lacking good coasters. Is the Grizzly any better? & What's the word on the new woodie- is CGA getting it next year or not? If I were running CGA I would tear it all down & put SFMM in it's place. We have the mountains in the backround SFMM is the only thing missing!
KGA29 Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 I went again today and have returned with some more pics if anybody wants to see. I went with my friend and got to the park around 11:30. We started out in the water park. The speed slides didn't open until 12:30, so we stayed in the water park a little over an hour. On Digeridoo Falls (family raft ride) we were put with another two people and we were going CRAZY high on the turns. This is the only shot I got of the slides: Then after some lunch we hit up Delirium: Next up we rode Endeavor. Continuing around the park clockwise, Centrifuge, a classic scrambler kind of ride, was next. Next ride: Psycho Mouse. The longest lines today were for the family rides and water slides. It was hot, so the water rides were busy. Psycho Mouse's line was also long too. But the major roller coaster lines weren't bad. Obviously there were a ton of families there today. As soon as we boarded PM, the ride broke down (after a 30 min line), so we waited another 15 min and were allowed to ride after the ride got back up. Passing by the "buckets" the line was too long So we rode Drop Tower (walk on) Survivor was our next ride, and even though we got the green seats, we had a fun ride. Some queue theming: The fire/mister effects weren't working today. Yeah, it's a terrible ride, but we had to ride Grizzly just because. Every row was a walk on except the front and back, which had one train waits. Usually this one has a much longer line, but we weren't complaining. Even though we didn't ride Invertigo this time, I got a few good pics Because it was pretty hot, Whitewater Falls sounded really good. We sat in the back and actually got LOADS of airtime on both the first drop and the mini bump thing. But we didn't get soaked. We chose not to see the 4:00 Ice show, but instead we went to Vortex where we rode in the front with about a 1 min wait. Also said hi to dpxtreme/Daniel. After getting bashed by Vortex we went over to Flight Deck and rode in the 3rd row. Then a quick ride on the Orbit and then on Flying Eagles (the rapids had about a 45 min line at this point). We finished our day with the All Wheels Extreme Stunt Show. Overall, a good day and I can't wait for Halloween Haunt!
CreditCrazy Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Great Invertigo pictures! Glad to see Flight Deck running again, the park is really dead without it.
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Nice to see pictures of the water park too. I didn't play in the waterpark so I didn't get to see too much of it. I envy you for getting to ride Psycho Mouse, I lined up for it twice and didn't get to ride because it kept beaking! I was so disappointed! Also love that shot of Flight Deck's wheel cover art. It's one of my favourite wheel covers.
Angry_Gumball Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Wow, you were there too? I just got back...tired in all...Getting my photos up as well. Looks like we all had a great day.
Sunfire Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Cool, I was there too! (as a guest). But I didn't see Robb or Elissa, too bad. EDIT: post 440! If you're a music nerd, you'll know why it's funny.
KGA29 Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 I totally didn't see any TPR high visibility people! Darn.
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Also, is Psycho Mouse really that unreliable? Because it broke down TWICE when I went.
