usctrojansrock11
this summer, me and my family are taking a trip to new york city. we have a lot of time on our hands, so my dad says he probably will be able to take me to a park somewhere. i figured hershey park would be great, especially for riding 2 gci's and 2 world class intamins. but then again, dorney is closer, and has 2 awesome b&m's. whic way should i go?? Homeboy23
Depends on you and your family's interests. Hershey has more roller coasters and Dorney has an arguably better water park. Also, if you don't like long lines, than Dorney is your choice. But if you want an all day park, then Hershey would be the choice, as with more rides it also offers the zoo and chocolate tour and 3d show. niiicolaaah
Hershey is a 3 hour drive from NYC, while Dorney is about an hour and 45 minutes. Based on coasters I'd rather go to Hershey. Dorney's B&Ms aren't that great, especially Hydra which is pretty rough. But based on distance I'd rather go to Dorney. Have you considered going to Six Flags Great Adventure? It's closer to the city than both the parks you mentioned, and has a lot more coasters. Depending on when you go though, it may be more crowded. TPDave
^ That's what Q-Bot is for But yeah, if you're willing to pay for a Q-Bot, you'll have a great time if you go to GAdv instead of Dorney or Hershey
Sir Clinksalot
I didn't get a chance to go to Dorney's waterpark when I was there, but based on the park alone, I have to go with Hershey. Absolutely no question. We were at Dorney for 90 minutes, planned on going back the next day. We did all of the credits and really didn't have any need to ride anything again except for Steel Force. I could ride Storm Runner, Lightning Racer, Great Bear and SuperDooperLooper all day with no problem. Not to mention Fahrenheit which is new. Goliath513
Do you like water parks? If so, I'd recommend Dorney because they have an awesome water park free with admission. Hershey has a small mediocre water park that replaced a great rapids ride (well just the expansion). For the coasters, I would pick Hershey because their coaster collection is, in my opinion, stronger. Stormrunner is amazing, Fahrenheit is decent, Great Bear is MUCH better than Talon at Dorney, Lightning Racer and Wildcat are both awesome GCIs. Sooperdooperlooper and Comet are even pretty good. Those are all the coasters worth mentioning. Oh, and both parks have Wild Mouse coasters too that are about the same. Dorney, well let's just say you don't go to Dorney for the coasters. Steel Force is about as tame as a powered dragon coaster, Hydra is slow and boring, Talon is also very tame, Thunderhawk is decent, but does not compare to the GCI awesomeness at Hershey. There are three kiddie coasters too. With Laser gone, the coaster collection is at a mediocre level, but the water park is what makes Dorney great. But Nicole and Dave said it well. Great Adventure is the choice if you're looking for pure coaster awesomeness!
SharkTums
I'll throw in another vote for choice C: Great Adventure!
Sir Clinksalot
I would also go with Great Adventure over both. Of course, I'd go with Knoebels over all three.

Sir Clinksalot
^ According to Google Maps it's about 75 miles. Directions from NYC (from the Six Flags Website) FROM NEW YORK Take the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel or Holland Tunnel to NJ Turnpike south to exit 7A. Proceed on I-195 east to exit 16A, then one mile west on Rte. 537 to Six Flags.
usctrojansrock11
turns out I'm going to Hershey anyway. my dad works for a grocery store company found only on the west coast [fresh and easy] and europe [tesco] and he has different company's that he gets products from. since he is very close with hershey, he told me we could get free tickets :] but im definately happy to ride Fahrenheit, great bear, storm runner, wildcst, and lightning racer this summer! Josh Linn
I don't think you'll regret it. Talon and Steel Force are the only things you're really missing out on, but Hershey's collection will make up for that and then some.
TYTL
No contest. Heshey owns Dorney any day.

Also went back and spelled Dorney the correct way in the title.
